These types of products are nice for seeding projects or even mostly hands off watering regularly. I have the single outlet Melnor I used for my little work project and I used another brand at home for the 4 outlet for my home seeding project
I have one of these. Make sure the water pressure isn't too high or the valves won't open. I went several days without any "watering" and couldn't figure out why. Found out the city water pressure was about 110psi. Had a WPR valve installed and now it works great.
Great review. Watched, but I've got a confession. I enjoy the task of watering early in the morning and keeping track of time on my stopwatch. Haha. I know it's crazy. This season, my goal is to go for a jog/run while I water.
Pressure=Force/area. Pascals law of pressures; basically states that the pressure at any point in the fluid will be equal in all directions. With that being said- if you have 4 valves open and flowing, you will likely need 4x the required pressure to operate them. In my system, all the hoses are the same diameter, but I have different size nozzles on each “end”, this makes it impossible for me to run them all to their full potential at the same time. I could fix this by placing the same nozzle size/gpm flow on each end and make sure their sum is less than the max flow of my spigot. Hope that helps!
Is there a way to bypass programming one of the outlets? I believe it is because I think I was doing it until I reset today and programmed zones 1 and 2. I know that I can turn on either zone (3 or 4) on manually just by pressing the "Manual on/off" button and setting how many minutes I'd like the water to come on, but I'd like to have zone 3 always on and use a valve to keep it closed. Is it possible? or do I have to do what you did with the splitter? I am just worried that my house sitter won't be able to use the water hose with the timer on it and I want her to be able to water or clean up after dogs by turning on the hose itself or a valve.
Alguien sabe si estos sistemas solo funcionan con presion de agua? Pasa que instale uno en una pila pero no sale suficiente agua, o hay alguna manera de modificarlo?
I’m not prepared to bury anymore lines yet!! I have one I did myself around the back porch (before I made vids) and it has worked pretty well. Thanks for watching!
I’m on my 3rd season of using the exact same timer and it still works great. No leaks, always reliable... great product!
That’s awesome! Glad to hear!!
If you don't mind me asking, how long do the batteries last?
Nothing beats having your watering system automated. Its a great peace of mind knowing that it will get done. Cheers dude
For sure man! It was a blessing the first week of seeding.
Wow! The battery compartment came out pretty easily for you. I had to use a pair of pliers. I my timer for a week now and so far so good. Great video.
Wow!! Thanks for watching!

It has been extremely useful during seeding! 👍🏼
@@donslawns1 I bet! My wife hated me when I overseeded my yard last fall.
😅😂🤣😂
Nice job Don! Keep educating us beginners. BTW Nice salmon t shirt! 🤙
Thanks for watching, much appreciated! 🙏🏼

Holy smokes!! Thanks for the tip!!
How much pressure should this be set to ? I am facing same issue
@@PankajMahli I believe that my plumber set it between 70-80 psi.
This worked for me all I did was turn the spigot down to about half way and every since it come's on like it should. THANKS
@@garywheeler1733 question my water pressure is 55 psi will this work for me.
I disbelieve when this unit takes only 2 x AA batteries to open/close the valve in each outlet!! I thought it was using 12v input!! Awesome video!
Thanks!! It’s a pretty awesome tool! 🤙🏼
I’ve been debating about getting one of these! Let me know how you enjoy it! Thanks for the video!
Been using it for almost 2 weeks now! It’s pretty great!

😂 that’s pretty crazy.... But I’ve done it too... lol
Nice video my guy 🤘🏽 lol probably going to look into getting one of those WiFi ones myself.
The B-Hyve and Rachio are pretty popular! Thanks for watching!!
Hello Don, can turn on any zone manually, without additional adapters?
👍🏼
Yes, you sure can! Thanks for watching!
Question
What is your water pressure and is it true if you connect this to a 3 way or 4 way spigot it will reduce water pressure.

are you having issues with water leaking from the top of the plastic? Mine was fine last year but this year its leaking.
Actually yes! I left it outside and I think the freeze messed it up...
How long does the battery last
Lasted a season or so, I think the freeze ruined it. I didn’t bring it inside. 🙄 oops!
Does the sudden opening of the valve cause "water hammering" in your supply line in the house? I've seen some people install an anti-hammering device.
It hasn’t caused any hammering at my house!
Tuned in man 😎🙌👍
Many thanks!! 🙏🏼

I don’t think you have to program every outlet, but a splitter is an easy solution also.
How did it hold up over time?
Lasted over a year until a hard freeze broke it! I know, I should’ve brought it inside.. 😅
Some of the my zones doesn’t work ... timer says it is on ( shows watering) but there is no water from the outlet. Not sure what’s the issue.
That’s odd! I’d consider returning it or contacting melnor! They may refund you.
Does anybody know if it's water prof? I saw he left it outside, it doesn't brak with the rain?
It is weatherproof. I probably wouldn’t submerge it in water though! Thanks for watching!
@@donslawns1 thank you for the information and the video, really usefull.

How about a DIY irrigation system that'll be really interesting. 🤞🏻 just a thought.

What size is the outlets?
They are standard hose end connections.
Sorry I don't read lips.
Well that’s unfortunate!
