    I am totally with you on the big eye-roll for mindfulness knitting. I fail to see how the "inspirational words" printed on the needle shaft has any bearing on a person's ability to knit, but they are nice to knit with. I found them too slippery for superwash yarn, but I would probably find that to be true for all metal needles. Thank you for such an in-depth review; your honesty is very valuable!

      Thank you Shelley. Yes the inspirational words are silly as you can't see them as you knit anyway as they're covered by the stitches but companies will jump on trends as a marketing thing. 😁

    +1 on the eyerolling mindfulness theme. The marketing shennanigan put me completely off of this line initially. But the material and needle tips made me reconsider.
    I haven't knitted in years and years, so was really debating what needles to get. Becuase I'm doing a lot of tunisian crochet, I wanted needles that we're compatible with Knitpros interchangable tunisian crochet hooks as I want to play around with using mixed techniques.
    This and your other reviews on Knitpro and Lykke needles allowed me to make the final selection and opting for the full gratitude set. If the metal needles prove too slippery in the beginning I can always get a few specific sizes of wooden knit pro needles as needed.
    Thank you for the highly informative reviews!

      I'm so glad my reviews were helpful. Mixing Tunisian crochet & knitting sounds interesting.

    I'd rolled my eyes at the 'Mindfulness' malarkey, but after watching your review, I went ahead and ordered some cables and short tips, to speed up my knitting of sleeves. I love the cables and they fit all my existing knitpro needles, so thank you for sharing.
    Knitpro should pay you a commission, because had I not watched you, I wouldn't have touched this collection with a barge pole!!
    Happy knitting 😉

    I bought these because the colours and styling match my hand-painted spinning wheel. I love them

    Thank you for the review, wonderful coverage of the needles. I have purchased the 4 inch “Kindness” set along with some 2.5 mm for sick knitting and they are all really lovely. Using them for shawls. I do love the mindful branding but can also see why it was selected as really big with the younger generation.

      Yes I see why they went for Mindful but you can't see the words printed on the needles when you knit. Very nice needles though.

    I like the Kindness set. This is the 1st time I've seen a KnitPro interchangeable set with short needles and cables.

    Thank you for your honest review. I'm new to knitting and decided this is something I'd love to do for a long time. I'm clueless as to which set I should get, and your video really helped me a lot. 🙂

    How has the mindful cords held up for you? I'm currently deciding between these and Chiagoo, but have read some people say the cords snapped at the join on them. Have you run into any issues at all?

    • @AnnikenAllis
      @AnnikenAllis  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't used mine a lot because I don't have too many sizes yet but planning to get more. Because I have lots of Chiaogoo they're my go to. I meet a lot of people in my workshops who have the Mindful needles & not heard of any issues. However in the past I've had both Knit Pro (the old ones) & Chiaogoo snap where the cord joins the needles. If you know where you bought them from you can return them & they should be replaced. Also be careful not to overload the needles. Use longer cords if you have lots of stitches. I'm bad at not doing this & that can make cords snap.

    Maybe I missed it in your video, but could you please tell me a bit about the join? You know, when you slide the stitches across from the cable, do they catch at all? Thanks for recording this :)

    • @AnnikenAllis
      @AnnikenAllis  ปีที่แล้ว

      I find the join very smooth. Not had any problems. I have only tried 4mm size but have spoken to several people since I recorded this who like the needles.

    I know you mentioned chiaogoo circulars but i wonder if u could go a little more into detail into their differences? specifically the cord, which would u say is more flexible? i tried out a fixed chiaogoo and the cord was a bit more rigid & thicker than the pryms circulars i have. I plan on doing magic loop so thats probably important. Thats the extent of my experience with wire coated cables. i do like the feel of the chiaogoo needles they are slicker than plastic and wood which i like but not too slippery. Not sure if that opinion will change as im a beginner. i have my eye on the nova platina cubics, so i expect the mindful cables to work on then but i have yet to try either out. while im here, the mindful needles are more slick than chiaogoo, right? Should i expect the platina cubic to be more slippery? (I wonder if ill like that, the chiaogoo seem to be a middle ground in that case but i value ergonomics because i have weak hands 😢)

    • @AnnikenAllis
      @AnnikenAllis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't tried the platina cubics but I think the Mindful needles are more slick than Chiaogoo but the cables feel bit thinner & more flexible. However I use Chiaogoo for magic loop all the time.

      @@AnnikenAllis ahh yeah seems like the chiaogoos r the grippiest of the metal needles and nice to kno they work well with magic loop. Thank you for letting me know how the cables compare too. Yay

    Hello dear Anniken,
    Thank you very much for the in-depth review. I own both the Kindness and the Belief sets from the Mindful Collection and I would like to ask you if you could please help me to compare these needles with the lace needles from HiyaHiya. I am very curious about the HiyaHiya brand, I have never tried them out.I would like if you please could tell me the differences between them. I am considering trying out the HiyaHiya needles but I don’t know if it would be worth it. I thank you very much in advance for your help. Best regards

    • @AnnikenAllis
      @AnnikenAllis  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Have you seen my Hiya Hiya review? The Knit Pro Mindful needles have a cable that is straight & doesn't get all kinky & twisty which Hiya Hiya Hiya does but Hiya Hiya have sharper points. Knit Pro Mindful points are pointier than some of the other Knit Pro needles like Zing but less pointy/sharp than Hiya Hiya.

      @@AnnikenAllis hi dear Anniken,
      First of all, I would like to thank you very much for your reply. Yes, I have seen your in-depth review about HiyaHiya needles. Very good review. I am loving my Mindful needles. They are sharp but they do not hurt your fingers. I have also Addi lace, short and long and I also love them. My question about HiyaHiya was because they have a very complete interchangeable needle set, dare sharp deluxe plus set, that contains 16 pairs of needle tips and seven cables with all length sizes. I would have praticlly all sizes and all cable lengths on my disposal. But if you say that the cables kink, I hate that and will not invest that money. I thank you very much for your help and wish you all the best.

    I am assuming the lace tips in 10mm will be suitable for knitting a blanket with the swivel cable. This will be my first pair of circular needles or can you recomnend anything else

    • @AnnikenAllis

      I rarely knit with such big needles but yes I think it'll be fine. I imagine the swivel tips will make it easier.
