when the track is in the air like that, it tends to free spin. There is the slightest bit of friction and as soon as the drive belt catches it continues to go. I'd say this is normal.
@18jivan and its also off the ground so the clutch is just catching a little....if you get a sled stuck and lift the back end up while getting it out the track will spin
I dont know a whole lot about the 440's, but it looks like the drive belts a little tight. They suppose to be like that? I also just made a home made can. I'll have a video of it soon.
I don't know. Here in Vermont we haven't really got a good amount of snow and when we did my sled wasn't really running right. I had to put over 30 hours of work into the suspension and then I had to take the recoil off and fix that and put new pistons in it. I got it all back together and we got about 7-8 inches of snow and I took it in the back field and got about 80 mph out of it and I didn't even have it to the bar.
wasnt there a discussion on dootalk about his can, and how it wouldnt make enough back pressues or something? guess not huh. well anyways, how does it run? any performance gains? i'll look him up and see if he wants to make another
hey i had some modified suspension would one of these 440 race sleds be enough power and just good enough for me i wiegh 285lbs and have a xc800 but thinking to switching over to a 440 race sled
I know it's an old sled but I have a completly modded (no stock parts at all) 1999 Polaris indy 500 and it idles at 1400RPM's but it dosent engage untill about 4300-5000RPM's. Any sugestions on how I coud make that engage at 3500 or 4000RPM's insted?
@brandy151 Yeah. Kinda. It'll slowly idle up then the clutch will engage and it will idle down a little and then just stay at 3k. Once in a while I'll notice my sled is rolling away. XD
do u have one for an arctic cat f7 2006 i made one but im not sure if ill lose power from it i kno someone who made one and lost alot of power on his sled
that small whit oil jug right abouve your break rotar on the side whats that for I have a 2006 skidoo rev 440 an it has that an idk what its for any info would b great thanks
you shouldn't have to change jets just for a can... if you decide to add a mod pipe then you should also upgrade your intake as well as jets... prob 500's
Back pressure comes from the pipe, not the canister you dumbass. Lol. You can go straight pipe after the main pipe where it tapers down. Everything after that is sound muffling/tuning.
When they idol at 2k its prolly still in warm up stage burp her onec you'll see you'll all see lol. My 07 would hang idle and it turned out to be Y-pipe bolts going MIA
Very nice sound. Its very deep and throaty, but has a great crackle at higher RPMs.
that thing sounds awsome i have never heard a home made can sound like that
Your belt deflection is off your clutch is engaging
My 2001 Arctic Cat ZR 500 engages at 5200 rpm and it's all stock.. Nothing's ever been messed with on that sled.
I had a home made can in my 440 $30 tractor exhaust and a welder ull be mint

Holy crap, That sound is totally amazing!!! :o
Better hope it has enough back pressure or it will blow up.
that's what the expansion chamber is for. (the fat pipe) lol
@range9414 it's a 440.... is's supposed to have a higher idle for faster clutch engagement
@18jivan and its also off the ground so the clutch is just catching a little....if you get a sled stuck and lift the back end up while getting it out the track will spin
Sounds sick! You wouldn't happen to have anymore pics there would you?
I dont know a whole lot about the 440's, but it looks like the drive belts a little tight. They suppose to be like that? I also just made a home made can. I'll have a video of it soon.
thats a amazing can i would love that can and your sled XD

@FreeLineProductions its called clutching, and you make the belt ride like maybe an 8 th inch max above your seconday
You should put a monster sticker on it too! it adds 25 hp
@18jivan These skidoos have like a 5k engagement. Good launch
You don't have any problems with back pressure ?
Another season down, how did it work?
Pureadrenaline from Dootalk
wasnt there a discussion on dootalk about his can, and how it wouldnt make enough back pressues or something? guess not huh. well anyways, how does it run? any performance gains? i'll look him up and see if he wants to make another
You should make one for a 550 supersport 2005 they don't really make any cans for this sled
O my god that growl and crackle!!
It's because the track is too tight, or he has his elf deflection set too tight. Can sounds sick man
Why would you want it to? The higher the rpm's it engages at the more power you'll have to the track out of the hole.
You should be a small dealer that sells that type of can
oh kk didnt know that...can u do catwalks easy with that sled?
Sounds good but a 2 stroke should run at like 1400- 1600 rpms and engage at about 3500 rpms.
sounds amazing bro! i wanna get a can for my sno pro.
hey i had some modified suspension would one of these 440 race sleds be enough power and just good enough for me i wiegh 285lbs and have a xc800 but thinking to switching over to a 440 race sled
my clutch engages at 4100 rpms i don't know about the 440s but i thought they engaged at lower rpms

Cool that you built your own can but the snowmaxhine sounds not that good to me at idle not hating just stating my opinion on how it sounds to me
sounds awesome man! what size risers are those?
@jsr116 Hey im from ontario and it costs me like 250 total max..worth it I have a 600HO and it is LOUD!
sweet homemade can,but you have an exhaust leak were your can meets the pipe
wish you guys could make oen for my 2000 zl 700

that sounds so sick.
honestly I never thaught of it like that. Then I'll deffenatly leave it the way it is. Thanks!
that sounds awesome man!
@18jivan my sled kicks in at 5500 it all depends on what you have done to it
on my xc 700 couldnt i just take out the packing to make it louder
Sorry but your 04 is an 03. I cant tell by the tunnel it had the beaver tail suspension and I can see it has had the delete kit done to it
Sorry to break it to you it's an 04. 440s never had the beaver tail.
Sounds Sweet!!! Did you jet it?
Okay and do you guys ship? im located in Saskatchewan, Canada.
@range9414 my Viper MTN runs at 1800rpm and track engages at 4000
@1995racer i think that jaws make em for 550s
thats sick dude...
do u have one for an arctic cat f7 2006 i made one but im not sure if ill lose power from it i kno someone who made one and lost alot of power on his sled
@brandy151 What kind of sled do you have that the clutch engages @ 2k rpm????
do you have to re jet
yeah man you throw a clutch kit on there it wont start moving till 6 grand
how much did it coats you to make that
sweet bro nice sled too
wow that sounds good
is your clutch tight enough?
awesome sled!!
How did you make it
that small whit oil jug right abouve your break rotar on the side whats that for I have a 2006 skidoo rev 440 an it has that an idk what its for any info would b great thanks
Broc Libby that is for your crank bearings, keep it oiled at all times.
where can you get that windshield?
Still make the cans??
@range9414 Whats it supposed to run at?
what did u make the pipe out of ?
what did you use to make it?
@wonsdeeni stop the video at 0:17, its idling at like 1600 RPMs.

@mrjoeypahl lol i just read your question on google dude says 75 bucks and gives you a link
damn that sounds good!
my 98 zr 600 takes off at 6,500 rpm and idles at 1,700

@ wonsdeeni What Year Is Your Snowmobile?
Andrew Brinston 2003-4
you shouldn't have to change jets just for a can... if you decide to add a mod pipe then you should also upgrade your intake as well as jets... prob 500's
wuts the song in the begining
sounds good on idle
you dont want that exaust on there it doesnt give it enough back compression
Back pressure comes from the pipe, not the canister you dumbass. Lol. You can go straight pipe after the main pipe where it tapers down. Everything after that is sound muffling/tuning.
wow, sounds good
what was that song
sounds good you should make mew one lol!!
440 race sled - 100 hp, premix, jetting. your choice
