The skirt is beautifully done. But I need to sew a more modest skirt no slits in the back and not so tight fitting. Can you design a skirt with a sew along as well I’m a newbie visual sewer. A line preferably and mid calf length. I do love denim and it’s hard to find one ready made in stores. Thanks.
Such a cute skirt! I love the way you serged your edges ahead of time to avoid having to do it after you've already stitched the seams. Makes pressing them open so much easier and I always think that's a nicer look with something heavier like denim. You make that lapped zipper application so easy. I tend to avoid those but it looks pretty simple and great tip on getting a longer zipper - I need to remember to do that. Two things I would change in your method - one is to line the pocket rather than fiddle with all that stitching and folding and gathering. You'd be able to clip and trim that curve and get a nice finish. I always do my patch pockets this way - it's foolproof. The only other thing is that I'd turn my skirt inside out to do the right side topstitching on the zip. I don't always do this but it can enable you to wrangle that fabric into an easier position. Both those things are personal preference and certainly wouldn't affect the fit of the skirt. I love the way this is so straightforward and hard to mess up. Watching you sew is a pleasure.
I have been following you for a few years now and I love all the work and detail of your projects. If I may I have a question. I'm not a tall person and the distance between my bra and waist is 3.5 - 4 inches with an apron. Its very hard to make clothes with these measurements. Do you have any suggestion on how to make skirts for my current body type?

Do all patterns fit to size? I don’t know how to take measurements for my thick 16yo daughter who is only 4’8. I wish you can make a video to give a run down on how to measure for jackets, shirts, and pants.
@@adamina70 Which seams? If the seams are incased in a facing then I just trim. If I am sewing and want to press my seams flat and open I serge before stitching.
