- Asian Influencers and Western Influencers make money in a totally different way. Whichever way it is, they are both effective. It all depends on your target audience.

I really enjoy researching the different ways of making money as an Influencer. I hope you learn something too!
This is a unique video, I have never seen an approach / comparison like this. I really enjoyed it!
thank you
I really enjoy kind of this video, keep moving, Kevin!
thanks man
Holy cow! Showing the product for three seconds and she makes how much?? That's insane! I think you should do your next channel reviews the same way!! 😜
Oh, that's a bloody good idea. I'll review each channel in 3 seconds!
@@KevinChee 🤣🤣🤣
I think this situation is specific to China. I live in China, and yes, many people here get rich through sales via livestreaming. The case of the girl showing a product for 3 seconds is not representative, but the format is. They show a product, talk about it, and make sales. In most cases, they spend more time on each product, not just 3 seconds. Maybe that girl has a huge following, and it's her style. She has built her brand, just like how Elon Musk only needs to mention a product, and it sells out.
reminder that cultures differ. that's ok and should be expected. great video
Exactly!
Very interesting video! I learned a lot about the different ways Asian and Western influencers make money. The way cultural differences influence their strategies really opened my eyes. Looking forward to more content like this from you! 👍
Thank you
Brilliant analysis, bro. 👏 the difference is clear and relatable 👌 the choice is yours. Do what you want that works for you. Facts 📌 💯
Exactly!
Hey Kevin, this is a good comparison video on business model. I like that you kept the focus solely on the content creation side as it can get messy if you take into account the whole business.
P.S: I finally knew why that accent is so familiar!
Haha yeah. I'm sure some would say I did not cover this or that hence I specifically mention only content creation. My Msia accent is still there, born and breed there. My wife is Msian as well so we speak with 'la' and 'ah' naturally. Or as Msians like to call it... jinjang or rojak speaking
Who is buying something, with seeing it for only 3 seconds? (talking not about ice cream)
I don't but there's a huge amount of audience who does (mainly in Asia). I don't understand the logic behind this but there are companies in Asia who hire and teaches influencers to sell this way
To me, I want my products to be beneficial to my target audiences. I don't like being "hard sell" or getting audience to have "impulse purchase". What I am reminded is that I need to educate my children to be wise with their finance and think twice before buying things. A question I always ask myself before buying something: "Do I REALLY Need it?"
Thanks for sharing this interesting topic with us. Much appreciated as always.
I think you're the minority in this case. The majority of the people I see and know has impulse purchase, doesn't matter the culture. The sales person who understands this game tends to target those with impulse purchase as they represent the majority so the minorities like you and I, we aren't their target.
Having said that, if I am running a business though, there is a thing or 2 to learn from this. I don't like hard selling either but throughout my experience, hard selling tends to work better for business.
I still struggle to find that fine line between hard sell and selling true value, as you can see, I am providing value in my channel but failing in making money as a businessman 😅
Super interesting and unique video! Really enjoyed this 😁
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow you live in Australia, my brother moved there roughly 2 months ago, lives in Brisbane (he is becoming a police officer there). He bought a ticket to watch the Australia vs South Africa rugby game that happens this weekend.
that is so awesome. I'm not in Brisbane though lol
@@KevinChee cool cool :)
Now there are dramas about Mr.Beast that he pick give away winner before the giveaway even begins his ex employee exposed him 😂
there will always be some politics and controversy behind everything
Interesting insights🎉❤ Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed!
That was interesting, good info man. Thanks Kevin.
Cheers
Btw your voice and accent are amazing and soothing
not as soothing as Morgan Freeman!
Asians particularly china sells things way cheaper. Because of their cheap products, they have a huge number of people who are willing to buy/import.
I went to Alibaba one time I saw something the price was $6 but someone who sells it here at my country sound it for me for $20.
When I bought it for $20 I thought I bought it cheap until I saw the actual price on Alibaba. But the thing there is that it is sold in wholesale not retails.
Because of this high profit margin, people would love to patronize Asian products.
It's going to be cheaper if it is direct from manufacturer. Even at $20, that's not much profit as there are other cost to consider such as delivery, transport, storage, bills and many other stuff. I think its fair, businesses need to go through the hoops to source the product too and they need to run a business.
@@KevinChee 💯💯
that is an interesting observation!
subbed!
oh, thank you very much
Really informative video, I wasn't aware of this culture difference on making money on TH-cam but it does make sense of different approach, just never thought about it. I thought western approach is kinda what all content creators are striving for but that was very ignorant of me. I am glad people found different ways for themselves to generate income.
I don't understand the whole livestreaming + sales thing but many Asia countries do that. They are less on creating content but more on using platforms to sell. I'm not surprise if they do both TikTok and IG livestreams at the same time
So amazing how content is so different from culture to culture ✌️
It is. I'm constantly expose to both and they never fail to surprise me
@@KevinChee i know exactly what you mean, because I am also constantly exposed to both Hungarian and Romanian cultures ✌️
You said you were 18 when you moved to Australia. How old are you now? I'm impressed by your English. How long did it take you to learn it to such a high level?
sorry, I refuse to reveal my age. That is the biggest mystery on my channel! I've been taught English since young. I speak English when I attended school in Malaysia. Malaysians don't speak the best English, our sentence structure is broken, pronunciation is all over the place and we mix different languages together, but we understand each other really well and can speak properly if need to. We call it 'broken English'
Interesting video! 👍
Glad you think so!
Usually a fan of your take even if I don’t fully agree. This one is off base. I think at least in Mr. B case there is so much more to his success that us average TH-cam viewer will never fully understand. I suspect there is a lot more manufactured numbers driving the synthetic revenue streams. I think we see things at face value when in reality it’s a bit more complicated and even probably sinister reasons for a few of these Mr. B manufactured success.
I'm sure there are
It's sad the global economy relies on mining, consuming, and dumping the waste on a continuous basis. Invest in learning how to grow your own food and utilize solar. Both are easier than you think guys. Also, don't buy into the credit scam. If you need to borrow money to start a business it's not a viable business.
huh?
This is a brilliant niche video. I really think you are onto something. I'm a westerner that has lived in Asia for a decade, mostly in Mainland China. I know that influencer from weixin. Kevin stop doing the negative videos. You have a lovely personality and somehow I'm drawn to you. Be true to yourself. Also I was fascinated when you mentioned your personal life. I think you will find your niche. Grow slowly with a die hard fan base I think is the best way on TH-cam.
I've stopped negative videos for a while now, but still use it in titles to get clicks 😅
Great video.
Thanks!
Your accent isn't "funny" sounding in the USA, it's normal (especially for someone with an Asian background--it's easy to understand you). Otherwise, this video is very useful. Your experience in both East and West cultures allows a perspective that few people can give. My channel had 20% USA, 15% Indian, and the other English speaking countries each had 1% or lower. For this reason, I focused videos toward non-English speaking audiences at first (mostly by having no narration but with video descriptions in text with 100 languages). About 20% of my viewers would read the descriptions. Although my English speakers wanted me to narrated in English, my 80% non-English speakers did not want me to narrate in English (so at first they "won"). I have a girlfriend in Vietnam (I have visited Vietnam and Korea), and know a lot of friends with foreign backgrounds. So I have a little knowledge of other cultures, but obviously not enough. Anyway. Thank you for your insights and commentary in this video. It is very instructive and makes sense for what I have seen online. I'd be interested in your comments about VPN use by foreigners online (used to bypass governmental Internet access). About 40% of my viewers can't be tracked by YT, probably b/c they use VPN to bypass the Great Digital Walls of China, Indonesia, and other countries. Frankly, most Western YT advice sites (USA, England, Australia) are fairly clueless regarding ''foreign" YT culture.
I find TH-cam isn't as powerful in Asian countries due to many restrictions. If my target audience are from Asia, I would research what platform is most widely used, learn their video style and go from there. My target has always been English speaking audience. Having multiple language videos may give more visibility but the amount of effort required outweighs the result produce from it. That's my take.
@@KevinChee thx much!
Does Kevin not know about the Mr Beast allegations, tired of seeing him being used as an example of what a creator is.😊
nop, I don't follow his news nor allegations. I just look at his business model. As I said in this video, I'm comparing top influencers from both cultures, which happens to be MrBeast
Amazing video 👏 your content is really impressive 👍 it's clear you put lot of effort to make videos. However , i noticed that your videos thumbnail need some improvement
I'm a professional thumbnail designer, currently working with established TH-camrs like Dr. Tanvi Mayur Patel (361k subs), Dr. Sahaj Joshi (215k subs), and Healthy Forever (77k subs). I believe with the right thumbnails, your content could reach even more viewers. I'd love to help you level up your channel’s visual appeal. Looking for your response ☺️
Thanks. Not at this stage.
Great video
Cheers!
