Nice setup! I have a boat very similar. I went with a Honda 2hp. Not as much horsepower…but gets the job done. These are great little boats for one man to fish out of.
My yadao 3.5 starts everytime $200 on Amazon.. love poppy rock but dangerous at night lol people shooting around there well everytime i went. Think at the camping grounds across the road
Welcome to the 3.5 hate club. I even tried the aftermarket carb. I hate my Tohatsu 3.5 I’m getting a fuel injected Suzuki 9.9 as soon as I can afford it.
I watched a mechanic start mine, and after choking it he put the throttle wide open, it started first or second pull he then immediately dropped the throttle down. I do it every time now with no issues
I'm sure you have figured it out that because of the design of the fuel feed is why it takes 15 to 20 pulls to start the first time. After that 1st or 2nd pull starts it. Wonderful engineering on Mercury's part.
@@davidheitman7004 David, My information was from my local Mercury dealer mechanic and if you search TH-cam, you will see others have the same problem. A couple guys have even converted theirs over to a quick connect system. I'm not a newbie. I have owned 4 Bass boats All with Mercury's and a couple john boats with Evinrude's and Johnson motors. I'm 75 yrs old. Been around a few motors. I'm glad yours works like it should.
Yes, The first time is the only time I've had issues (Except when I forget to put the key in). Most of the time it will start within a few pulls. I think It was flooded from transport. The Dealership put gas in and started it at the shop. then it spends a few hours on its side on the way home. I was also following directions on the handle and had it in start position. Once I gave it some gas it started right up. If anything, I think it was just user error
Awesome stuff. Cave run is my home lake. I plan on purchasing a pond prowler here soon. I only fish kayaks right now!!

How’s the motor holding up? This is super interesting for the price. Any pros or cons you can mention?
Not truly a 3.5 though. And you can't register it in California.

Same here, for anyone here looking for a solution. It's the only way mine will start.

PS....after it starts the first time, no problem after that all day long.

I'll never buy a motor that hard to start. Maybe he flooded it the first time?
Bro how many pulls does it take ? Maybe edit a little haha
Hello..whats the manufacturer lable state for max. Hp for this boat..ty😊
3.5 is the Max
What size trailer do you have?
It was originally a 14ft Johnboat trailer.
The merc would have to go , should start first pull every time . Yamaha or honda dude , make an anchor out of that thing
Yamaha's are nice and quiet too.
i would have a motor that started easer than that. i am not impressed with that motor.
