My lawn was dead bald and ugly when i bought my house. I subscribed to your channel 2 years ago. Followed your suggestions step by step. You should see my lawn now. I have the most beautiful lawn in my subdevision. Thanks you so much!
This is my story too! We bought our house last yr and yard is a mess. Dead and bald spots! We hired landscaping contractors to fix the ground because we had more than a dozen tree stumps removed cause it was getting too close to our house's foundation. Anyway, you inspire me that we can have a lawn like this one!
I'm from the other side of the atlantic, but i subscribe almost immediately when i see a normal guy like me, repairing his own lawn with normal means and not sponsored ones. If you travel other side, be welcome !
Like you mentioned, " Don't add too much seed". Using too much seed is easy to do because you want to make the grass grow back thick. In reality, too many sprouts pop-up bunched together and end up small and unhealthy and all die ending in a waste of effort and resources.
I'm a new home owner and this helped me so much. Fixed 5 medium to large spots on my lawn with this exact method. My neighbour even asked to borrow my garden weasel when he saw how good it worked 👍 cheers from NB Canada 🍻
I gotta tell you something. That step where you pat the seed down with your foot might be the most important part, and people often forget it. I’ve always heard how seed to soil contact is important. But a few years ago I replaced the cover over my sprinkler valves, and when I was packing the dirt in around it, the parts where I packed it good with seed popped SP much faster than the parts where I didn’t. And it was kinda junky sandy soil too! Definitely important. Beg/borrow/steal a roller if you’re doing a large area!! I also like peat moss! Had good luck with just sprinkling some soil on top too if that’s all you have handy.
The garden weisel works great if the ground is soft. If its hard and dried out, i will usually water it for a while to soften it up. Also, if the ground is basically mud, it will straight up rip out adult grass instantly and the roots. So you gotta pay attention to the status of the soil. Good video.
I was actually pricing similar “Rotary Tools” on Amazon this past weekend. Definitely pushing closer to $40 for anything name brand. Should be around $80 in 2028 should Uncle Joe sniffy get re-elected. So don’t complain about it in 2028 if you vote that way, just saying….Facts matter.
You addressed my number one concern with birds getting a hold of the seed and that peat moss I never thought about before and I appreciate so much and now I'm definitely going to be adding that right after I put down the seed. Absolutely great video. Thank you very much.😇💧
From Illinois! Awesome info from this video! This will definitely help me fine tune reseeding my front lawn. I left out a few steps shown in the video, which will no doubt bring quicker seed germination! 🎉
This is exactly what I’m trying to do and have been looking for the best way to do it and then I found this video. Thank you!! You answered my questions and I’m going to get a garden weasel as soon as I get off work
I’ve had my garden weasel for at least a couple decades probably over 3 but I usually take the middle one off and use it as a hand tool in the garden EXCELLENT TOOL
When I hear suggestions to get kids involved I subscribe right away! grass looks good. Just found your channel I will be definitely following your journey. Keep up the good work 👊🏾✊🏾

Awesome Video!! Like many have already said, I have this tool and have never thought to use it in this application. I’m doing yard maintenance tomorrow and this is going to help so much. Adds air and loosens soil. Pete moss is my go to. Have a great season
Thank you for this video. I did use my garden weasel when I seeded a large area and needed to remove tons of weeds. Now I know I can use it to do overseeding.
Nice video, And I have a very old version of the garden weasel that I got from my father-in-law. And they are very handy in the lawn, flower beds, and garden.
Was at Home Depot a few days ago and saw the Lawn Weasel, wondered how effective it was but the way you explained it plus folks in the comments make me want to buy one. Thank You for the information.
Hey buddy, new to your channel. What a great tool that garden weasel is !!! That tool saved me a hell of a lot of time. Seeded two weeks ago and got some good growth already. Thanks for the help and I'll be watching your new vids as they come out and also, 👍. Good luck, stay safe and may God always be by your side.
We bought a garden weasel 25 years ago to use in the garden to control weeds. It didn't work to well for that so I stuck it away and haven't used it till 2 years ago I needed to patch up some spots and I saw that thing and thought I'd give it a shot. It works great for this exact thing. I also use the peat moss.
I've had issues with my lawn for 2 years. My wife bought a garden weasel for weeds and we never thought to use it to plant grass but we did a couple of months ago, threw down some manure and then top soil over that and bam! Grass!. Will try peat moss in another spot as we've been experimenting with different things. Great video.
Yup that garden weasel is great. Just used it to reseed some bare part of the grass. Coming along well. Some birds did eat some seeds. Its like they can hear me throw them into to soil😂. Thanks for sharing.🎉
Learned something yesterday. Went to Lowes today and bought their version of the Weasel. It was $35, and it was worth it. Did one large spot in the back yard that has been troublesome for a while. Rolled it, seeded it, rolled it lightly again then dropped some Milorganite and watered. Took care of the side of the house where it was dug up to replace a water line. They did a lousy job filling and leveling the dirt and then seeding. I fixed it once and got some growth. Took the tine tool to it today as well with the same process. Got some rain coming this week. Hoping to see some good results within a week or two. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
great video, this was entertaining and I learned something, and I'm actually going to be doing turf repair this afternoon and I'm going to use this method
Hey man, great video. I liked and subscribed. Definitely going to try this in my yard and teach my kids, and looking forward to more videos man. Thanks.
Totally agree- I have been using them as well- year after year. I have found that with one roller only it is more effective and easier to break up the soil.
I soak grass seed for about 4 or 5 days then mix seed with some peat and Composted Cow Manure then apply over prepared ground. Keep damp until first mowing. Works great
Ive had one of those hand cultivators for many years and I do the same and when the fall comes I take all the plants and hanging baskets and i add seed and cultivate it into my yards low areas and thin spots, and I recycle any plastic pots… good day …👍
Thank you for the video. I have been looking for a garden weasel for a while and I just ordered one from W+ for $28. Thanks for the tip about the peat moss to keep the birds from eating.
Well done Video. All I need is to get back my truck from the Shop. Go to HD & get this Wissel stick.. U saw it so many times.....never thought it was a great tool to add in my Shed. Thnk U...!!
@geniepreece2216 I've done it for 24 to 48 hours, changing the water (very important) out every 12 hours. Keep it in a warm area like your garage or shed. You will know it's ready to put down when you start to see roots. I mix it with fertilizer so I can use a spreader. All good stuff. I would've gone ahead a put down some starter fertilizer and definitely watered the area daily for maximum results. I've also seen some ppl use regular pottery mix instead of the peat moss. Both work fine in this scenario.
Thanks for the garden weasel tip, makes perfect sense. I’m going to pick one up tomorrow along with some peat moss. I have already applied some spring fertilizer with moss control. I’m thinking should probably wait a few weeks to let that settle in before seeding? Any advice on the timing and temperature?

You're definitely correct
They make something called a seed roller for larger areas that is made just for this
@@PuBearsticks yeah I’d definitely look into renting something if that were the case.

Average price of a garden weasel is $34.99. 04.01.24
That's interesting because I found it for $20
Yeah, inflation has me doing a double take at prices almost weekly.
