@@animalanalyticsas someone who had both Latin and Ancient Greek in school, i appreciate you taking the time to point out those variants, and also appreciate you opting for "octopusses" if i want to be mean, i typically go for "octopodes" but pronounce it _ok-TOP-od-eeze_
I would very much appreciate/like to see Polypterids covered. They are very interesting, convergently evolved to have lobed or near lobed fins, breathe air from the top of their heads, and have a whole host of other rather unique traits. Plus the group doesn't have a particularly large number of species and all of which are rather unique from each other.
paper nautilus's (although actually octopus in the genus argonautidae) are very interesting cretures and I think a shoutout would've been well desrved. Especially since the name can be a bit confusing. Their shell is actually completely unrelated to the ancestral mollusk shell (which are lost in octopuses and internalized in squids and cuttlefishes). Only the females have it and they actually create it only to put their eggs in. I found one alive clinging to a rock in Baja Califonria once, and they're shells can be found all along the sea of cortez on the beach in relatively low population areas (higher population areas usualy have their beaches stripped of all the shells that would naurally be there). Great video by the way! really informative, I haven't seen your content before but I enjoyed it enough to subscribe
I got a little confused around 3:50 when you said, 'They were a mollusk, not a cephalopod'. I don't know what it's referring to given your trilobite comment.
5:12 one of the most intelligent INvertebrates.
I'm pretty sure "octopuses" or simply using "octopus" for both singular and plural have been considered more correct than "octopi" for a while now.
Probably, but it wouldn't stop someone going "well, actually..."

Thank you very much. I have learned a lot from this video.
wish we knew more about these creatures with such an ancient lineage. gonna need EV Nautilus to step it up!
nautiluses also get an appearance in the popular sandbox game Minecraft, exclusively as an item.
Trilobites are arthropods
Correct - no idea how I got that wrong!
Just in case you didn’t notice, the tusk shell you showed actually has a hermit crab inside it, not the original organism

Yes, sorry - as others have pointed trilobites are actually arthropods, so are much more distantly related.
@animalanalytics No problem. I enjoy your videos, I just wanted to bring attention to it incase it was an error.
You forgot the paper Nautilus
I watched all this vid - which was very good - waiting in vain for an image of any kind of the animal ratger than its shell.
