I put a 3800kv Castle Slate in my Base camp and really like it, I know it's overpowered for a crawler. I messed with the throttle curves until I got somewhere I was happy with.
Nice, I didn’t expect it to have such low end throttle control.
FINALLY!!!!! Someone else that talks about the startup speed on the Axe system. I have several fusion 1800kv and eventually grabbed an Axe 2800kv. After feeling the startup on the Fusion at about 90 rpm at the motor, the Axe is TERRIBLE at 600 rpm minimum speed at the motor. Everyone else I talk to says I don't know what I'm talking about and that the Axe can "crawl" as good as the fusion. I had to put my Axe in an RR10 Bomber because it is unusable in any crawler I have IMO.
Fusion or Spektrum 2 in 1 are amazing! The Axe system is not even close.

I have my trx4 sport with 45/11 spur pinion underdrive and 2 speed gearing I think the idle rpm for high foc is around 150-200rpm. The thing creeps so slow. I have noticed with throttle matching low it has a even slower startup. Turn that turbo timing up 10* and let it rip I've had It turned up no problems with heat or crawling.
Awesome video as always! You could put a bigger pinion on the Fusion System and get it to be the same speed provided the torque is there.
I turned the punch and start-up all the way down on mine and it's almost as slow as my brxl-magnum combo, almost. Some underdrive in the rear axle may help as well.
...Wrong direction with gearing/O.D., for what Joe is tryin' to accomplish.

I tend to agree with you. The hobby Wing FOC setup is one of the best out there. I own two of the 3300 and the 2800 KV and swear by them each
That 3300kv on trx4 with 2 speed is nutty. Love it. I ended up putting another in my element enduro2 kit. Its epic.

I have the 10iii jeep JL coming it should be here Monday. I’ll be swapping the trans for the ax10 3gear and running rock pirates shock towers also adding the brace for the panhard on the axle. I’m wanting to keep the jeep body loose some weight for a competitive trail rig running a 2000kv yellow jacket and silent esc so my goal is 5.6lbs or less. Will see if I can make it happen.

Try the hobbywing fusion. The motor and speed control combo. I've got that in my trx4 and I absolutely love it....also I've got just about every treal upgrade so it's extremely heavy and the motor has no problems at all
The Fusion 1800 is magic :) And I'd like you to convert it into a rock racer. It has the rear suspension for it :)

The axe r2 3300kv system has Bluetooth connectivity as well making it far easier to adjust. I love mine in my trx4. The fusion 2300kv system sounds interesting but I have a 1800 that I haven't run yet
I have 3 fusions and one axe I love them all. And you still can't beat a good ole 1080 with a holmes motor off your going brushed

The new trans sounds different from the scx10 2. Is this truck geared lower. It sounds like a coffee grinder. You always make good videos and informative. Your scx6 videos are outstanding.

What's best in a trx4 sport with only 1 speed? 2800kv or 3300kv? I find it to slow with axe 2100kv and snow tracks installed...
Love ya, that was a terrible startup ! I think it needs tuning...or better yet Holmes revolver stubby with silent ESC
Put a bigger Spur Gear on it just for a little more control on the Rocks.
I find that cheaper remotes work better with the axe stuff less touchy better start up speed

I like the fusion systems I have 3 now. They really help to keep clean look under the body
(09:01) "EXO JOE" says... **"MORE (Kv)"** !!! ...[Which = more TOP-END]
Meaning, that (IF) there is enough torque, in each tried motor, then more
top-end WILL equal more "wheelspeed", as long as there is "MORE Kv's"
...which can "potentially" put these RC's to the top of a climb...
"A HELLUVA LOT FASTER" !!!! - And, with a more "free-er" feeling of
all-four wheels, rotating faster...and "FREELY", at the (top) - END... of the
power & RPM "input" !!! (AFTER)..."then" you add more voltage & gearing,
to your liking and application !!!
- In short... due to increasing "Kv"...the wheels "can" carry more
momentum... - to give us/our crawler(s) a BETTER, and MORE "realistic" -
experience !!!! 👌 ...Instead of like usual, with most "out of the box"... "RC
Crawler motors" - our motor's magnets & changing fields, (drastically)...
"affect" - this rotation... - slowing it way down...
...(after)...barely letting-off the throttle... - even a tiny bit !!! 💪🇺🇸

Its sad that most people on TH-cam have fallen into the thought they need to throw more and more shit into their trucks to make content. Not only is it financially harmful to other people but its also unrealistic for most.... Wish people could just make videos of their rigs and have fun instead of showing off how much they can afford and do to their trucks.
I am SOO fed the F*ck up with COSTLY brushless swaps on 1/10 scale crawler RCs that are already doing 30 scale mph when pacing an adult homo-sapien walking. I know ALL about the pros of brushless motors; but until a proper 'sensored' brushless system is available for $50 or less they're far too expensive and stupidly superfluous for an RC that needn't go over 5 MPH to get the job done.
