I finally took mine out for its first camping trip. It works great! With a wind screen, it boils water as quickly as any stove I've used. The piezo igniter is a nice change from using matches; there is no "oops I forgot the matches" anxiety now. I love how simple and easy to use this stove is.

The Spider simmers very well, too. Great stove.

      Ap,
I agree. It's a great little stove that can operate past freezing temperatures. As much as I love my MSR Whisperlite, nowadays I would have to hire a Stove Assistant to help me carry the thing. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and comment. It's greatly appreciated.

    Yeah,
I really like mine. It's become my go-to stove in winter. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. It's greatly appreciated.

Great review. Thank you. Is it possible to place a small mug on the stove? In other words, what is the inside diameter?

      Hi,
the inside diameter of the legs are about 2 1/2" so you can use a pretty small mug on it. I've been using it over all my other stoves because it is so versatile and lightweight. Thanks for the kind words and taking the time to watch.

@@semperparatusoffgrid I like your outlook on life. Your video was well thought out and shows aspects that most reviewers leave out. The use of the wind screen with a remote canister stove can result in faster boil and save significant fuel. Also, the demo of cold fuel startup is very helpful. Keep the good content coming!

Great review on the spider stove!! Do you have any sputtering issues with the stove when the inverted canister method is used? I have the same stove and it seems to be working fine except that the stove would seem to sputter when set to full blast.

      Hi caladan2001,
I haven't seen any sputtering issues, though I rarely run it on constant inverted. If it's really cold, I run it inverted just a little bit but the preheat tube does a great job of vaporizing the fuel. I use an old cat food can to keep my cartridge inverted and feeding consistently. It rarely gets below the teens here in western Washington though.
