Okay, question? My ps3 is stuck on an update. It says “system update” but it keeps freezing & all, & I cant turn it off because when I do, it takes me back to the update screen. What do I do with that?-
Hold down the Power Button located on the front of the PlayStation 3 system for 10 seconds. The power indicator will turn red. Restart the console by pressing the Power Button again. Now, attempt to update your PlayStation 3 again.
If the PlayStation®3 system freezes or freezes while on the XMB screen: 1) Enter Safe Mode and select Restore File System. Restore File System will attempt to repair any damaged files on the internal hard drive that may be causing problems. 2) Enter Safe Mode and select Restore PS3 System.

@@HassToFix Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! Despite all of my attempts, I'm never able to get the device to make it to Step 3. I tried for two hours last night, but every time, the device would turn on (green light) and the fan would spin for a couple of seconds, then slow down to a whisper, and then at the 30 second mark, the device would shut back down (solid red light). There never is a second or third beep before it shuts back down. It's as if the power button isn't even being recognized by the system while the device is running, like the system is expecting something else to happen, times out from waiting for that thing to happen, and then shuts back down...but of course, there's no video output, so I have no idea what it wants to have happen! (The eject button is recognized when you press it, and it gives the normal 3 error beeps if you press it when there's nothing in the CD-ROM slot. Only the power button seems to be unrecognized.) I've read a lot of forums that seemed to indicate that this could be a control board issue. It's strange and disappointing that Sony didn't create a more reliable reset feature on the PS3 (or at least a backdoor to force a reset when the power button option doesn't work).
Before trying to fix your PS3 yourself, check to see if you have warranty. If you don't, don't stress. You should also try ringing Sony support or contacting them via email to question problems with them. what you need to do is carefully remove the top of the PS3's shell BUT remember where the screws go. Once you are at the inner workings of the system take a can of compressed air and start to dust the system carefully. Once you no longer see any dust start to put the shell back on, and your system should work. Hope you got it to work
@@HassToFix Thank you so much for your advice! I'll call Sony first and if they can't help, then I'll try this, as I don't have any warranty on the device.

@@HassToFix hey, I’ve watched a bunch of vids on resetting my controller to get those rapid blinking lights to stop and get my controller to sync. I’ve bought 3 brand new controllers and can’t get any of them to sync to my system, so you have any clue what might be wrong?
@@classicghostrider2715 hi there how to sync, hold down the PS button and the Share button simultaneously for 5 seconds. When the new controller appears in the list of Bluetooth device, select it with the other controller. The new controller will then be synced with your PS4.
@@classicghostrider2715 it can be reset and reconfigured from the default settings. Most PS3 systems freeze during gameplay or shortly after you turn it on. It might be a hardware problem. The hard disk might be damaged or the fan is dusty. If your system freezes, hold down the power button until it shuts down.
before doing that you should say you don't mind losing data.. so they people don't do it without doing a backup... I know that but many will restore like you did and think they won't lose a thing.!

1) Enter Safe Mode and select Restore File System. Restore File System will attempt to repair any damaged files on the internal hard drive that may be causing problems.

1)take out the hard drive

4)format in NTFS - that's right, NTFS - don't use quick format
5)get the rom of whatever version you were on before you upgraded - i had to search, but i found the us 3.30 rom
6)copy that rom to usb drive in folders PS3 ==> UPDATE ==> put rom named PS3UPDAT.PUP here
7)shut down pc, take out hd, take usb drive too
put hd back in ps3, put usb stick in ps3
8)boot ps3

Try Connect PS3 With AV Cable instead of the HDMI to see if you can get a successful installation Try resetting the TV by turning the TV and PS3 off, then unplug the TV power cord from the outlet and plug it back in. Then turn your TV and PS3 back on and see if the picture appears.

Try doing Soft Reset on your Ps4
Start by holding down the Power and Eject button at the same time for about 20 seconds.

What happens when your screen freezes on the menu
Most PS3 systems freeze during gameplay or shortly after you turn it on. It might be a hardware problem. The hard disk might be damaged or the fan is dusty. If your system freezes, hold down the power button until it shuts down.
