Were it not for exorbitant taxes, high crime, poor schools full of numbers of fatherless children on welfare, and bad weather,,Schenectady would be a great place to live .I gave up after being taxed out my 1200 sq ft Stockade home seven years ago. Taxes exceeded the mortage- making it a no deal
Avoid Schenectady, look for a house in Niskayuna, or if you must live in Schenectady, try Upper Union Street or the GE Realty plot. All areas have high property tax.
Yeah if you raise your family in schenectady they will be safe but certainly speaking ebonics and just know schenectady never gets their fair share of funding for education. Im 22 and from this city

While Schenectady appears well kept and not as destitute but deindustrialization still did serious economic damage to this city.
