The switch version is playable but the big frame drops happen at the worst times. I’m waiting for it to come to Steamdeck and will be playing it there. I enjoy the gameplay though, it’s very addicting. I just wish it would run a bit smoother.
the froggy outfit is actually so sick, and i'm planning to use the switch version to do farming in my downtime so the auto aim doesn't effect me all that much but it's clearly WAY too powerful and would benefit from being dialed down a bit
Im just mad that a lot of the really beautiful foliage is gone on the switch version. I looked up a guide for the silverwing eggs, and on pc its a lucious looking garden ruins, while on switch... its tan dirt.. and white ruins.. with odd leaf patches where the colorful foliage should be. :(
Also with fishing on switch you can be fairly off the school of fish node and still get it. It’s similar to auto aim feature for hunting but with the fishing gear
I mean, technically you can have betas on switch, but they are generally treated like demos. They are separate software from the full game that doesn’t interact with it. And they don’t have paid elements to them. Besides that, I can say that at least on my launch switch, I did get some pop ins and stutters mostly when getting near kilima village. Also, undocked switch seems like the better way to play the game, at least through my anecdotal evidence. It seemed less fuzzy, especially with focus on character details. Good video. Glad to see I wasn’t the only person to stuff a plushie in a frog.

Great video! I really hope that autoaim is addressed. It should've just been a sight that's clear to understand with a predictable arc in the flight. There's no reason the server should be choosing what target we're aiming at before it hits. I'm gonna laugh so hard when one of the pacifist players tries to shoot a tree and it bends to kill an animal and they freak out publicly.
To be fair the Switch also has Warframe which has been officially in beta since like 2013 and came to the Switch in 2018. At this point the beta tag has lost it's relevance for live service games. It's released to me and it's just up to whatever community it gathers at this point to see how long the ride lasts.
I didn't have an issues while capturing the footage, but I haven't really been back since. I can do some handheld tests and longer play sessions to see how it goes.

Agree with you & others that the graphics are better on PC which is typical for any multi platform game as the Switch can't handle better resolution without impacting game play. I checked it out because I was having issues with my Steam Deck & maintaining connection. I know the Deck isn't supported. But love it. I don't want to jinx it, but since the past update, it's maintaining connection. Hope it continues. So long as it does, I will be using my Deck.
that would be a waste of money when the video proves that it looks best on the Switch but go ahead waste money on a downgraded experience with a steam deck
@spookyboi2248 I tried it on the switch. Honestly didn't think it was bad at all. Considering. I played in handheld and the biggest issue was the smooth frame rate when running on switch. But as big as this game is and how well it worked for me...I was surprised. Esp since I have played dreamlight from the beginning on switch and it was horrid compared to this 😂.
Anyone who owns and plays a Switch knows they didn't buy it for its power. We also know that graphics aren't everything. I'm playing Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince and loving it very much. The graphics are not impressive and I don't even care. The game is just incredibly fun. So much fun! If I want beautiful graphics, I use my PC. It's not the best, but with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650, an AMD Ryzen 5 processor and 700 Watt power supply, it can run practically anything at max settings without any loss of FPS. I will probably play Palia on both. The PC when I want graphics and the Switch when I want portability. I don't own a Steam Deck.
All I could find is the lighting is a tad off for me but my switch renders the graphics textures correctly. The lighting may be eh and the loading of objects may be uh but my pc has good lighting, good loading, but too soft of textures. i want to see the ridges... So overall, visually, switch is better, but gameplay wise, pc is better. The button mapping for switch is ok but it took a bit for me to realize what I was doing. It does make sense though that the r and l triggers are for tools. I even came across one bug so far and it had to do with the community tab not scrolling.
Actually, my laptop was in a low power mode when recording the footage from the elgato in the first part, and in the second half of the footage I collected, after I fixed the mistake, the choppiness is gone. Plus I never saw any of it on the screen as I played, only when I watched the recorded footage.

Regarding the ending, maybe they removed the beta terms to get around Nintendo not allowing beta content?

i mean there is now a steam listing for Palia, but says release of 2024. so fingers crossed that it happens soon for all steam deck users.
