    Good video, I just installed the Wolfbox G840S (?) into my Cadillac SUV. I completely removed factory rear view mirror because all I could see were the people in the back seat, lol. I purchased the hardwire kit and the mirror bracket (well worth the money-I would have paid a $100 dollars for the bracket as it comes with everything) I use it as a full time rear view camera and a security cam while it's parked, it stays on but the screen turns off to save the battery. Plus if my battery drops below 11.8 volts the mirror camera will turn off also to save the battery where I won't be stuck somewhere.
    The resolution is impressive.
    I don't believe there is a better product out there for the money, it's worth 2 to 3 times the price.

      @howwevan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree - it’s a fantastic product and makes driving our rig so much easier. Don’t have the same visibility issues with an SUV but I can still totally see why I’d want to install the mirror in one if I had one. Glad you like it, and thanks for watching!

    It seems like the camera mounted there would be a problem with the door opening and closing. Do you think mounted above or below the brake light would give enough of an angle?

    Hi I'm trying to install wolfbox dash cam unfortunately I have trouble to find reverse wire back of my sprinter van. Do you know which wire I can wiring the reverse parking wire?

    • @howwevan
      @howwevan  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t install the reverse wires so not sure I can help too much but I believe the reverse wire goes to one of the backup lights so that it gets electrical current when the van is shifted into reverse. If you mounted your backup camera near one of the backup lights (white, not red) then I think it should be pretty easy to connect the wire to that light bulb. Otherwise you’ll need to find a way to route the wire to one of the backup lights. Like I said - I chose not to install the backup wire and the mirror still works great. You don’t get the guidelines in reverse but I’m not sure that they are helpful anyways. You can always contact Wolfbox for support, too. Wish I could be more help, but good luck with the project - I think you’ll love the mirror.

      It does seem like the dash cam won’t be perfect but I’m going to try to adjust it further left and make it work. Will be happy to let you know what I think of it after I’ve had a chance to use it for a while - but at this point, I’m very optimistic!

      Ok great thanks. Have been thinking about one of those for a while for our Strada. I think id try to mount rear camera inside somehow. No easy solution.

    • @howwevan
      @howwevan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Installing outside wasn’t as hard as I’d anticipated once I found the hole beneath the passenger seat. But the unit comes with instructions and hardware to mount inside the rear window glass if you’d rather go that route. I’ve also heard there are good wireless camera options but I’m not 100% sure how you get power to the camera (but if you’re concerned about running a cable the length of the van, it might be worth considering, too).

    Thanks for sharing! Considering this for my van. Question for you: Any issue seeing the image with sunglasses on (specifically polarized sunglasses that sometimes make it impossible to see some of the more traditional backup cameras)? Thanks!

    • @howwevan
      @howwevan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not at all - I wear polarized sunglasses 100% of the time and find the mirror super bright and easy to see. Only issue I have with the mirror is the weight and it sometimes tilts down because it’s not balanced on the MB mirror so I have to adjust it up periodically. Not a huge deal but aside from that, works perfectly.

    Can you easily turn on and off the digital rear view mirror so that you can toggle between digital and regular?

    • @howwevan
      @howwevan  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can easily turn off the mirror with a button and then you could maybe use it as a regular mirror but it’s not as good at that point as the original mirror. So we’ve moved the mirror location to the dashboard area so that we can alway have access to the original mirror - heres a link to the mounting kit to install it just above the Mercedes 10-inch screen: howwevan.com/item?id=226&a=Wolfbox+Mirror+Center+Console+Mount and we’ve found this works very well. Hope that is helpful!

    Is ok to use the smaller fuses in the larger fuse slots?

    • @howwevan
      @howwevan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t have a lot of experience with auto fuses but I would expect using a smaller fuse in a larger fuse slot might be ok, although it seems it might blow the fuse more often than if you used the right sized fuse. But like I said, there are many better people to ask then me. Sorry!

    Anybody have an idea on how to mount the mirror camera so that the OEM plastic "box" on the windshield does not obstruct the camera's view?

    • @howwevan
      @howwevan  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We actually moved the mount to the dashboard with this base:
      amzn.to/3ZiMU4k
      We had an issue with the digital rear view mirror being too heavy for the actual mirror to support in a good position. And it allows us to use the real mirror in addition to the digital rear view mirror. The forward facing camera has a better view as well, but I don’t use it that often. Hope that is helpful!

    There are some software mods that can keep the existing rear view camera on all the time while driving even at higher speed. Check it out at owl van for that mod.

    • @howwevan
      @howwevan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - I actually have that mod and enjoy being able to view the built in MB cameras anytime (driving or parked) but the view from the digital rear view mirror is much superior for viewing traffic behind you while driving. The MB rear camera is more focused immediately behind the van and does not work great as a rear view mirror substitute. But it’s still great to be able to view those cameras while driving! Thanks for the comment.

      @@howwevan Thanks for sharing reasons. Was the big box behind the rear primary reason for the view getting blocked ? I am just wondering if this would be case for everyone or just in your case.

    • @howwevan
      @howwevan  ปีที่แล้ว

      No it wasn’t the box but the downward angle of the MB rear view camera. It doesn’t allow to see more than a single car behind you (while a regular rear view mirror as well as the digital rear view mirror show a complete rear view and all the vehicles behind you).

      We moved the digital mirror recently to the dashboard. We like it better there. We did try to replace the rear view mirror but cracked the windshield so won’t try that again. You can see the mount we used to put it on the dashboard on our website - it’s an easy fix! Thanks for watching.
