The version of Damned playing on the main menu is actually Damned 4 from BO4. It was most likely a place holder until they finished composing and recording the version that’s in the final hame
@@RuziNuk3no it’s very clearly BO4 Damned, you can tell by the difference in the tone and the use of the subtle reverb humming that slowly rises. Play BO4 and listen to the theme of the Zombies menu. It’s worth noting that BOCW was built off of and still using a modified version of the engine BO4 used. Hence why a lot of assets from BO4 are still in the game files currently.
@@C..J maybe they changed the skybox because they didn't want to reflect the beauty of the dark aether, but rather how mysterious and paranormal that place was, especially when you listen to the radios where they make you see that place as hell I don't know my idea
The BO1 sound effects are probably used as a base template since Black Ops engine was built specifically to run zombies. After they made Der Riese they pretty much set a formula and BO1 I guess carries over that formula.
Yeah, I’m certain that none of the BO1 music was ever gonna “make a return.” I’m sure that it’s all being used as placeholder music, just so they can indicate when and where music will be played. Same with the BO4 menus. Fun fact: if you go to a local lobby in BOCW multiplayer, part of the menu is actually from the BO4 menu!
Ok, the Pre-Alpha Dark Aether sky box looks way cooler than the final version. Gives it more of a galaxy/ space vibe. But I understand why they went with the final version, the Dark Aether is supposed to be exactly that…. A dark, corrupted, twisted version of reality.
The Damned theme in the beginning is from BO4, not BO1. They haven’t finished the main theme for BOCWZ yet so they kept in the last one for now. A lot of the game mode stuff is leftovers from BO4 and they were most likely undecided what of it was gonna return or not.
Disclaimer: I write this for posterity and anyone who may read it and build off what you've said, not just to reply to you. So many of the elements were left over from BO4 cause they built this game off of it, at least the zombies afaik. In the alpha the full power and bonus points were the bo4 announcer, along with the graphic that pops up for max ammo, along with the bowie knife (to this day) being from BO4. Rush and Gauntlet were also from BO4.
Honestly, I wouldn’t have minded at all, if Die Maschine (particularly because it was the first map of BOCW), had the same Round Change and Round Starting theme to previous games. Just from how it is viewed here, it’s a hit for me. Dunno if others agree, but I like it, not cuz of blinded by nostalgia crap like that, but cuz it actually suits it well, being Nacht Der Untoten slightly reimagined.

The position of the Stamin-up perk machine actually looks better in this version than the final version. It just looks more rewarding to see it sitting there, instead of the dark empty corner of the room. It reminds me of the vibrant BO3 color schemes. It also reminds me of a little interview I watched of Jason Blundell talking about how he uses dynamic lighting to make certain areas of zombies maps look more interesting. Like if he wanted players to go a certain direction in a map, he would light up a certain area in very interesting ways. This trick is definitely lacking in BOCW zombies. The perk machines are all stuffed in weird areas, the pack-a-punch doesn’t stand out anymore, and the lighting on most of the maps are just very repetitive and too similar to each other.
this is because all maps besides Die Maschine were campaign levels re-tooled into zombie maps (even Die Maschine isn't 100% original since it uses Nacht as a base) most of the lighting on Firebase/Mauer/Forsaken is exactly the same as campaign, very few areas were re-touched for the zombie versions. shame.
I disagree that Stamin-Up looks better there, but I agree on a lot of other stuff you said. I play a game when it comes to the Zombies maps' layouts regarding things like perks, mystery box locations, and even Gobblegum machines. I call it "Plopped or Placed." When a perk machine is 'placed', it looks like a well thought out spot and it fits in without looking out of place and feels like it's a reasonable distance away from other perk machines. 'Plopped' is when a perk machine looks haphazardly put in without fitting in and it looks like an afterthought with it sometimes being a design choice (ie Nuketown or Zetsubou parachutes). With that being said, Cold War has MAJOR ploppage going on. Forsaken is the worst case 🤮🤮
Interesting more people are getting the know-how to load this. If you want something interesting to document, there’s a lot of unused maxis dialogue if you force load the ural map (can’t remember exact file name) which sort of shows they were toying with the narrative as late as June at least in the build I have.
you can play outbreak in the pre alpha btw, game crash because you need to select the warzone map from mp then switch to zombie and outbreak, all "map" are playable except armada and collateral

The PAP prices really should have been kept. The biggest problem with the BO4 perks system is that you couldn't alter your perks in game so you were forced to play one specific way. CW recreated this problem just with guns. You can only really use one gun for the whole game because it costs 50k to upgrade it to max potential
It’s interesting that they almost kept the weapon walking animations the same as BO3 and BO4’s! I always thought it looks SUPER clunky how the guns always go down to the bottom of the screen and shakes violently around the screen when you walk in the full game. It’s clear that they added those animations to rival MW19’s animations.

It’s weird hearing the classic sounds and music from the original games in Cold War. It’s in a sense like remastering an old game but using the original sounds and voices. Kinda like a non-shitty GTA Trilogy type of deal…
love how much of bo4 was used to develop the game
Cold War zombies with another year of dev time and some changes to the mechanics, what could have been...
2:36 those arent richtofen voicelines they are bo4 samantha voicelines alot of stuff is reused from bo4
I've said this in a different video but I wonder if one day we'll get to see SG's Cold War game before Treyarch took over. It would be interesting to see
0:14 this is the BO4 version not bo1
This was very interesting 🗣️🗣️
This really does make me wonder how differently BO4/CW zombies would've gone if given more development time and money.
Why is the Pre Alpha Dark aether better than the regular one?
I loved the way CWZ started out. I did not care for outbreak and I really disliked the operators. I’m hoping that Treyarch focuses on the stuff that made CWZ fun, and adds a crew, less emphasis on outbreak.
Og Sounds in Cold War would’ve made sense since it’s the sequel to bo1 but Samantha and the power ups wouldn’t
omggg frrr
Man, if only we could have used our points to buy armor instead of the whole scrap mechanic existing.
It wasn't the worst idea they came up with, but it's tedious as hell
0:14 That's BO4's version of damned. C'mon man.
Also at 3:16 the Rampage inducer was added in an update after fan feedback. Obviously it wouldn't be in an alpha build of the game.
I dunno why but I like this way more then the current map
This is very cool to look at, but it’s sad to see how much stuff was “done” in pre-alpha that was held back at launch for dripfeeding.
Hey so I have this exact build and I'm currently trying to get into it. I keep getting fatal errors and was wondering if you were as well and if so how did you get around them
hey, you got a link where you got it from? cant find it myself
the dark aether sky box was way better than now
could’ve been so good if they actually had time to develop this game and war zone wasn’t a thing
2:33 is that willard wyler announcing? from IW
Yessir, I got it totally wrong as I hadn’t ever played IW before making this video
nope its bo4 samantha
Hooe this guy doesn't get the prototype preservation treatment
so nebulas and galaxies don’t make sense for a dark aether but giant ass jellyfish do?
Bonus points sound bite is from cod IW zombies.
It's literally just Bo4's Aether announcer lol
@@D3AL1O have you played iw zombies?
@@huhuhu557it's from bo4.
