I had immense trouble initially bleeding the brakes on my 1954 Zephyr Six (presumably the same system as the Consul's). I got nowhere using the method described in the Zephyr workshop manual. In the end I got the car trailered to a local garage. The garage owner told me he could not do it 'It must be the master cylinder needs replacing'. 'How do you know that?' 'Because you have replaced everything else'.
I had checked the master cylinder on the workbench and it seemed to work fine. All the same I ordered a new (reconditioned) master cylinder. The garage owner reported that the system was now correctly bled. I surmise that he had a problem with the new cylinder also, but he rigged up a pressure bleeder and got the job done.
The firm feeling of the brake pedal on a correctly bled system is truly rewarding. Well done.
I like the continental spare on the consul.

Nice Consul. You done a good job bleeding the brakes. It sounds like the next priority job is a service & a good tune up. I'd be interested in buying it if it Peter ever decides to sell
