Last week I was able to land a counter roundhouse kick while sparring, which stopped my sparring partner's momentum and created an opening for a series of punch. Thank you Wonderboy.
that's great man, I'm in that stage where my sidekicks are just effective enough to get distance and confuse opponents while switching stances lol I want to get to the point where I can inflict damage with them

Love it! In Olympic / Kukkiwon TKD we call that style of kicking a Repeating Kick / Geodeup Chagi. This particular version would be Low Turn Kick → Repeating High Side Kick (Arae Dollyeo Chagi → Geodeup Yeop Chagi). Your videos and insights are fantastic!

The idea of using the low kick to chamber the next kick, as opposed to throwing the low kick and then chambering the second, really clicked in my brain. This is how Bruce Lee got his snap when doing the same move from low to high. It’s the secret to the fluidity. Picture the low kick as the start of the chamber and you’ll get a lot more power out of the second kick. Instead of two separate kicks with the first interrupting and slowing the second, the first becomes a wind up and actually increases the power of the second. Never mind the undeniable benefit of having the built in feint. The feint being the most important part of successfully creating an opening for a technique. Still learning at 50.
The stall in the middle hides the fact that the pivot moves your whole body forward which should happen at the end of the kick. You don't want to move yourself closer and then kick after the pivot. The pivot gets you an extra foot of reach and your whole body is adding to the force of the kick.
Valentina comes from a ITF Taekwondo family . It’s nice to see Stephen Wonderboy Valentine etc ..use these Traditional styles that don’t work and are successful with these techniques (wink wink) MMA crowd.

Leg extending out from the but, not from the side so much. Watch the heel of the standing foot. That's. What controls the angle, and what actual kick it is.
I feel those early fights for Wonderboy in the UFC were successful because of the sidekick to the gut . But for some reason he does not use it as much now check out the Hendricks fight for a good example , thanks for the great fights Stephen.

It is not your choice if someone else attacks you. Being in good shape helps with depression and anxiety and confidence so you will end up in fewer conflicts to begin with... Everyone should train self defense and there would be less violence which stems from insecurities and fears.
