What I love about Illustrator is that it makes things easy. What I don't like, is that there are so many things you can do, sometimes the simplest thing you want to do, is not so simple. Awesome tutorial. Thanks.
Better way of doing it is: 1. Select your object 2. Go to menu Type > Type on Path > Type on Path Options. 3. In the box that opens up, you can choose from Align to Path > Descender, Ascender, Center or Baseline. There also other options there you can play with.
Lol, I did it accidentally too. I have no idea how I did it exactly, but I'm sure if I keep trying I will figure it out. I will just save & keep my accident as a template.
This is a great start. But usually, the bottom text needs also to sit on the outside of the same circle, not the inside as you have shown. I suppose this requires drawing another circle to accommodate this placement. Or, perhaps that duplicate circle can be enlarged to where the letters are sitting in the same position (outside the circle).

So cool! What I noticed is that then the text is on a circle that is too small, right? And when I change the size of the circle, the text goes crazy big! How do I stop that from happening?
Make your circle smaller where it would line up with the base line of the text. To have text line up with it on the bottom you’d make a circle that lines up with the top of your upper text. Basically two circles that define the inner and out borders for your text. Outside of smaller circle for the top text, inside of larger circle for bottom text
Well how do I do it so that the text wraps around the top of the bottom text?! So that way both texts are outside of the original circle? This way isn’t centered
I know this video is a few years old but it's very good. I want to learn how you can create circles within circles and then make lines as to creating the letter "P" but making all those objects connect with each other to make as one flow of lines creating the letter. Sorry if it sounds confusing. I did it in PS but didn't come out clean because I used shapes and cut the shapes to make it look good but it didn't. I'm trying to learn use Ai more.
• create a shape you want text on (circle, square, polygon) • select "Type on Path" tool & click on that shape you made & type your stuff • select "Selection Tool" (V) & click on that typed shape • you'll see 3 perpendicular lines that you can click and drag - the right and left adjust space for text - the center... - - can be dragged around to move orientation of entire text space - - can be dragged to the inside of the shape to flip text
thanks! your tutorial helped ! just need to go to the point and remember to show what keys from your keyboard you use, and show layers and tools, no all viewers are designers known illustrator, u know!
How do I move the text to the top on the inside of the circle so it’s not upside down? I’ve been trying for days. There are no tutorials that teach this. I would love to know how to do it on iPad too. You would be my hero if you could show me how.
There are two significant problems with this: 1 - The text will not be the same distance from the center as text on top of the circle because the center point is now different 2- The arc of the text on the bottom will be tighter than the arc of the text on the top because the bottom of the text is now aligned to the path. How do you do this so that the text on the top and bottom looks like it's on the same circle?
@UC7HaSJ_SBk4P6aroM_5KM0w yes, I’m making it like this. But it’s not perfect as it can be(if we will have some tool for it, so all the text will be in one circle, but we don’t have) , because this way we do it “on eye”
Select your object and go to menu Type > Type on Path > Type on Path Options. In the box that opens up, you can choose from Align to Path > Descender, Ascender, Center or Baseline. There also other options there you can play with.
This is a really great tool to create logos btw. Thank you for watching!
I hate the way Illustrator is so clumsy when you need to do something quite simple. Why isn't there simply an option in text setting box?
I agree. This software is AWFUL !! It’s so much easier and quicker to work in AutoCAD.
Agreed… lots of extra steps, unnecessarily.
bcs adobe is created by most retarded people on planet :)

Something that should be done simple - Illustrator makes it very difficult.
YOU SAVED MY LIFE, TYSM!!!

But if I put my text on the inside and I want it to be at the top not the bottom, it's upside down. How do I fix this? Thank you for the tutorial!
Great video, but one problem, it took 3:19 to get to the point...
How do I move the text to the top on the inside of the circle so it’s not upside down? I’ve been trying for days. There are no tutorials that teach this. I would love to know how to do it on iPad too. You would be my hero if you could show me how.

How do flip the text but have the text on the bottom be on the outside of the circle not the inside.
There is a step in the video that you might have missed. There is a small guide line you click and drag the text inside the circle.
Thank you for this video its work with me yay!!
Really Helpful, Thanks dear
Awesome Tutorial. Thanks alot
Thank you for this simple tech

Can you create a regular straight text than after that attach it to a circle path?
Thanks from south Korea
Thank you for this tutorial.
i created a circle my own color adn put the text on it and the color dissapears. How do i recover the color shape?
I would just create another solid color circle and place it behind the text circle. Can’t have both at the same time.
