Scrolling along and found this video; what a Blessing to find someone my size who explains things in a way a new beginner can understand. You made me feel as if we were in the room together!
Thank you for showing the whole process, I have a big piece of fabric to sew a dress for a cousin and I have been shy of starting it. She has a large bust and I want it to turn out just right. You have encouraged me to start.
Thank you!!! I know it will turn out great! If you want to be sure of the exact cut, I recommend making a muslin first. I always make muslins out of fabric that is in my stash or not very expensive, that way I can wear it later if I love it. If I don't like it, I donate it. Everybody wins. Lol!
I started watching because I admired the dress and then I realized the pattern you used is the same one I just purchased!! I was so excited to watch because I’m impatiently waiting for mine to arrive in the mail. Thank you for sharing!! 😊 I can’t wait to get started. I hope mine comes out just as beautiful as yours did ❤
Hi, Stacie! I'm a Stacy also :) Just wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much I enjoyed your video, and your easy/entertaining way of communicating what you were doing :) I am a longtime crocheter/knitter and I have always been fascinated with the idea of one day learning to sew and making my own clothes, but I always thought it might be more than I could do. Fast forward to about a month ago, and I have decided to buy me a machine and just go for it...haha!!! Kind sewists such as yourself who have taken the time to share how to videos that are very helpful to us beginners are very much appreciated. I'm learning a lot, and am enjoying the whole process. My only problem now is forcing myself to stop playing in my sewing room and getting myself into bed at a decent hour! Thanks again - your dress is absolutely lovely!!!
@@stacyd.8672 First off, I love your name! Lol!!!! Second, this comment is simply precious!!!!!! When I first bought my sewing machine in 2017, it sat in the box for six months. I was scared to jump into it. After taking a many baby steps, I built up the nerve to buy my first commercial pattern. I still can’t believe I did it. You will love sewing! NOW, I want to try crocheting/knitting. Other than hair, I’ve never crocheted a thing. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hi, love your positive upbeat personality. You're wonderfully creative and I Looooove the outfit. I think I will have to find this pattern and make it too. Blessings from NZ.
New subscriber here. You came across my timeline. I crochet, quilt, sew & embroider. Glad I stopped and listened 💜. EnVery nice dress & shoes. You look lovely 🥰
Yes use a walking foot anytime all of the time. Unless you need a specialty foot like a zipper foot leave the walking foot on. It solves so many problems like puckering.
I purchased a sewing machine. I Can’t sew nothing 😆! Well, I can do hems. I have always wanted to learn how to sew. I gonna teach myself. Maybe not this project. The way my luck set up 😆. Baby steps baby steps
@@vannasgran6176 Awe love, you’ve got this. Slow and steady wins the race. Get some inexpensive fabric and practice as much as needed. I must admit, this pattern is extremely beginner friendly. Make as many of these as you want. 😘
Lovely dress - I liked the cutting tooly ou used - haven't seen one like that before - where did you get it please? I thought the walking foot used to make the rolled hem is fantastic, What you are referring to as a neck band is actually a facing. You are missing the facing peice that should be included in he pattern or if you chooset o cut a piece yourself you should try cutting it out on the diagonal of the fabric for a smoother / flatter fit no puckering. That would be like a bias binding made from the fabric. My other suggestion would be to put the seam of the band into the shoulder so that it is not visible when worn. Stitch in the ditch so the sititching can't be seen and consider an overlocker for a neat finnish to your seams this alo helps fabric from fraying. I see you are not giving yourself a wide enough seam allowance Anywats still a nice dress. . .
@@kimburke3189 I prefer heavy duty needles because my stitches tend to skip with ball point. I’ve never damaged my knits with the heavy duty needle, either.
have you noticed that most fabric now is completely see through? i thought it was just me but i have tried a few cottons and noticed it! ooh where did you get them scissors?
Girl, YESSSSS! It can be quite annoying. For that reason, I'm either lining my pieces or wearing a slip. Now, if it's meant to be transparent I'll play with the look by wearing support wear that matches my skin.
Thank youuuu! I learned to sew as a child, but joined Mimi G's online Sew-it-Academy in 2018. I really needed the refresher. It's awesome because she truly teaches from the beginner level. The price is great, too.
Thank you!!! Yeah, I've heard not so good things for a while about HL. Honestly, I sew from my stash. I truly only go into all stores for notions at this point.
@@lucilledaub5991 you can always pause and/or rewind any video. I’m no pro, just a person who felt like sharing my sewing experience with others who share my passion for sewing. Take care, Lucille.

Hi. I just found your channel and I must say your personality is awesome. The dress is beautiful. Do you use a ballpoint needle?
Hi and thank youuuuuu! Honestly, I only use microtex, heavy duty or jean. I find that I have to do a lot of repeated stitches with other needle types.
That was so informative 😢
Thanks ma!!! Love ya!

Do you use a ball point needle for stretch fabrics?
