  • This blew my mind! I've decided to revist miniature painting, It's been a long time since I've painted minis, and every few years for the last 20 or so I've had the itch but never followed through on it. This time I finally dove in when I decided to use it as some content for my channel. Slap Chop is this new miniature painting technique, or at least new to me, that has increased the speed and quality of my figures 10 fold.
If you're new to the hobby or returning after time a way, a beginner, or an old vet, be sure to give this style a painting a try and tell me how it works for you. Dry Brushing and Painting has never been so Easy!

never was into armies and 40k etc was more into advanced dungeons and dragons running or playing. and lord of the rings middle earth original MERP. i did get into running the warhammer rpg but when they started pumping out early plastic models and w40k etc i lost interest in playing but still painted models. though i do have a w40k death guard army. and i do have a set of 1st edition metal blood bowl high elves. again never played. :)

I'm trying to get into leather working. And your videos have been a big inspiration to me. My go to Arm for Wargaming has all ways been the Orcs, They are funny in a good way, fun to build, fun to paint and to do conversions on. Because they are so mad max like and green that makes them easy and all around fun.... What do you think of the game Mutant League Football?

Just getting into it with the Warhammer 40k Recruit kit. Armies in that kit consist of a small starting force of either space marines or necrons. I'll be learning to play using either of those for awhile and so it's a little too early (for me) to be thinking about building a custom army. Like you I used to paint D&D miniatures a couple decades ago and so I'll be picking up the paint brush again for the first time in 30 years. My teenage son has been wanting to put down the video game controller and spend more time tabletop gaming so we'll be getting into WH together which is kinda fun!!

BLOOD BOWL!! I have a sudden urge to go dig out my original box and paint a team again. Thanks for the change of pace!

Too funny. I'm going through the exact same phase with almost the same timing. Picking up the paint brushes after a 30 year break. Figure selection is pretty incredible now and way better than the die cast D&D figures I had access to back then. I just picked up the Warhammer Recruit set so I could check out what the WH world is all about.

always good to see an old painter get back into it. i love how so many people think this as a new thing. i started painting like this over 30 years ago for speed painting army's. also had to make are own contrast paints and use inks etc. used to always paint black and dry brushing from gray to white. i still use this way for my 3d printed models. i still have all my old miniatures from the day. i love the old metal miniatures. though the modern plastic has much more details. i think a modern metal cast would hold the details just as well. everyone had complains about old metal yes the you had to do a lot cleaning up. but that was all part of the hobby due the low tech way back then to cast. but now i think metal would look great as the mould tech has moved on so much since then. hope to see more miniatures painted from you. keep up the great work love your videos. i do a lot of celtic art free hand and stone and wood carving. but would love to have your skills with leather work.

I've been thinking the same thing. There's definitely those that seem to think all this tabletop war gaming and figure painting is new but both D&D and WH have been around for over 30 years and had steady followings all along. I just dug through the basement and found a bunch of those old die cast D&D figures and yeah....it was always a chore to deal with uneven bases and other casting defects. The new model's quality and detail are pretty incredible and the variety is WAY bigger than I remember back in the 80's when shopping for D&D figures. WH seems to have most of the "mindshare" but there's a gazzillion non-WH creators out there doing pretty incredible stuff.

Would you consider doing a video on painting a miniature with leather paints? My girlfriend inks dice and told me that Angelus purple was one of her go-to paints. I didn’t believe her, tried it for myself, and found it to actually be one of the best purple paints I’ve ever used.
