I only got Dwellings recently, like 3 months ago. It is such a fun game and the variability is off the charts with all the elements. All the different factions are great and you have a lot of choices to pick from. I've been loving this game a lot. Great lists and video!

@@SamHealey6Sam I am with you! I had the same experience and feelings about Terrific Mystica (and all those other dull, too heavy, point salad euros). Good to see you, and your game choices, back in a top 100 🙌🏻. I see so many games on your list that I have, am sympathetic about or wanna play 🤝🏻. It brought me back to the days at The Dice Tower when you showed me these thematic, fun, immersive boardgames. Some nostalgia here.
Sam, I just stumbled across your new channel today and I'm so happy you're reviewing and giving your take on games again. I always appreciated your critique on games (even when you were being hyperbolic) because you helped me to confidently pick only the BEST party games, abstracts, and dexterity games (and other genres you don't love) that appealed to a broad group of people. I have hosted many game nights and have had to introduce games to many strangers which can be intimidating especially when a game can fall flat. Your past input helped me to pick a broad variety of games I feel comfortable introducing to groups of people I don't even know. Sometimes when one person doesn't like a game 5 others do and that's great in my book. Also listing to your criticism of certain games helped prepare me for those reactions at the table and your past critiques/musings helped me to not take it personally when someone didn't like a game. THANK YOU.
I hope in the future you might consider making a video series "Why ______ doesn't work for me." where you recognize why a game is popular, but articulate why it doesn't click for you. I personally found that side you you very helpful.
Thanks for that feedback! I don’t know if it’ll be a series, per se, but in my reviews, if I don’t like a game, I’ll be honest about it, do basically what you’ve proposed, and then focus on the positives it has and give reasons why I think other will like it. So, I think we’re on the same page, but it might roll out a bit differently. Thanks for being here!

JT’s top ten looks very similar to mine. I have Terra Mystica, Cthulhu, Brass Birmingham and Vital Lacerda games all near the top of my list. Makes me want to try his number one game now. As for Sam’s list, uh, well, I am sure Sam really enjoys all of those games! I do like Sam’s #1, though, and I was just thinking it’s been too long since I played it.

@@Oaklestat Yes! Terra Mystica has already been my favourite game for half a decade, but Age of Innovation feels like a solid second edition of Terra Mystica combined with a stellar expansion. The game feels like a more open, flexible Terra Mystica. I would still probably rather teach Terra Mystica to new players because it is easier to wrap your head around, but I prefer what they have done with Age of Innovation, and I think it might win some people who went to Gaia Project back to something closer to the original formula.
@@SamHealey6 Ooh, also, I would recommend you give a little more time to Cthulhu Death May Die, because while I know the theme doesn't necessarily do as much for you, it is on the sillier side of the Cthulhu spectrum. It's like a series of Arnold Schwartzeneggar or Roland Emmerich movies with a Cthulhu theme. Silly action movie Cthulhu is the best kind, IMO. I think if you play it more you will appreciate how goofy it is AND that it really respects your time. In a dozen plays, I have never had it feel like it dragged too much. (The last time I played, we died on my second turn, but my friend was rolling against me, and she's a little TOO good with dice, if you understand.) But up to you. I know you have tried it, but if it can warm the heart of this soulless heavy euro gamer (only ameritrash game in my top 10), I think you might appreciate it all the more if you give it a few more chances.
Watched all of the series, what fun ride! Some great games 😮 There's a few that I haven't played yet that are now on my radar. I.E. Deception & Kanban EV amongst others 😊

Yeah, I really enjoy Flamecraft a lot. Inis, too, but it won’t ever topple the mighty Blood Rage…lol!

Sam I've watched lots of your top 10 list as well as top 100's never a disappointment nice to see Onitama join the top 10, your list and playthroughs / reviews pointed me in the directions of Memoir' 44 and Blood Rage some time ago love all 3 (that I listed) thanks so much for getting me into some great games over the years.
Age of War and Fairy Tale are 2 other's you got me into just to name a few other's.

Curious to know. Have you guys played Dead Reckoning? It's a sort of hybride sandbox pirate themed game. With storylines in the saga expansion content. I think you will like it a lot, maybe JT more than Sam. Would love to hear your thought on it.

Not sure how much this resonates Sam, but I also played and hated Terra Mystica and then played Gaia Project which is in my top 20. Night and day as far as I am concerned.
Kanban EV is also my favorite Lacerda and in my top 5. Awesome game!

Hi JT. My wife and I love Gaia Project too. But we found that we always just need a couple of more turns to really get up high enough on those tech tracks, so we add two more turns at the end. Do you find that you are able to get very high on any of the tech tracks with the amount of turns that are the default in the rule book?
I can usually hit the top of 1 to 2 tracks during a standard game. But that does come at the cost of other track progress. JT

Great hearing your top picks! I was wondering if Blood Rage was still Sams nr1 and now I know. I want to try Spirit Island, might pick up that cheaper introduction version that is availible. I got a notification yesterday that my Marvel Zombicide pledge will probably arrive tomorrow.. looking forward to checking it out, got in on all except the Galactus expanison. Impressive guesses by J.T but I guess you know each other well.

It just doesn’t make the table. I’ve played TI4 more recently than I’ve played JoA. I really enjoy it, don’t get me wrong, but if TI4 slipped as much as it did for non-playment, you can follow that logical progression for JoA.
