Dr Greger, my husband is 59-years-old. In April of this year he underwent open heart surgery for blocked arteries. He has also been diagnosed pre-diabetic, has diverticulosis, has lupus, has rheumatoid arthritis and hypertension. All of his doctors said diet has little or nothing to do with his diseases and that all his diseases are incurable. After studying you, Dr McDougall, Dr Barnard and Dr Esselstyn, we eliminated red meat and dairy 4 months ago. Two weeks ago we became strict vegans. My husband's angina and shortness of breath are completely gone. He threw away his methotrexate and prednisone. He goes to the gym four hours a week and has lost ten pounds so far. I doubt he will need his lisinopril a year from now. I'm positive he won't need stents down the road. Veganism is nothing short of a miracle.

Dr. Michael Greger has the BEST nutrition presentations I have ever seen!
He should win a Nobel prize for public health awareness.... but the Swedes consume way too many animal products for that to ever happen.
    Thank you Dr. Greger!
    Your work will become legendary!
In a world where people read less and less, and where videos can better educate than books, you are a nutritional Rock Star!

    • @knasttrast7168
      @knasttrast7168 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Please don´t be so ignorant, Sweden has nearly twice as many vegetarians per capita than USA and also generally consumes less animal products. There is no Nobel prize for public health awareness, only for medicine, which is given to people who have contributed to important medical discoveries. While this presentation is great, Greger is just quoting different scientific research that supports his theories and haven't done all the hard work himself.

Another awesome video. Been eating a whole foods, plant-based vegan diet for almost a year and a half now and I've never felt better. Not only for the physical benefits but knowing that I'm reducing my carbon foot print and giving animals a fighting chance. Going vegan is the best thing to do for yourself, for others, and for the planet.

      Cristina Basile
Yes Cristina, in support of your mind set about being a vegan and the power of nutrition to help our bodies heal, most people don't know that seeds have up to 30% more nutrition in the seed than in the plant or fruit. So I invite you to take a few minutes to research this one seed formula that was about 20 years of research to formulate. Dr Leonard's main reason for creating this formula was to help children coming from chemo and radiation. Google ( seed nutrition recover health now ) I have taking this formula because 18 months ago I had extreme chronic left shoulder pain, which I no longer have. Thank you so much Dr Greger for your dedication and your passion for empowering people for better health naturally.

***** Just say no. I don't eat junk food and don't even think about eating it anymore.
Just be sure you eat enough calories throughout the day. Don't deny yourself starches as desired - just try to keep it low fat, whole food, and plant based (e.g. all the brown rice you want).

    • @ImprovingAbility
      @ImprovingAbility 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

***** drown yourself in oatmeal! Organic overnight oats (no instant, no 2 minutes oats) + water in a blender. Add organic whole raw sugar or maple sirup. 300-500 g raw oats per day (equals about 2 liter / 0.5 US gal of oat drink). Will cure all your cravings :)

I was eating a typical bodybuilder diet. lots of eggs, meats, protein powders. I thought it was healthy! That's what the bioscience out there says to do. Unfortunately I fell for it. Everyday was a struggle. yeah I was big and strong but I felt like crap! Extremely moody and tired all the time. I had to drink caffeine constantly. Also my joints hurt and it was difficult to simply go up stairs.
Weighting in at 275lbs I finally came to my senses. Did a complete 180 with my diet.
Fruits, Veg, beans, rice, lentils, bread is the answer. The food is delicious and I've been losing fat effortlessly. The best part though is the clarity and energy that I now have.
I went it without much knowledge. I didn't even know "plant based" was a thing. These videos are a great asset to learning more about this new lifestyle.
    Thanks Doc!

I was scouring the internet for random things tonight. It started of with area 51 then the Hubble telescope then JWST. I googled aliens and contemplated our location on a big floating space rock in the middle of nowhere. Browsing the Fermi paradox left me depressed and lonely.I later somehow found this channel. I used to think vegetarians and vegans are idiots and food is food. Eat anything in moderation. Oh how wrong I was.
I've been ill-informed but no anymore. I'm going vegan(I may still eat fish once or twice a week but I'm staying away from anything that comes from cows(including milk),pigs, chickens etc. I'm not doing this to be accepted into some group or adopt a feeling of superiority, thus looking down on other people that do eat meat. I am a doctor myself, and the majority of doctors agrees on that fruits and veggies are healthy and that meat (especially processed, red meat) is bad for you. There might be some disagreement on just how bad meat is or how strict you should be, but there is a consensus that people are eating too much meat and that they should reduce their intake. So Greg is not going against the majority, basically all doctors are trying to make patients eat more fruits and veggies.

I have fatty liver and trying to reverse it, of course exercise and losing weight can help reverse it but I've been told a low carb type diet can help as high carb foods like bread, crisps and other garbage will when ingesting be converted to fat in the liver, I tried keto but after a few days felt terrible, bloated, had indigestion, headaches after a few days stopped and had a cereal/fruit meal and had a massive rebound of energy which was great I went for a walk even though it was 11pm at night.
A natural Dr advised me to ingest amino acids in foods, for example eggs which have choline which is very important for liver health, amino acids are needed for phase I and II liver detox system to work properly.
You need to eat fats in order for the gallbladder to empty bile/cholesterol sludge right?
But the McDougall diet for example says not to eat any fat or oils.
I thought about trying a vegan keto type diet, but then I'd have to buy into the Keto idea that keto starves cancer by limiting glucose availability for cancer to grow, but cancer first of all can make glucose on its own to survive but now to grow I believe and it uses not only glucose, but glutamine, vit C etc I believe.
Plants and fruits even though have glucose they have important phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals and so whatever diet we do the plants form a basis for many of these healthy diets, keto people also eat many healthy veggies and some low carb fruits such as berries, vegans/vegetarians eat plants of course and even people on the SAD diet eat veggies and fruits and the more they eat the healthier they are and so are advised to get their quota of 5 to 9 a day!
I tell you I have tried a few weird diets and fasting as well, I have been taking 2 meds for 20yrs, since my fatty liver diagnosis I realised I will have to amongst other things (exercise, low BAD carb healthy diet, plus liver friendly diet, meditation etc) stop taking these meds (Prilosec and Paxil) Now I have reduced Paxil from 20mg to 5mg and this believe me has been tough, but I'm still on 20mg Prilosec this I believe is because I'm still too heavy ... a few months ago I was 115kg (BMI - 35.1) now am 102kg (BMI-31.5) my aim is to get to my ideal weight which is 73kg (BMI-24) and so this is why I tried the keto, I did lose weight cause I felt sick:/
And so I was told to eat eggs cause they are healthy for the liver and eating protein in every meal, I assume in order to keep me full and avoiding higher carb foods which are supposed to convert to fat in the liver as this is what I need to avoid, I don't want more fat in my liver.
Can any guys give me advice on my condition?
I tried keto and it didn't work for me cause the higher intake of chicken, butter etc did not agree with my stomach cause I'm taking Prilosec which reduces stomach acid and one needs acid in the stomach in order to digest them, digesting carbs is much easier (for me at least) and partially done with saliva in the mouth even, I believe.
The keto made me feel like not eating anything not even snacks, this also made me avoid breakfast and lunch cause I wasn't hungry, great right? Short feeding window (intermittent fasting success) but that meant that I stayed without taking meds for longer or this is the mistake I made, I didn't take the meds until I ate my breakfast which was around 4pm so this is probably my mistake but anyway I felt horrible and it got boring real quick.
Also for people who have depression/anxiety problems do well on carbs, seeing as you need serotonin rich foods and then high carb meal in order to absorb other amino acids that would otherwise compete with tryptohan nd not allow its absoption in the brain.
Help please, not sure what to do.

Thankyou very much Arya, I suppose the reason I haven't contacted him is cause I don't have much money to pay as I am sure these guys charge for consultations, but maybe I should email him, I could be a great testimnial for him, lol.
Thanks I know of the site and have two of his books, I am driking veggie/friuts juicing and potatoe in the evening, I wanted to do juice fast for as long as possible and then doing a spud fast (potato/sweet potatoes).

Thanks Clarissa, I try to eat mainly organic but manage to eat maybe 50 to 80% organic, I drink evian water but started dinking bottled mineral water (in glass bottles) but yeah maybe I should get a reverse osmosis machine or maybe a water distiller machine?
I just wanted to say that in fish you get mercury and your theory of toxins and fat people sounds interesting.
If we tested most foods even organ you would find heavy metals and toxins inside them, brocolli has carcinogens, plants must have mercury, and bone broth that many are touting has lead - even organic bones, so it isnt easy to avoid these toxic substances, Im not saying that these substances are there in large amount but if you look for them you'll probably find them, imagine ... inside the carrot juices that we drink are toxins, wow. Greeting from London, UK. :)

Thanks Clarissa, Good points,I agree with you of course.
I was just saying it is very interesting that in most food there are some toxins, I found that for example bone broth soup which many drs and gurus say is great for healing the gut has heavy metals like LEAD in it and that is if you use organic bones as well.
Oh here in London its raining :(

You’re metaphor makes no sense. Why would vegans want or consume red meat? Or are you saying this presentation is anathema to vegans like red meat? Or that we can’t accept that this is a biased agenda-driven presentation? Do you know what you’re saying? Look, rather than defending your bacon sandwich or whatever, the best way to see if eating plant based is good for you is to try it! Give it a go and see how you get on. 🌱

cause two risks don't make a right I love Dr. Greger's comfort inside the roman coliseum of red meat carnage and how to defeat the beast of tradition and habits that kill faster every day.
I'm 100 % in on this mission of saving lives and the planet through plant based nutrition and Dr. Greger is my got to source that I quote here in sea of cortez and usa when sparring out in the field of bad foods vs green foods. I find myself in baja mexico today where I'm helping the best fruit vegetable street stand owner who has had open heart surgery and cant feel his feet. Culturally there is a very wide gap here in finding food as medicine and standard foods as suicidal the way its eaten here. I put him on kale and cucumber juices and super berry spinach, hemp and flax smoothies today. In mexico people are amazed with this research and evidence Dr. Greger presents. thx amigo keep the spark of fearless truth coming strong we appreciate it all.

Awesome! I have been waiting to hear someone like him! I knew being a Adventist was right! Ellen G White was a prophet and had visions from God in the 1800's. He told her that meat would be unsafe in the last days. That is why she promoted meatless diets in days when no one spoke of being a vegetarian. So, Dr. Gregor was not the first person to promote a healthy, meatless diet.
