@@RetroFoxZach Sounds great! Thank you for your business. Since the aftermarket cable does have the adjusting capability, you'll run the first jam nut down until tension/pre-load is achieved on the cable. Then, tighten the jam nuts against each other. Verify that the parking brake shoes are not engaged when the handle is at rest. If the shoes are engaged, you have too much preload. -Landan
How does this compare to using the parking brake handle out of a 94-98 car? Is that possible as an alternative? I heard there was a bracket or something that Ford sold that accomplishes the same task as welding
Yes. You can use a 94-98 Mustang parking brake handle as long as it has the recall part. In most cases, it's easier to just modify the Fox handle instead of tracking down the 94-98 stuff. Most people use the Cobra handle since it was leather wrapped. -Landan
@@latemodelrestoration and the 94-98 handle would be a drop in change using the disc brake cables? Its just easier for me than finding someone to weld it.
@@1SirCarlton Yes, the 94-98 SN95 handle bolts directly to a Fox floor pan. You'll have to make sure the handle has the part that was added during the recall. It's a small bracket that bolts to the top of the handle near the pawl. This serves the same purpose as welding. The part number is 1R3Z-2A753-BA. -Landan
Could you do an in depth video on how to change brake pads and rotors? Kind of like how you guys had the LMR basics, I just want to know the proper steps to replace some front rotors and pads
Does any of this apply to the early Fox Mustangs? I have a 1979 V6 car with a Thunderbird TC disc brake rear end and plan on running the LRS-2635D cables.
The early fox's should have a manually adjustable ebrake. If you have a console you'll have to get into it but non console cars have a small cover that opens from the back side
If you have gone through all of the steps shown in the video, then I would recommend giving us a call at 1-866-507-3786 or email us with the link and one of our customer service representatives can assist you with that: lmr.com/contact
What do u mean weld the pawl to the 2nd to the Last tooth so pull the E brake handle all the way back like u are using the E brake or when u first start to pull the E brake up weld the 2nd or 3rd tooth to the pawl I am confused anybody help me out!!
What is ridiculous? Everything they show in this video was posted on the corral 15 years ago in the tech forums. Before even watching this video I said to myself "cut the click spring, cut the tab, weld to the 3rd gear (they say 2nd, but close enough) and replace the center cable, and the two long cables."
@@Kevins93cobra Kevin, i know this is a old comment but just wanted to ask, whats the point of this brake handle conversion? i have a 91 and a 89 and Ive been wanting to do a rear brake conversion for quite some time and i knew all the complete steps to do it according to like 5 different ways to do the conversion from getting your own parts to complete kits but i have never heard about having to fool with the handle and i mean ever. I just happened to be browsing the internet and ran into this video, whats the matter with it?parking brake wont work right if you dont do this? thank you for your time.
I did my own 5 lug conversion except the rear axles and gear I bought a $99 welder just to do that....thank for not having ads in your videos
Finally! I was wondering when you guys were going to do a video for the parking brake!
Thank you for your kind words, please make sure you are subscribed to our channel!
Does this have to be done if you are just rebuilding the factory drums and replacing the parking brake cables and adjusting cable?
No. You only do this when converting to rear disc brakes. -Landan
@@latemodelrestoration thanks! Ordered it!

I have a SN95 whole rear with disc brakes in my fox body. Would this kit make the parking brake work correctly?
Yes, this is the required step when doing any disc brake conversion.

I will make sure to pass this idea along to the video team for further evaluation.
Good luck on saying in depth! LMR DOESNT go into in depth of its videos! Too bad there are not more companies who sell Fox stuff.
This is applicable to IRS swapped foxes too yes?
This will be for any 87-93 rear disc conversion including the IRS applications as well.

I accidentally fixed this when i went irs by eliminating my center console and using an early 80s ebrake and cover
how does it stay engaged when u pull up to engage the parking brake because your welding it?
Hi Stephan,
The parking brake is not engaged when welding the parking brake. The brake will be disengaged during the whole process.
I have an 86 with a 5 lug swap what would i need to get the parking brake to work?

Do you have a part number for the rear cables and the new cable to put on the handle or are they only available in the brake kit? Great video.

You can use this link to check out our parking brake cable selection - lmr.com/products/79-93-Mustang-Parking-Brake-Components

When you first start to pull the e-brake. So the 2nd or 3rd tooth when disengaged.
Awesome!
THANK YOU!
Man, I really wish you guys sold a rear disc brake kit. 😞
Why couldn't you use the handle from the 95-04 mustangs. Along with the cables
I just used the cables and it works fine
That what i did... no issues..
I see what's left of that spring vibrating like hell
Do you need that clock spring at all?
You don't have to do this if you use a 85/86 e brake. Everything is all ready to go.
You are correct, this only applies to the 87-93 handles.
What is all i need to do i have a 86 4cyl and want to go 5 lug disk brakes
Another fox body vid
Thanks for the video, but now more $ spent ...... :)
This parking brake fiasco is a big reason more don't convert, we don't mind doing the brakes but this cable is ridiculous.
