The hardest part with all these "All blanks explained" videos is that, there has been SO MUCH Star Wars lore over the years, that it hits a point where so many of these feel redundant, and its hard to believe the empire would actually need this many different variations of the same ship.
The F-15 has like 10 different variants all of which look largely similar and their differences tend to be incremental upgrades rather than completely different frames like what we see with the TIE.
I like to think that every defense contractor for the galaxy wants a piece of the Empire's military budget, so the Imperials have like 3000 projects being funded at the same time
@@AB-bg7os i was kinda interested in that now and did some digging in Star Wars lore. The TIE designs are all from one company, Sienar Fleet Systems. So it‘s always the same contractor. There was also Incom, they were the ones that created the X-Wing design and many Clone Starfighters like the Arc-170. The Empire however didn’t need their designs anymore and imperialised Incom to make use of their production lines for TIE fighters and to regulate the market of fighter craft. Many of their former engineers went on to the Rebel Alliance after that. Other than them most companies were small local planetary companies like the one producing the Naboo-1. Knowing that I would say you could explain all the designs with some of them being more experimental and rarely used by the Empire. As a veteran of the X-Wing series I of course love the Avanger and Defender (long version), my very favorite fighters to fly. Also love the sleek design of the Phantom.
Pick my favourite? That's tough... 🤔 Ever since playing Star Wars TIE Fighter back in '94, I have always loved the concept of the Defender. Love how the lore was expanded on in recent series. The sheer cool look of the V38 TIE Phantom caught my attention in the late '90's, though I never played the source game, and it seems to have sadly been left by the wayside. I'd like to see the current "Rights Holder" revisit this, perhaps Retcon origin story, but bring it back into play somehow, make it canon. So little info on, or stats for it 🤷 The First Order TIE Whisper seems like a beefed up TIE Interceptor: fast, heavily armed, has a hyperdrive, and a stealth-like edge with it's sensor confusing tech. Still, the TIE Baron comes across as more ideal than the Whisper, and a natural evolution of the Interceptor: shielded, variety of weapons, also a bit smaller than the Whisper - and smaller is harder to hit 😉
So if you're gonna include Legends exclusive ships, you should include the Legends history on the others. i.e. the TIE Defender was originally created by Grand Admiral Zaarin in the TIE Fighter: Defender of the Empire game series. It was meant to be his advantage over the Emperor's loyalists during his coup attempt. He would be defeated by Admiral Thrawn who was then promoted to Grand Admiral to replace Zaarin. The only other ship that could defeat the TIE Defender was the Cygna Missile Boat. Rebels actually portrays the TIE Defender like its another TIE Fighter but with a lot more fire power and speed. The real TIE Defender was so much of a threat that even the Empire limited its production after Zaarin's coup attempt. Quad Ion Canons, Quad Laser Cannons, Dual Missile Load and can carry up to Heavy Bombs. Hyperdrive. Regenerative Shields. Life Support. It could still fight even if it lost a wing. It was pretty much the answer to the rebellion's A-wing. Badass ship and I do hope we see more of it in Ahsoka s2. Its first appearance outside of the video game and in canon, is not Rebels. Its actually in Return of the Jedi Remaster. You have to look for it during the space battle and its very brief. It was added as a nod to the video game since it was such a popular game at the time.
There also seem to have been different designs of the Defender in Legends. The one from TIE Fighter (my no. 1 favorite TIE of all times) has a longer fuselage and is more reminiscent of the Avenger, while the one shown in this video is shorter and looks more like an Interceptor with an additional wing.
My favourite TIE Fighter Models are: TIE Dagger 12:40 TIE Interceptor 4:10 TIE Silencer 12:09 TIE Advanced X1 5:40 First Order TIE Fighter 11:43 Imperial TIE Fighter 0:36

My personal favorite TIE is the TIE Hunter. You miss the TIE Clutch, the TIE Blur, the TIE Electronic Warfare variant, and the TIE Intercepter's Royal Guard variant.
@@GZiz84 Hunter has a hyperdrive, shields, twin ion cannons, a munitions launcher tube normally mounting proton torpedoes on top of the normal TIE laser cannons.
I love the design element of the TIE Striker. It's wings are horizontal because it's designed to operate in an environment where the sunlight is coming mostly from the top. I also really love that when Lukas first designed this vehicle, the ion engine was actually already in use in space-only aircraft, and it WAS solar powered. It's like he was trying to come up with something which could develop from already existing tech.
Awesome video! I don’t know if it would count for this list, but it one of the X-Wing books they describe a TIE ugly that is the tie fighter cockpit with Y-wing nacelles.
There are two variants of the original Tie fighter. The one originally seen in the first two movies, and then the one produced as a toy, which was then modeled for ROTJ. The toy used, I believe, was a die-cast model (the Kenner version) of the Tie Fighter, which featured wider and shorter panels versus the narrower and taller panels shown in the original movie. In addition, they were white versus dark grey, included a hyperdrive and they had three cannons. So, yeah. There are two versions. The standard Tie Fighter and the Tie Fighter/Vigilant, which was less common.
TIE Avenger or TIE Advanced x1. I love the Defender, but the TIE Advanced was the closest thing to an X Wing the Empire ever fielded. As a TIE Fighter PC fan, I love flying this craft whenever they let you.
So if I understand this right: X-Wing = TIE Fighter Y-Wing = TIE Bomber Air Speeder = TIE Striker A-Wing = TIE Interceptor B-Wing = TIE Defender U-Wing = TIE Shuttle E-Wing = First Order TIE Fighter
You are missing the TIE scout. Its the one they created to retcon how Ben Solo was able to go from the Death Star 2 remains to Exegol in The Rise of Skywalker. Basically a regular TIE that can jump to hyperspace.
I never expected to find a TIE fighter worse than the tie Hunter, when the s-foils are not in attack position you literally can't fire the guns because the power required for the guns cannot be fired, the power stored for the ship it's not enough to fire the cannons so you have to only rely on the solar panel wings
another funny thing about Darth Vader's Tie Advanced X1 is its said to have better targeting computers, but vader always calls upon the dark side to actually aim instead of using it, even said and did this in a comic book, i just think its goofy because why not give that computer so someone without force abilities lmao, but ig vader needs aim assist on sometimes like cruise control in a car lmao
Interesting to see all these TIE variants. I admit I only know the ones shown in the movies and the games. There's only one imperial fighter bomber that kind of remains a mystery, which is the Assault Gunboat. Not a TIE, I know, but still..
Tie interceptors, fun fact. Grand admiral thrawn made them have shields later to make them more like x wings in durability but still keep the deadly speed. Also my favorite is Tie Phantom.
Give me the TIE Hunter and the TIE Silencer any day. The TIE Hunter was basically an insanely fast X-Wing. It has more weapons such as ion cannons and proton torpedoes as well. It also comes with shields and a hyperdrive. The TIE Silencer is basically the performance car of the canon Star Wars universe. It runs peak starfighter flight performance while still staying cool. @@Casey093 tbh they needed the second death star to bait the rebellion in, if the empire fleet had numerous squadrons of tie defenders and a few interdictor class ISD's the rebellion fleet would've been toast. The interdictors would've prevented the rebel fleet from escaping using their gravity Wells and the tie defenders either using ion cannons disabling smaller escorts and outclassed most rebel fighters
No love for the 'Uglies'? The Tie-Wing was a variant that was essensially a TIE cockpit with Y-Wing engine pods bolted to it. A cheap fighter knocked up by pirate clans that was so shoddy they were also known as 'Die-wings'.
The iconic engine sound of the TIE FIghters i've always related to the howling of Wolves. Note: Glad to see you included all the TIE Fighters from X-Wing Alliance's Mission Ensnare Imperial Prototypes.
Well, the ghst wasn't that fast so there were prolly multiple tie's capable of outrunning it like the normal defender or interceptors. It's almost like saying "this su71 perhaps could even outrun a c 130". Just compare hera's ghost with the spec's of the millenium falcon n u will see how slow it really was. Yet the falcon's reputation for spead also is most likely refering to it's hyperdrive n not ther sublights. The interceptor was only 50kmh slower (about 30mph) even in atmosphere, than the falcon after it's heavy upgrade for the sublights. That means a defender could outrun that 4 sure.

*¡the tie 👔 fighter is a twin ion engine!* - 1:44 am Pacific DayLight Savings Time on Saturday, 1 June 2024 leap year - Max Rafael Waller as Max Waller
TIE Fighter (Imperial) TIE Bomber Vader's TIE Fighter TIE Interceptor TIE Dagger TIE Defender TIE Silencer TIE Baron Mining Guild TIE Fighter TIE Fighter (First Order) & TIE Bomber (First Order) are my favourite TIE Fighters
Having played tie-fighter and x-wing vs tie-fighter games back in the day I have a soft spot for the trusty tie defender.
This MF was deadly and fun to fly and saved my life more times during missions than I can remember.
If the project wasn't cancelled and they were produced in larger numbers the battle of endor would've ended far differently and in the empires favor
Once you can handle the TIE Interceptor, the Tie Defender feels like luxury. It's almost as fast and has such a well-rounded feel.
Yeah, if they had produced a few dozen ISDs and plenty of Tie Defenders instead of 2 death stars, the rebellion would not have stood a chance.
I love the tie mauler
8:25 that's a screenshot from space engineers XD
“…as he wished to counter the growing rebel threat.”
**sad Grysk noises**
Royal Guard Interceptor. Missed that one. I became an ace in that ship
The TIE Interceptor is the best TIE 💯
You forgot Dark Helmet's Business Tie. LOL
I don't know why, but the tie predator is my absolute favorite ship in star wars.
12:50 kinda reminds me of the Red Baron from WW1
No love for the 'Uglies'? The Tie-Wing was a variant that was essensially a TIE cockpit with Y-Wing engine pods bolted to it. A cheap fighter knocked up by pirate clans that was so shoddy they were also known as 'Die-wings'.
Sounds like my basset hound barking😂
My favourite is the tie interceptor and whisper
10:33
So, basically Star Wars' (or more specifically, The Empire's) take on Nazi Germany's V1?
The TIE Reaper just looks
mwah 🤌🏼
Even better than having a basically boring normal sounding car. Having a car that sounds like a TIE fighter
The iconic engine sound of the TIE FIghters i've always related to the howling of Wolves. Note: Glad to see you included all the TIE Fighters from X-Wing Alliance's Mission Ensnare Imperial Prototypes.
Ngl, I think the Lancet Aerial Artillery looks pretty awesome
The tie fighter that Finn was in was not the normal fighter. There was another version, SF fighter I think it’s called
The Tie Interceptor and Tie Brute are my top two favorites. The First Oder also had there own version of the Tie Brute
I've always been a fan of tie interceptor and the avenger
Even though I hate the sequel trilogy, my favorite TIE is by far the TIE Dagger. It's so beautiful looking.
Just realized TIE fighters are basically the AK equivalent of Star Wars fighters😂
Kylo REN’s tie had a menacing look to it tho
Empire at War taught me that the TIE Defender wins wars.
scimitar assault bomber is just plain good for no reasons
I wish people would cover the Thai torpedo bomber.
All and every single tie in this video will be in my fleet
The TIE Hunter is the most underrated TIE variant of all time, and the ship the First Order should have used as its primary starfighter.
TIE Fighters may look advanced.... but they have an aerodynamics to that of a brick on earth.
i wish i had the tie intercepter it have been my favorite since i was a kid
By the way Japan has something like the tie and the stormtrooper put together in the zaku 2
