I also have some quarters that feel lighter than others. how come? like they feel a little fake lol i forgot which state it was. I think 2000 Massachusetts one.
Great Video Mint Miser! Quick question: What's the difference between the 1776-1976-D WASHINGTON QUARTER DDO FS-101 & FS-102 version? And which grading service on this coin would be more valuable, PCGS or NGC? Thank you!
Hey Denny, 101 is more obvious. Check this out for details doubleddie.com/1829488.html I don't know that one is more valuable over the other. PCGS is more popular than NGC.
Tonight I found a fully filled D. This would be the first error coin I have ever found. Great condition and all the other letters on both sides are very distinct. So it can't be from wear.
I am an amateur collector, and I was sorting and putting my collection (all collected by working in retail and stores for 20 years+) I am pretty certain I have a DDO 1976 in very nice condition. Can you email me regarding this?
Mine has an error on the back & front. I've not found one with the same error anywhere. A friend that collects coins & who has some knowledge on the subject said, that It's definitely not from damage. I guess the next thing to do is have it graded?
Hey Weedsmith93, I just looked at the prices on www.pcgs.com for you. Without any errors, the 1976 S Silver, in Mint State is worth $6 to $15,000 depending on the grade.
I haven't found any DDO or DDR yet, but I have a lot of change saved for a better microscope setup. My laptop won't stay charged and very little time for me to take care of it. Great information for me to play with, thank you!
I found A 1934 Quarter DDO fs-101 Recently. Condition was pretty rough. Maybe would grade up to 20. But still pretty cool. Been debating about selling it for a while.
I’ve found a 1976 D bicentennial quarter DDO FS 101 before! Was about a year ago and still in my collection! I’ve also found a “uncirculated” 40% silver bicentennial quarter before and 2 clad proofs!
Hi Brandon, There are many possibilities. The scale you use should go out to hundreths of a gram. If it doesn't, it will round the number and be less accurate. A clad quarter should be about 5.67 grams, silver 6.25 grams. A coins weight may vary slightly but it shouldn't be too far off. Some coins will weigh a little less due to wear. Sometimes coins are minted on the wrong planchet like a foreign planchet. Our mint does do work for other countrys and territories. There are also experimental planchets and I'm sure I missed other possibilities. There are some forums and groups on FB that you can post pictures to or look for explanations that may fit your coin. I found 2 for you right here - www.cointalk.com/threads/1974-quarter-5-9-grams.338002/ and mikebyers.com/exp25cset.html Let me know what you figure out. Good luck!
IMO - Quarter weight should be 5.67. Allowed tolerance, based on what I just found is .19g. That puts a normal weight up to 5.86g. So your quarter is a little over, but very close to normal weight. It's probably a normal quarter. If it was my quarter, I wouldn't make an extra trip, but next time you drive passed a coin shop, I would take it in and have them check it out. Just for peace of mind. I have a few coins that I have questions about, in a bag, awaiting a trip to a professional. I'm 99% sure they're post mint damage but I just want to be certain.
Ive inherited this coin, I believe its in great shape..Only a couple things are off to me..The first is there's no space between the I and N of IN. The second, the left hand of the drummer looks off, like a claw or something.. Either of those a common error?
I have about 2 rolls on hand. I haven't found anything good in them yet. Doing research for the video rekindled my interest in the silver sets though. I see the three of them in my collection sometime soon.
I have a bunch of these coins....but I have only 1 coin that has an error........and the error is that the drummer's pony tail is missing.......the coin is in good shape but I want to know how much this coin is worth.....
You may want to post a picture in a friendly FB group for error coins and varieties to get some opinions. A grease error probably isn't going to add much value, if any, but they're fun to find and collect.
I have a bicentennial quarter I bought from the mint. Its still in its original package. Who can look at it and give me a value. Im trying to find the receipt of purchase
Ive inherited this coin, I believe its in great shape..Only a couple things are off to me..The first is there's no space between the I and N of IN. Hi Rose, take your coins to a local coin shop to get an idea of the value. If they are valuable, the LCS may be able to help you with selling them or point you in the right direction. Good Luck!

I have a Bi centennial quarter that Has no mint mark will say Philadelphia mint, except it doesn't way any were near the circulation strike copper(5.67 gram ) - clad coin it was slightly above the 40% silver S series coin( 5.75 grams), i have weight 10 coins in a row all bicentennial and get (5.54- 5.68) this one is the exact same size but comes in at 5.8, it would have to contain a heaver base metal. OMG! I would love to show you these quarters. You would not believe your eyes, and what they are looking at! I am so excited!!
