I once had an old sog trident. It lasted me 8 years. It was an extension of my body. Lost it before it gave out and the clip never broke. I love sog knives.

Very thorough and intelligent review of SOG, this knife and assisted knives. Even with the lock, and if automatic/assisted knives were not illegal in my state, I'd not trust myself with one in my pants pocket (....and there aren't that many letters that need to be opened that quickly!). What really fascinates me is how you catalogue all your cine-snipets that you cut into your reviews.

Hi there, thanks very much for the kind words. I tend to agree with you, spring assist knives aren't really my thing either and this one definitely made me a little nervous in pocket. Lol. The little clips I insert into the reviews does take a bit of time, mostly to find the right one and then to get the timing correct. I enjoy that part of the editing and I hope people get a chuckle from them. Thanks again for checking out the review! Take care.

Really like this knife, with some personal modifications of course. Removed the safety and lightened the liners a touch.

Mine is the same color but has serrations. I prefer a flat blade but none was available so I decided to go with the serrated one. I love it except for a couple of things. The first is those thumb studs. They are sharp. The second is there seems to be some stiction. It can be quite hard to deploy the blade and coupled with those studs, I've got a very sore thumb right now.

I bought another one after I gave away my first one. It is a plain edge and is in urban gray. I love it. The first one gave me a sore thumb. This one is still quite stiff but it comes out every time. I love playing with it. I'm normally more into tactical knives but my Flash is one of my favorites in my collection.

Way less noisy branding. Purpose driven design. Pretty attractive design. I love the sharpening choil. I can live with a spring assist on a tactical folder. The bright coloring looks nice, and makes it look less scary, even though it is a knife that can do scary things. I like it. Cryo treatment is definitely a good thing when it comes to machinability and edge retention. Cryo D2 has performed a bit better in my experience compared to non. Thanks for the review. SOG is finally in the running.

Mine just came in today. First assisted knife for me. I actually thought I would return but boy was I wrong. I actually love this blade so far, the only only thing I would change are the thumb studs, they are pretty abrasive on my thumb, could do with a softer approach on those. Love the knife overall.

I have never been much for locks like this one! The Aegis AT XR was pretty snappy as well! Thanks for the look at the Flash!

Yeah I go back and forth on the lock as well. I went back and forth on reviewing this one or the Aegis, got a good deal on the Fladh so, lol. Thanks for watching brother!

Does anyone know how to de assist this knife ?
    (remove the spring?)

Nice work sir. Great, thorough review. That thing does fly open. I personally find spring assisted unnecessary and a turn off in a well built knife. See my Benchmade Vector review . Just give me a smooth manual knife.

Really good review. I like the size of the handle and blade. The blade sure does come out with authority. Not sure what kind of stress it would put on the Omega spring. That would be interesting to see a long term review on. Looks interesting. Could have done without SOG on the clip but at least it was a little less in your face.

Hi Rick, yeah I've wondered about spring failure as well on these types of assisted knives. I didn't mention the branding on the clip, but should have, but like you I think it didn't bother me too much as it's a little muted. Appreciate you watching as always my friend. Be well.

I just ordered one because unfortunately my Griptilian must of fell out of my pocket. I hope it shows up at some point I would be more annoyed if it wasn't a knife I found camping. I would buy another Griptilian if I didn't have other things I need more. But for $62 I figured it looks like a very nice knife. I wanted a serrated knife that seems to be not as prominent as in the past .

Yeah, it was an interesting knife... I didn't end up keeping it, but I enjoyed it while it was in the collection. Thanks for watching Kevin!

The Sog Cryo D2 is pretty good. Can confirm that it has a lot more edge retention thatn most manufactures D2, depending on the maker. The cutting geometry is not perfekt though, but it does alright.

Hello. I like this one, having large hands i appreciate a good handle size. All the best.

My first impressions. Deep carry is not real easy to dig out of my pocket, but carries fine. The assisted aspect is ok but the force needed to deploy the blade with the thumb stud is more than enough to fly out the blade without any assist, so ok…but. For me the general size and function is good, if it worked like the terminus but a bigger brother then it would be the score of the week for me, but it”s …..ok.

Pretty cool! I do like the xr lock not big on assisted knives but the size and design of this one I think I could deal with it. Great review 👍

Hi there, thanks for checking out the video and welcome to the hobby!! Usually, most knives will have Torx hardware. T6 and T8 are the most common, though sizes vary by knife and manufacturer. A set of Torx bits is a good thing to have on hand if you are getting into the pocketknife hobby. I like Wiha or iFixit brands, affordable and good quality. Thanks again, hope this helps.

Hey there! Appreciate you tracking me down over here. Yeah, it's not necessarily a knife that will stick in my collection for EDC use, but it's pretty well done and at a fair price, and a heck of a spring in there. Ha! Appreciate the support!
