      I wonder if the Indigo ring malfunctions on Joker, distorted by his individual perception of the world, much like how Wonder Woman's lasso of truth doesn't work on him. The lasso of truth only works on beings if they have an understanding of truth and lies, and the Joker is so warped that it doesn't work on him.

    After watching your video and coming away with a much better understanding of what Indigos are, I would have to say the only people who would (should) want to be an Indigo lantern are people who are evil, but want to be good.
    If you aren’t a sociopath seeking to feel emotions, there really isn’t much reason to want to be Indigo.

    I didn't read much comics and from what I heard before, I thought it went both ways. One could become an indigo for having genuine compassion, just like with the other corps, or be one for having none whatsoever. I didn't think of it as forceful enslavement but purification, absolution, healing, tranquility inducement and restoring internal balance.

    • @user-xw5xo3bv1n
      @user-xw5xo3bv1n 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Well, for example during Blackest Night iirc Ray Palmer became Indigo. And he was not enslaved. Genuine compassion, all that. Of course initial purpose of Indigos as designed by Abin Sur was to prepare for Blackest Night, Rise of Third Army and etc. Secret army for dark days. Recruited from people nobody would miss. Like Iroque. Who did start feeling genuine compassion and remorse after some time passed, as shown by even in New 52. So you were right, in a sense.

    19:50 During Blackest Night Ganvet was able to use his Guardian powers on all the rings to make them find temporary members among the survivors. This demonstrates that even though the rings were created through different means and channel separate emotions, they all have a base code of instructions based on the Guardians programming. This is why the ring went looking for a replacement when Black Hand died (again) we've actually seen a similar response from rings when other corp members of different corps die.

    Proselyte certainly keeps within the mysterious aura surrounding the Indigo Tribe in that its origins are something of a mystery. The other entities were transformed from normal beings when they first demonstrated (for the first time in the history of the universe) their corresponding emotion. For example, the first being became the Willpower entity when it first willed itself to move. Greed came from the being who ate something when it wasn't hungry. The Hope and Rage entities were born of the first prayer and murder. Proselyte, however, states that it and Compassion have existed since the very beginning of time.
    "Rage grows from murder. Hope from Prayer. And at last, compassion is offered to us all."

    Me who got Indigo when doing a test on which Lantern Corps I’d be part of: o_o
    Hopefully if I was one I would be able to break away from the tribe and their whole “brainwashing” beliefs and from their practices of forcing others to be compassionate as well. Compassion is about having remorse for other people and caring about them, whether they feel the same way about you or not. Truly compassionate people care for everyone, even their enemies. And obviously this can prompt others to feel compassionate as well. Just like the saying goes *”A true act of random kindness always sparks another.”* But compassion is never FORCED onto someone else, not sure why DC went down that route. Perhaps them using it as an example of “guilt tripping?” Who knows honestly, but I don’t feel like it should be said that anyone who posses the power of compassion in the emotional spectrum is a brainwashed manipulative psychopath. I mean… Atom was an Indigo Lantern once right? He wasn’t brainwashed. And so was John Stewart at one point and he wasn’t brainwashed either. They were both just compassionate people and the emotional spectrum recognized that and they both became lanterns powered by Indigo’s light. Overall, as we’ve seen, all members of every Lantern Corps have manipulated the emotional spectrum for both good and evil deeds. The emotional spectrum definitely isn’t as black and white as you might think, except for the ACTUAL Black and White Lantern Corps lol.

    It looks like when people choose to wear the ring, like John Stewart, Ray Palmer and Kyle Rayner, then they can use it similar to a Green Lantern ring (with some differences) and are still under their own mental control. But if an Indigo ring is forced onto someone, then it forces compassion into them and changes them. I'm sure Abin Sur and Notromo made sure the rings could do both on purpose. They had to test the rings first, right?
    It does make sense for the Indigo Rings to be able to control people. With the corps being all about compassion, it does give them a way to subdue a psychopath without using violence.

      In base larfleeze seems to have the rest by a long shot. Hal Jordan and Sinestro outside of him. Unless you include Kyle as a white lantern and he is just buuuuuusted

    How did Hal free sinestro from their grasp?? Maybe I missed it in the vid but why would Hal want Sinestro to be back to normal? Knowing he's truly an enemy to the Green Lantern Corps and honestly every other lantern corps that's not his own

    • @LumosTheromax
      @LumosTheromax  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because Hal thinks what the indigo tribe is doing is morally questionable and he respects sinestro enough not to strip him of his free WILL
      Something Hal feels strongly about
