@@user-rd5bt3bw5o Actually, all three medalists showed a lot of class. My comment was made because it is easier to show that class when you win. It is much harder to show it when and how you lose. Femke didn't disrespect either Sydney or Anna. She also didn't make any excuses as to why she lost. She easily could have used that 400m mixed relay as an excuse but said that wasn't the reason she lost but the strategy of putting the race together.

I know this is such an "off topic" comment, but the guy at the table who is coordinating these press conference is really good at what he is doing. He will ask a question himself, like he did to Femke Bol, 6:30 , when he noticed nobody was asking her anything, and thus got everyone involved. After that, reporters started asking her questions. I noticed he did that to the Brazilian Bronze medalist in the men's 400 hurdles also. I just like when people do things organized, like they got their act together. Kudos......

Femke is such a class act. She seeked no excuses and was so honest about her poor performance. Huge respect for her character.
EDIT: In response to many fair comments: 52.15 was a poor performance *for Bol's standards*. To give some perspective:
It was even slower than her final in 2021 Tokyo Olympics where she ran 52.03. In 2022 she ran a bunch of 52s in the diamond leagues. In 2023 she ran 51.70 in the world champs final and 51.45 in London. One month before Paris Olympics she ran 50.95 in Switzerland and 51.30 in London.
And just to be clear: She would still have not beaten Syd's amazing world record but the silver would have been a walk in the park if she just did a normal run for her standards.

Femke when asked if running previously in the relay tired her and affected the outcome of this race, categorically said No. She may have lost the race but she gained something much more important - total respect! Sydney praised God for giving her such a wonderful gift and when asked where this win and race stood compared to all her other achievements, results and experiences said this one was most important (not refering once to the actual race, result or record) because all her family were there with her, unlike her two previous Olympics, and that when her career in running was over she could look back on it, at photos and recapture the memories of the time. @@dropthumb2 This will take some time to sink in but Femke will be fine....she is a racer and loves to compete and she has a chance to "redeem" herself again today but probably tomorrow. Although as a fan (like her) I am disappointed in her race. Both Lieke and Femke (and several other Dutch athletes) seriously underperformed in their individual event.
They need to evaluate what happened there.....going out "too quick and dying" is a palpable answer but also displays "poor race plan execution".
Bol and Lieke have a habit of being more "giddy" leading up to a race compared to other athletes. It is their way of staying "relaxed". In this case this typical Dutch approach may have backfired as they both never really got into their race.
You can't always run a PR but both being off it by this much at a peak performane moment is a sign that the Dutch need to reevalute their preparation for an event like this!

Sports commentators and TH-camrs began to manufacture this “rivalry” a year ago, and I remember being so confused because it seemed to come out of nowhere. It was so unfounded and undeserved for Bol. She has never beaten Sydney, in fact they have barely raced together. When the comments about a rivalry started, it was also during that period where Sydney wasn’t even racing because of her knee injury. It’s very strange how the media and fans manufacture these kinds of things with no basis. And not only did Bol not come in a close second- she didn’t come in second at all. Awesome for Anna Cockrell to go 51 and fourth fastest all time. Disappointing for Femke after consistently running 51s and her 50.95, but hope they will compete against each other more. Maybe she'll be hungrier for Grand Slam Track or maybe Sydney will run some post-Olympics Diamond League meets

Sydney, what a beast! I have been following her for a few years and what an amazing athlete. Congrats to all three ladies. Incredible feat for sure. A bit of a disappointing race for Femke Bol, but she'll come back. I do love how in 9:03, the interviewer gave her an excuse, which is a legit reason, but she did not bite. She said it was not the reason for her performance. I also loved how both Sydney and Anna nodded their head in agreement, showing their respect to Femke's answer. Great sportsmanship from all three ladies.

Femke was so poised, that interview was probably as hard as the race. And credit due for not taking the easy out and blaming her (epic) relay finish, and just owning that she went out too hard. as a former track runner in HS I have done that myself and paid the price. But if you think about it, she probably knew she had to risk it all to beat Syd, and she learned her limit. Thankfully she managed to finish and get the bronze. There will be other races. we know Femke is a sub 51 runner. All three of them are young and we have many jaw-dropping future moments to watch, now, in what they have made into the most exciting event in track! Congrats to all!

Top 2. McLaughlin is the leader of course, but Femke has 8 of the 20 fastest times of which 5 sub 52 times, and Femke is the only other woman with a sub 51, which is also the nr. 4 fastest. Next best is Dalilah Muhammad has 2 times in the top 20 of which 1 sub 52, and Cockrell now has 1 time in the top 20 which is also a sub 52. So Femke is still a solid nr.2. in the world.

Shout out also to Bobby Kersee, coach of Sydney for cracking the code on how to run this race. A bit surprised that the other athletes are not copying his method after the last Olympic Games. Sydney takes one less stride between most of the hurdles than the rest of the field. And she hits them completely in stride. A bunch of big and small things that become a 50.37
