I had the pleasure of seeing Hawkwind in 73 on the Space Ritual tour... can't recall how many times I've seen them since... but the original line up is still the best... Long Live the Hawk Lords!
This, along with 'Orgone Accumulator,' and the Palace Springs version of 'the Damage of Life,' is among some of my favorite rock songs, along with anything by Blue Oyster Cult, YES, Pink Floyd, Foetus, Throbbing Gristle, the Doors, the Cure, and DEVO.
I have been in awe of the music of Hawkwind since I discovered them in my college days in the late 70s. This track in particular, and set to these images, is mindblowing.
No, you`re not alone. I remember when I was 17 I played along with this song, with my bass and my little keyboard. I must have been really into it, because by the end, I was crying my eyes out. Yes, I was.
this is the most awesome song by Hawkwind ever recorded! saw it done live back in the mid '90s with Nik Turner, and it was so amazing!! still makes me think of the man who introduced me to them back in the late '80s, Rixmyth. he's gone now, but the music lives on in my heart and soul. Hawkwind was never a mainstream band, thank GOD!! they knew better! :-)
Playing this in the house, tapping my hands on the archway...my butterfly knife fell off the wall and skewered this song right into the turntable. I was heartbroken. I still played this song for years, just lifted the needle up to skip the jagged sliced part. ♫♪
what an awrsome track.that stands the test ov time a major influence on my early days growing up, what an amazing life 44 yrs spent growing.and aging with such an incredible band that Hawkwind have always have been always will be thanks for such an amazing journey far beyond the realms ov life long may you inspire and guide me Onwards
im a recent hawk fan, but i still think there the SHIT!!! i wish lemmy would some tours with them, or may the and motohead could do a collab tour, that would be frigin' awsome!!!!!
@SOW631 A Hawkwind/Motorhead tour would be a dream come true. Lemmy & Dave seem to have given up any animosity years ago, so I bet they and the fans would have a blast, and I'm sure they'd have no trouble selling out halls such as San Francisco's Fillmore auditorium.
@ginzojoe Yeah they are awesome still going after all these years too :) glad u have (eventually lol) become a fan have fun getting to know them always and forever hawkwind :)
@SOW631 I agree, utter crap, i've stopped going to see them, Hawkwind was Lemmy and Simon King,Brock turned it into Brockwind,They sacked Lemmy just as Bob started to be front man...Lemmy himself says he's was the engine of Hawkwind, that sound went forever along with Lemmy, who proved by his success that he WAS the engine.
You should listen to the DVD Recorded at Newcastle a few years ago,I was there, featured Arthur Brown and Huw...absolute shite and it sounded worse being there !
I agree, the current Hawkwind are pathetic. Hawkwind went downhill after the early eighties, when Brock seems to have taken over. His solo albums are awful. I bought Take Me To Your Leader. A couple of good tracks otherwise bland, weak, dull, boring dross. He even copyrighted the name.
I remember 1976, borrowing hall of the mountain grill and warrior. Nearly 50 years on, still blown away
I was singing this as i recovered from surgery, the nursing staff adored me

Saw them in Detroit at Ford Auditorium for free thanks to WABX.

Just one problem -- there'd have been a massive argument over who'd top the bill, I can just see it.
cooler than acid!

Baby Hawaiian woodrose seeds
Brockwind.
lol
It's hard to believe Dave Brock can still call his Band Hawkwind when you listen to this !
JOERI D AIRE
Quoi, on m'avait caché ça?
That is a shame as Brown and Langton are very talented.
