My wife and I did Scenic 12 for the second time a month ago. This time though before heading out we did a big loop starting at Bryce into Kodachrome Basin, down Cottonwood Canyon Rd, out to Page, the Wahweap Overlook and Horseshoe Bend, back through 89A by the Vermillion Cliffs up to Kanab, ate dinner and back to Bryce Canyon. Then the next day we drove from Bryce to Boulder through the Hogback, then Burr Trail and switchbacks to Notom Rd on to Rt 24. Last time we just stayed on Rt 12 all the way to Torrey, also a beautiful drive. You really can't miss in Southern Utah it's all gorgeous scenery. Was there for 16 days this time and it's almost too much to take in.

Superb piece of work, capturing a drive that has thrilled me three times in my lifetime. Thank you! This route always comes to mind first when I tell others about remarkable drives. Driving south to north, things are "mundane," when suddenly There It Is! You top a rise, and, unexpectedly, you are looking down into an almost totally different landscape, into which you are about to descend. Stark, dramatic beauty, and, yes: The Hogback! I wanna go back! Also magnificent on a motorcycle!
I might not be found on that road in Winter. I fell off the turnip truck, but it wasn't yesterday.Believe it or not, travel is sometimes just getting out and doing it. I have friends and family who have a thousand reasons they can't go.Just find one reason--and go...
I drove this road way back in 1993 in a hired car. Came over from Monument Valley via the 'switchback 'dug way and then past Hite to Hanksville. A most beautiful drive, Ended up that day down at Kanab.

twice a day to and from work, escalante to boulder. Sunshine, rain and snow :) love it!

I drive that road a lot during the months of April to October. I am a tour bus operator, very very beautiful area
