This is the most informative, no nonsense, and least irritating review I've seen on youtube. So many just either don't say anything useful or go into the freaking scientific research that nobody is asking for. Thanks and thumbs up. I did wonder about the UHD setting though. It sounded like you switch that option on and off? From what I understand, it upscales normal HD, as well as displaying the 4K in a downgraded resolution, so why would you ever switch that UHD option off?
The UHD comes at a cost of downscaling the max refresh rate to 120Hz. I've yet to switch it off because it looks awesome and is effectively displaying 3840 X 2160. In my opinion, since there is very little noticeable difference from 240Hz to 120Hz I just leave it on. I really appreciate your comment Boysangur people like you are the motivation of why I make videos. I hope to bring y'all more improved videos as I learn more and more. Thank you!
Tomas Villegas Makes sense. Thanks for the reply. From what I'm hearing, 120hz is plenty (and it's what most TV's have anyway) so I'd probably leave it on too. I noticed that it's mostly the 3D TV's that have the higher rates, so I suspect that 3D is basically the real use for it. Anyway, I'm getting this TV on Monday and your review was the final push. Definitely will keep an eye on what your videos in the future.
Boysangur Got the TV finally and have been playing around with settings for hours. Sorry to keep nagging you but how do you enable the UHD? I don't see the option anywhere. Is it automatically enabled in some modes or something (like the dynamic fixed mode)? Overall, I can't tell yet whether I love it. Dynamic (fixed) seems to be the way to go but there is just a tiny bit of that soap opera effect with it. Other modes are either too dark or too washed out (almost like a projector tv image).
It's under picture settings > advanced > resolution enhanced. You'll need to be set in the user preset before you can make changes to the resolution enhanced options. From there you have Mode 1 and Mode 2 to select from. Pretty self explanatory when you get to this point. Remember you loose the 240Hz option when you enable enhanced resolution. Hope this helps.
Tomas Villegas Thanks again. Some games and movies look absolutely incredible in Dynamic Fixed (trying out the new Tomb Raider now), though I do notice some significant lag when compared to the much less pretty Game mode. Why can't I have it all?
I just bought this tv at fry's electronics .the best tv by far i looked at alot of tvs and this one has more bang for the buck.the picture is so amazing everything on this tv is amazing.
Great review on the TV…I love that it has so many available options. I saw what you meant with the lag but an apple/fire tv or gaming device does fix that. Thanks for sharing!
Cool video. I am also looking at buying this TV because it offers the best bang for the buck. I can move into the true 4k resolution/color regime when that technology has come down in price. There have been some complaints out there that these Sharp TV's start to break down early after a few months of use. Given that you published this review in June of last year I was wondering if you could give us an update on the reliability of the unit. Has it given you any problems since you purchased it? Thanks, JC
I have the LC-60TQ15U with ps4 pro. it says it supports hdcp 2.2 but after connecting ps4 pro it says it does not support 2.2. how are u getting such high resolution
God it was so hard to find an onhand review. This definitely helped me make my decision. Thanks a lot for your review on this, I will be buying this week :). By any chance have you tried the 3D on it?
Im not sure how old this video is..Im looking at the LC-60TQ15U The T is different than the S in your video..My major concern is the lack of great streaming..Im cutting the cord..losing Directv at $250 a month have Roku's and channel master DVR which does NOT connect through my AVR (big bummer) So streaming wont be a huge issue but audio outputs dont get much attention..I see there is RCA jacks and my AVR has RCA inputs but Im not sure of the quality of audio through RCA compared to HDMI..or whether my AVR will distiguish as it does now between Dolby and other signals...But good video...my son has a cheaper model 60" aquos and the pic is stellar...soundbar makes it fine for his house.
Excellent review - thanks! - I am expecting delivery of the 70" version and I am wondering if you have had a chance to try out the 3D capability yet? I know you have to buy the 3D glasses ($34 @ Amazon) so if it isn't important to you, I understand.
Tomas Villegas I saw the 70" today at BB and was blown away by the color and brightness. 4K prices keep plummeting, so the question is whether this "stopgap" is worth it. The 70" Q+ is $2,999 while the Sony 65" 4K is $3,300.
That's all dependent on your needs. I'm happy with this TV and don't regret purchasing it. The picture quality is outstanding and lack of true 4K content wasn't worth the premium in my case. At those prices you may want to just make the leap to true 4K.
I'm going to bring my Galaxy S5 with 4K samples to try on both sets. I will be hanging my panel pretty high, so I don't think you can be able to tell the difference between 4K and the Q+ from that distance. I read that the Sharp has a feature where it acts like a digital photo frame when the set is off. How is that?
I have this TV and a Samsung UBD-K8500 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. When I try to watch a 4K Blu Ray, I get a weird red, pixilated image. The sales rep told me this television would play 4K content. So, what's the disconnect? I have the 4K HDMI cord as well. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Might have to switch it over to the higher rez in the menu? Make sure the picture setting are the same on the bluray as well. Also u could check to see if u need a update.
Great review on the tv! I recently purchased the tv and I am impressed but with all the picture options I'm not sure what the best picture settings are. Do you have any recommendations? You mention when using the UHD feature that the tv no longer operates at 240 hz. When would you want to use this feature. Any input on picture settings would be greatly appreciated.
I run the TV in the Dynamic (Fixed) preset 99% of the time. That way I don't have to mess with to many settings manually. I like running it that way because it brightens up the picture and runs at 120Hz, which is good enough for me. Thanks for taking the time to comment, I'm glad others out there feel the same way I do about this TV.
Thanks for the review. Your review has made my decision to purchase this device. My parents have a Sharp Aquos 60", but it's about two years old and it still offers a great pic. Only thing I'm bummed out about is the sound. Looks like I'm gonna have to buy a sound system. Um babe....
Jason Hinojosa The sound isn't terrible, they perform rather well, but I'd recommend you get a set of surround sound to enjoy the experiment. Thanks for the comment.
Hey Tomas how are you my friend? i am right now in a big dilemma i am about to make the final decision on my new TV set, and i am between, Sony KDL70W850B 70-Inch 1080p 120Hz 3D Smart LED TV vs Sharp LC-70SQ15U 70-inch Aquos Q+ 1080p 240Hz 3D Smart LED TV and i compare side by side at best buy website but i was not able to decide because the lack of info on sony tv so if you can give me your opinion i will be glad to hear it, huge fun of call of duty player since 2004 love it, take care!
I can't really speak to the Sony TV, but I can tell you I absolutely have no regrets in purchasing the Sharp. Sony makes good TVs, but I wouldn't trade this TV for anything but an actual 4K TV. The emulation of 4K on this panel is fantastic. Anyways you won't be disappointed in the Sharp if you decide to go with it - it's a solid piece of gear.
Cool Thomas thanks for your time brother i think it over and after a long analyse i decide for LC-70UQ17U amazing tv just have to save few more Benjamins it is like 400 bucks extra but i think it will worth the money on the long run have a good one and good gaming.
I HAVE THE 65 INCH SHARP 960X PRO TV WHICH I THINK IS SAME TV ? BUT I WISH SHARP WOULD NOT HAVE SUCH A CONFUSING RANGE OF TVS THE TV IS INCREDABLE COLOUR IS FAR BETTER THAN 55 INCH SAMSUNG I HAD BEFORE AND ALL ROUND MUCH BETTER EXCELLENT PRODUCT BOUGHT IN THAILAND,.PROBLEM WITH SHARP IS THEIR LACK OF ADVERTIZING THEIR PRODUCTS UNLIKE SAMSUNG I THINK IF DID SAME AS SAMSUNG WOULD BE WORLD BEATER !
+david orme in addition to above if anyone from sharp is reading this could you make this same tv with full array led backlight as think a tv of this caliber deserves it ? this would get rid of flashlighting of edge lit tvs which they all suffer from ?
You got that dialogue down to science. Voice overs for weeks. I had to do mine several times. Good job Tomas.
Unexpected completion of my new content. Feedback always welcomed, feel free to share as well! #Sharp #AQUOS
That's a sweet TV man one of my friends has it and it look beautiful. A good review on it as well Tomas.
I really like it. Thanks for the feedback bro!

As always Ben, thanks for taking time out of your day to check out my work!
Enjoy seeing the videos hit the sub box…keep them coming!
I have the LC60TQ15U. Not sure if that makes a difference but I was wondering what your calibration setting were.

I just got the tv with a sony 4k upscale player it actually works im getting a 2160p signal blurays look awesome.
I can't sync the True Depth 3D glasses to it! :(
Tomas, can I download the amazon prime app on it?
What about the video codec? Can it take a 4K stream from Netflix? Have you tried 4K samples from YT?
Handles YT nicely. Don't know about Netflix as I don't have access to it.

It's a "wallpaper" feature. It also has some clock faces that run for a user determined amount of time before full power-down.
does it upconvert regular 1080p to 4k?
TV shuts down for inactivity so often I can't record a program. Anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks
I have the same tv. What settings do you have it in when playing games? I have a ps4 and want to know what setting I should use.
I use the Dynamic (Fixed) preset for gaming.

Try the factory hdmi cord first just to make sure its not the cord. I was a tech for a sat company for awhile lmk anymore questions
Is this a 3D TV? You didn't talk about it. Thanks
