  • This video shows more lighting work being done on the 1:1000 Enterprise Refit Model. I installed the rest of the navigation and strobe lighting on the saucer and connect them to the Tenacontrols board which operates the lighting effects.

Great use of the SMD's! Far easier than grinding down a 3mm LED or routing a fiber optic for the same thing. :-) This lighting has come a long way.

I was very interested in seeing this completed? Guess he moved on or got bogged down with other builds?

hey Boyd, for the registry you could try opening up the front bridge window and use a 1.8mm led with the roundtop ground off. basically gives you a small rectangle to stick in there. saw it done with a 2mm lighthouse led in a 350 Refit and it gave a nice effect. might have to angle it downward a tad though. lookin sweet so far! be a nice diorama when finished.

+chuck brooks I played around with getting it lighted but unless I raise the height of the bridge, I couldn't get a light aimed right without getting a shadow where it hit the front of the B/C deck.

TrekWorks i gotcha. only other thing that comes to mind is maybe rounding over the edge of the b/c deck in front of the forward bridge window. i did that slightly on my Refit to make sure the light got down there. just thought i would throw out an idea if it might help.i sent you some pics of my latest car build for the next slideshow also. hope all is well.... my buddy that wants to set me up with that light kit caught some of that flooding in Houston. he has cleaned up and is back at it now though.

Ho forgot to mention I've build a 1:537 scale model of the ENTERPRISE-A with LED lighting & weapons effect I used 2 3mm LED's for the phaser firing effect & 4 more red LED's + a Madman lighting Dual Photon Torpedo effect's circuit for the weapons + a circuit board for the Navigation & strobe lights all & all it turned out good if I ever find out how to post video's on TH-cam you'll see for yourself & happy modeling.

Really wish I had the rest of this series to watch. Planning to build both of these for myself soon and they will be my first ever go at lighting starship model. @trekworks What size drill bit were you using for the lighting and fiber optic pieces?

Whatever happened to Part 3 of the build? Part 4? Did you tape them and the file was corrupted? I noticed a lot of others asking the same question. Thanks.

    Hi Boyd,
I love the detail you go into in your vids and I'm hoping to use your lighting tutorials fitting my Polar Lights Enterprise with LEDs, but please could you give me your opinion and experiences with a potential problem?: As the LED wires are coated with PVC, how long will it be (if ever) before this starts reacting with the styrene material the model is made from? Many thanks,

Have you tried using the bondic system to secured the lights? It uses UV light to harden vice the kicker.

Boyd, do you take commissions or know of any other builders who would be willing to take them? I'd love to have a 1:350 built. Also, watching these videos is almost just as good as owning one already. Almost.
