What a unique subject to talk about! It's good to see that Edinburgh embraces its past. That is evident in how little the photos have changed over the years. Wonderful!

Love looking at these pictures. Brings Edinburgh alive, for all of us that can't get there. Thank you so much. Learn so much from all your vlogs. Its hard to believe that some of these buildings have been there since the 1500's amazing! Competition

Love old architecture AND your videos. Your attention to detail is wonderful as you point out changes to existing buildings. Looking at 100 year old buildings is brilliant. Watching from America and can't wait to visit again. Stay safe.

Great video. I love the history those pictures show. My wife and have subscribed to your channel for a couple years now . We have learned so much about Edinburgh and Scotland in general form you . The sad part is that just today I cancelled the last part of our 22 day trip in sept. we had scheduled and bought and paid for ,for our first trip to Scotland. I am Scottish Canadian and I have traced my fathers lineage to the 1700's in Orkney and had a trip of a life time planned until Covid came along . Your videos, along with others like Shaun , taught us so much about Scotland. We still plan on coming , hopefully next year in Sept.. Its not easy watching videos of a place you've always wanted to go to right after you cancelled your stay in a castle but you and Kirsten have made us just more dedicated to making this dream trip come true. Best wishes to the both of you and the new Broonford clan member that hopefully we will see soon. Hope to see you on the Royal Mile .

These videos are so fun. In Texas, buildings older than 50 years are torn down so it blows our mind that this places in Edinburgh are so much older! Your videos make want to come back so bad! Hopefully we’ll get to do that soon! Competition!!!!

I found your channel by accident. LOVING it, You’re taking me on a tour of one of my fav Scottish cities. I was born in Scone, Perth and emigrated with my family to Canada (Toronto) in 1957. Love Scotland and have been back as recently as 2015 with my sister. We toured the Highlands and stayed in Edinburgh. Learned so much more thru watching your vids. Love them. Please keep it up - its so rewarding. I know I want to come back as there’s so much more I need to see to salve my Scottish heart.

These videos are great. My daughter came for the weekend last week and we sorted out loads of old family and village photos. It's amazing to see how things have altered....not always for the better...over the years. We can trace our family history back to the 1700's , it's amazing. Hope Kirsten is well...not long to go now. The first time I was in Edinburgh it was the buildings in Old Town that fascinated me. I'm a builder by trade. "How" did these builders build these structures in the "times" that they did and on the almost impossible ground, hillsides? Love the then and now but more the fact that the buildings are STILL there! Good stuff Tony.

I love your great city and appreciate the architecture from so many periods. It makes me think the more things change the more they stay the same. I want to see John Knox home when we finally go to Edinburgh. It is very high on a long list of places to visit. We keep Knox's writings in our home library which I love reading from time to time. Very well done.

Great video again this week; excellent suggestion for a series Kirsten! I love all of the walks and wanders downtown and the pride you have for your city. The craftsmanship that was put into these buildings and the edifices is definitely worthy of a good 'geek out' - they really are architectural works of art! The skill of these artisans and stonemasons was amazing and I love that Edinburgh has preserved so many of these buildings rather than tear them down and replace them with new ones with far less character! It's one of my favorite things about the city. (Well, that and all of the lovely pastry shops!) Stay well! :-)

I appreciate your videos, which keep me really connected with Edinburgh, my favorite city in the world! I was supposed to have been there in May, but then our world was immersed in pandemic. I like how you've been mentioning the precautions that have been and are being taken in Scotland against COVID, and I love to see the care for others that you have. I live in California, and we haven't been and aren't being as careful, so our numbers are super high right now, which is awful. Your videos let me escape for a while each time you post, so thank you! I do have to give a shout out to that steeple between St. John's and your castle in your third picture here. This is of St. Cuthbert's Church - the building and kirkyard of which are among my favorite places to visit on the rare occasions I'm able to be in Edinburgh. I believe you've mentioned its historic, fascinating round guard tower in one or more previous videos. Keep up the good work! Competition!

I love all your video's and I learn a lot from them. But I love these then and now even more, because when my husband and I are comming to Scotland and Edinburgh next year, we wanne try to make some then and now pictures our self because we wear late Victorian and Edwardian inspirt clothing our self. We can't wait untill we travel to the beaityfull Scotland. Competition.

I love watching Edinburgh videos. The John Knox comparison makes me think of the Outlander series when they are based in Edinburgh on the mile 😂 keep up the good work.
    Competition.
