    Bail is important for people to get their defense ready for their court date. Amount for the bail should be based on the person in question’s income. Really informative video!

    Only bail out if you facing serious time
    Then flee the country 😂

    Oh so a bail agent is basically like a loan for bailing one outer jail?

      Actually it seems more like a pawn shop bailing. Using a wedding ring as collateral if you fail to repay. It seems you have to pay bail if you dont show up to court date.

    I always wondered how bail system works. Now I know.

  • @ValCronin

    I don't understand the part about if you don't show up to court, the bondsman will be required to pay the entire bail amount all at once ($5000 in the example). My question: If you DO show up, do they not have to pay? That doesn't make any sense. The bail is 5000, so they have to pay 5000 no matter what, right?

    • @Amar7605
      @Amar7605 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what it sounds like. As long as the defendant shows up in court, the bondsman doesn't have to pay the court the $5000.

    • @pipo8561
      @pipo8561 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Amar7605 ish... bonds are like this. The jailed is in jail until their court date. BUT, if the jailed person somehow comes up with (in this case, $5000) and promises to come back to court, the judicial system will let the jailed person return to society until the said trial. As an added incentive (and possibly to sidestep any unforeseen laws or names that would be attached to this bond), the money given to the judicial system will be held until that return date. On that day, if the jailed person comes to court, the money is given back.
      So for the bail bondsman, he sees this as a short loan. He will pay the bail under a couple conditions. A 10-15% fee for his service, some collateral in case the jailed person decides to skip court and he loses his money, and also any other stipulations he places to make sure that the jailed person goes to court (like setting a warrant for arrest, charging a fee for skipping court, etc.)

    Here’s what I’d like to know. How can a person bail themselves out while in jail? I know some have a phone with limited minutes within a cell & also a poster of bail numbers to call, but it’s not like they have their debit or credit card on them to complete the transaction. So how do they go about this?

    I've been told that people who couldn't afford to post bail (or knew anyone who could for them), would use their one phone call to ask a random person for the money.

    why are defendants only required to put up 10% of the bail? Who puts up the other 90%

    • @tuckerrush3756
      @tuckerrush3756 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In most cases it is not the defendant that puts up the premium(10) %
      it is usually a friend or family member.
      The collateral is usually not surrendered just placed into escrow to insure that the defendant will show up and complete the adjudication process.
      If this happens then the collateral is not touched.

    • @drowziness
      @drowziness 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Indemnitors usually can't or don't want to pay the whole bail amount directly to the jail, so they pay a Bail Bonds Agency a non-refundable 8% or 10% (in California) to pay the whole bail in a form of a bond directly to the jail.

      I think he is asking why a bail bonds man would take 750 bucks and then post a 5000 dollar bail.

    • @tobyo105
      @tobyo105 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@illbeburningstar1 because the bail bond man gets the $5000 back when the defendant shows up to trial, so he has profited $750 overall. If the defendant does not show up, then the bail bond man will lose the $5000, but will be able to claim it back through the collateral, eg: the defendant's house or car etc.

    Pay the 10 percent of your bail to the court if you show up to your court days court gives you your money back if not the government keeps your money..its a simple solution where both sides win ..Bail companies promise you'll get your 10 percent back which is a lie you will not get the money back..Bail companies are a scam
