  • This video compares lasers of powers ranging from 200mW all the way up to 2W. This is part two of my video titled "Green Lasers: What Can Certain mW Do?".
    This video compares lasers that are focused to a point. High powered lasers vary widely in beam diameter so to keep things simple, all lasers here were focused to the smallest possible dot.
    ALWAYS wear laser goggles when working with lasers over 5mW to prevent permanent blindness!!!
    Check out laserpointerfor... to learn more about laser pointers, lasers, and laser pointer companies! I have been a member there for 8 years, and have received a bunch of help from the knowledgeable members there!

    they sell authentic powerful hi quality lasers BUT they are expensive..Dont be fooled by chinese lasers, a true laser 500mw Plus MUST have a sticker on it that says (DANGER class IV laser) NOT class 3b or 4b. All genuine lasers over 500mw are class IV lasers

    See my homepage for experiments using laser. Click the flags to translate.There are several easy to do examples to split the beam, modulate on of the two and then recombine them to produce low frequency beats. These beats should be able to induce currents into the body to transmit sound or steer muscles if used with high power lasers.You dont even need a laser, this can be done with ordinary light and heat radiation as well.The double slit experiment mostly is done with an ordinary light source.

    I have tried many different wattages of lasers up to 2w... And this video is inaccurate... Either you are over exaggerating their power, or are displaying incorrect power outputs... Because the one you said is 200 mw acts more like 2w... And i have a 2w laser in handheld, and your version of a 2w laser, seems more like a very high powered laser with a cooling system... Similar ones ive seen like that are more like 20 watts...
    I think you mAde an error in power outputs... Someone on here must agree with me... It seems like you decreased the wattages of your lasers by a factor of 10...

    Just tap the old diode out, put the new one in. Solder up the driver to the diode. put in a altoids tin and turn it on.

  • @endimion17

    Information in this video is not relevant; the author is mixing apples and oranges.
    Proper comparison would include few powers, one wavelength and one class (cheap or quality).
    Red will alway deliver less energy than a green one at the same power. The smaller the wavelength, the more energy it delivers.
    Also, cheap lasers deliver less energy than expensive ones, per mW of marked power.
    Comparing desktop lab grade lasers with shoddy pointers is not something that can be considered relevant.

  • @fireofenergy
    @fireofenergy 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sunlight is about a 1,000 watts per sq meter, but is of all different wavelengths. Lasers concentrate them at a single wavelength or color. Multiple wl would interfere with each other and all be focused at different focal points according to the optics it comes out of, like magnifier and the (imperfect) hot spot, thus why we can't have effective "sunlight lasers". I don't know theoretical limit to how many photons you can pack into a sq mm but it's definitely enough to cut through metal, etc.

  • @jyrgenruut
    @jyrgenruut 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Unfortunately eventually the "tip/end" of the laser beam would fade out because our mirrors are not 100% perfect... Even the best mirror that humans can make absorbs quite a bit of light and thus even a laser would eventually be completely depleted of energy.
    Infact, the energy would be depleted so fast that if you were to turn off the laser the laser beam would turn off instantly for your eye (because light travels so fast).

    They're not illegal in the USA at all, so long as they follow FDA guidelines and have safety shutoffs and labels. You can buy any strength laser (yes, even Class IV) premade or piece by piece, and legally have it mailed to you from anywhere in the world, as long as it has safety shutoffs (i.e. require a key to operate, or safety switch and "pull-pin" like the WickedLasers products do).

    You actually can buy green lasers of any power fully assembled, as long it complies with FDA safety requirements (at least in the US). Also, it is not sensible to build a green laser because it is very complex and a lot of things can go wrong, even if you do manage to make one, the beam specs will be very crappy and not worth the money spent. One more thing... stay away from wicked lasers.... the quality of their lasers are very exaggerated and not worth the money they charge you.

  • @FutureIsDoomed
    @FutureIsDoomed 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Astromchaser
    Red lasers are the darkest in the wavelength spectrum since it is closer to Infrared
    Green is the brightest color to a human eye...so a 5mW green laser will have a visible beam at night.
    Violet-blue is closer to UV radiation..and closer to a black light color so the laser beam will be much hotter and not as bright as green at 5mW
    you need 250mW of red laser power for the beam to be fully visible

  • @TheShadowCrafter2000
    @TheShadowCrafter2000 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Joni13795 Basically, red is weakest, then green, and then blue. However, that can be switched around by what mw they are. e.g. 100mw red vs 5mw blue. 100mw red is better. So if you are someone who likes lasers, but doesn't want to burn your house down, get a 5mw green or blue. With 5mw red you can't even see the beam, so I wouldn't recommend it, unless you are using it for presentation purposes.

    @xXHowsthisXx mW is a term used in physics and electronics. It is short for milliwatt, or .001 watt.. Wattage is simply the output of energy, whether that energy consist of light, heat, or sound. In this case, its light. The higher the milliwatt rating, or mW, the more energy the laser has.

    @97221135 ok, first lets define a burning laser, its just a laser that can burn right, any mW laser that can burn is a burning laser, if you adjust the lens, find the thinnest beam spot, on that spot, you can easily light a match, like what i did on mine..

    Is there any tests I can do that will prove its a 200mw to myself,
    The Laser was very cheap and I just want to know (bragging rights to my mates who have 5mw laser's)

    sorry i dont know much about these things..... but doesnt haveing your hand that close to a laser beam (thats bein interupted).... kinda subject your skin to light intensities its not ment to handle? :S ( just askin coz i dont know these kinda things)

    Why don't you do test loads in your videos?
    if I would see just your video and try to build a red laser I would kill my diode.
    Thanks god I went to LPF before building my red... you should show test loading to your audience.

    Don't give advice without knowing the actual answer.
    The laser laws vary by country. In most countries, you can own them. In the U.S. specifically, you can own all of the above lasers in this video, and more.

    Dragon lasers is shit.
    WickedLasers is clearly superior in quality and is much cheaper than DragonLasers.
    1Watt laser most certainly lights a candle.
    Lol, even a 30mW laser makes you feel a burning sensation.

    So just watched some of your videos, very fascinated and would like to learn more about "Laser Science" if there is some where you could start my journey off with that would be nice.
    and no i dont just want to burn things.

    wrong, if the wall was a mirror then light is reflected in a specular fashion, but the wall (which reflects in a diffuse manner) regardless of color will heat up. black walls (bad idea) would retain more heat than any other

    Hey, I got a green laser pointer and it's written on it 500mW. It doesn't do things like you said in video. It doesn't even light a match. Is there a way of improving it's intensity. I've heard something about LPM what's that?

    Not true, "burning power" relies on the power outage of a laser, not so much as the wavelength. The wavelength of the laser decides what objects the light absorbs into and what objects the light reflects off of

    let me guess, you got a green laser from some random website that claimed that it was a 300mw for 50$. well.... that laser is probably no more than 50mw in reality. A real 300mw green laser would be around 500-1000$

    you can buy lasers of any power pretty much. Some colors cost more than others because of the different process they go through. For example, a 5mw red will cost about 3$ while a true 5mw 589nm (yellow) will cost like 300$.

    in all honesty... have you ever tried to light a cigarette with one? I'm gu3essing it would work due to the whole lighting paper and cardboard on fire thing, but still... it would be bad ass to have a laser cigarette lighter.

    Different wave lengths will be able to burn different colours for example a 500mw ir laser will only be able to burn very darkly coloured materials were as a UV 405nm laser can burn lightly coloured materials and darker ones too

    @jerryk2198 Sorry, i was in a really bad mood, what I wanted to say before I went off, is that sunglasses would do nothing, soooooo sorry. I do play with lasers all day, sorry. anyways, Just fair warning, never use sunglasses
