    The reverse problem is bad too. I started out with a grip so loose you could pull the racquet out of my hand mid-swing. That was a huge power leak for me. Balance between the two is best.

    The thumb 👍 is not a finger...love it! Good point. I always turned my 🎾 around so that the handle faced my younger student and told them to grab hold of my Racquet by the handle just tight enough so I can't take it from them- then I gently tugged from the racquet frame. If I pulled it away...too loose, if the student was clutching too hard I pulled harder and told them their grip was too tight.

    Hello,
    Thanks for the amazing tips. Do I need to start hitting my forehands with the 3 finger grip as you mentioned or is it just a drill to loosen the grip ?

      Hi Manoja, the 3 finger technique is a practice tool but we have has students use it temporarily in a practice match just as a reminder to keep the hand loose. Hope this helps!

    That three finger grip gets uncomfortable after a while. You can get finger abrasions. It's really not hard to be relaxed on your normal grip if you have enough weight on your racket. You can apply lead tape to the racket head or use advanced rackets. Once you swing with the weightier racket, then you can go back to your normal racket in a relaxed way. Its a lot like pro baseball players using a heavy ring at the end of the bat as they take warm up swings.

      Wally Friend it’s just a training technique my man, not intended to be used in competitive play.

    Is it bad that I hit all my groundstrokes pretty much with my first few fingers?

    • @Playyourcourt
      @Playyourcourt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To each their own my friend. Keeping the hand loose is ideal as long as the racquet remains stable.

    Most pros does not use 3 fingers to hold the racket they use death grip

    I was just done reading about a different "kind" of death grip, and so for the first two minutes I wasn't sure if this was all a clever euphemism or in fact actually tennis related... Sorry 😅

    • @Playyourcourt
      @Playyourcourt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well don't go using the "other" death grip on the tennis court either! 😉🤣

    Hello. Is it feasible to hold the racket with only the bottom two finger while hitting a forehand ?

    • @Playyourcourt
      @Playyourcourt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      James100707 without using the thumb it would be rather difficult. Never say never though.

    If the thumb is not a finger, then what is it?

    • @Playyourcourt
      @Playyourcourt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shane Jones the medical term for the thumb is pollex. (Sounds like a finger to us) ;) lol.
