      Hey Barry, I read about it a while ago but it didn't give an explanation. Eventually I found out more information about it. It's part of the coin collecting history, so it's good to know but it's just not practical with all the resources we have available to us nowadays. Thanks for watching and hanging out last night!

    I just got a silver 1945 quarter today. Was getting my change at a fast food joint and when I got my coin change, it sounded so different. Checked the sides and it was all the same, silver. So did a TH-cam search and your video popped up first, thanks for the clarification!! This is my very first silver quarter I found in the wild

    I found a steel penny yesterday! At first, I thought it was a dirty dime til I looked at the edge and didn't see any grooves. Then, I thought it was a silver wheatie til I dropped it onto my kitchen counter and it was dull so I knew it wasn't silver either. Finally, I looked up different types of wheatie pennies and my jaw dropped when I saw FOUR different types! I NEVER KNEW there was this much variety in all coinage! WOW! Mind = blown. Thanks for this video cuz it totally made my heart sink into my stomach knowing I spent MANY of these quarters/half dollars during my lifetime without knowing their value ~ lol. Knowledge IS power!

    He forgot to mention the weight test. A silver quarter will weigh about 6.2 grams. A clad quarter should weigh about 5.6

    I have roughly 1300 bicentennial quarters. I have not really sorted through them that well yet. I was able to pick out the silver pretty easily. The cameo quarters I placed in plastic coin cases.
    I also have presidential dollars in the rolls from the mint. The different colored rolls. All different presidents. I didn’t know if they were worth more in a complete roll or if I would open and sell individually.

    • @MintMiser
      @MintMiser  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry for the delayed response. 1300? Why do you keep so many? Most will be worth .25. MS 63 $4, MS66 $50, MS67 $70, MS68 $3800+ Good luck sorting through them. I hope you have some valuable quarters in there. As far as the Presidential Quarters, it depends if there's a rare coin (error, variety, perfect condition) inside. If there is, it would be worth more to sell individually. If not, coin roll hunters would enjoy paying more for uncirculated rolls to hunt through for valuable coins. You can check sold prices on ebay to get the going rate for the rolls, or if you have access, you can look at the Graysheet. Good luck!

    • @emdm16
      @emdm16 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MintMiser I appreciate the reply. The rolls are Uncirculated presidential Dollars gold kind. (Saqajawea). Some rolls are red white and blue with the mint D or S on them with the presidents name listed and year.

      I still find them at the bank when I'm buying rolls. I've kept all of them except if I need one for my album, then I'll open up a roll. I'll probably sell them one day, or they'll get handed down to my kids. Good luck with them!

    good info!
    Random nerd comment:
    the audio (through my speakers) sounds like its playing inside my head when im in front of the speakers.
    when you stand to the side of the speakers, it sounds normal.
    its a phase issue, the soundwaves are leaving the speakers unevenly between left and right audio (one waveform is doing v^v and the other is doing ^v^) . If you were to take this audio into a DAW, you can take either the left or right (shouldnt matter) and "invert the phase", it should fix that.

    Great day thanks for the info. I have been collecting junk silver for years but doing Corona I got a 2 year education on errors and varieties that made me go back through all of my change and I must say I have found a lot of errors on my old coins and my new ones not sure if I should grade them and sell some or should I just keep them for leverage when I retire. I may have found my next calling if it's really financially sound to sell them versus keep holding and collecting. Question can you really make a decent living selling your coins.

Also in that bag are junk tokens, coinage from England (UK, whatevs), and the pennies we made in the machine that roll them flat while imprinting where you are (ex Hersheypark, NASCAR Cafe Myrtle Beach, The Philadelphia Zoo, etc.) I always looked to see if they were wheaties BEFORE inserting them into the machine to be flattened.

      Mint miser: NEVER go to a pawn shop to sell silver. A lot of them will try to rob you blind on the price

      Thanks Joanthan. I'm still struggling with sound. I got a new mic last week but I don't have it tuned in. I should have it nailed down soon.
