monica jones No. If you can afford to pay the full bail amount, pay it. When the offender satisfies the court obligations and appearances you will actually get that bail amount back. Bond, you usually lose that percentage of the bail as a service fee even if you comply. So its much better financially if you can afford the full bail amount, bypassing the need to go through a bonding agency. Also, if you can afford the cost of the bond (ex: the 10-12% of full bail amount being set) the bonding agency still has the discretion whether to offer or deny the bonding service or even place additional conditions of release with its offer. They are an insurance agency. Just like auto and home except more personable and case by case oriented.
