Nick Turner RIP. This is probably my favourite Hawkwijd song he ever wrote. I just love his vocals in it and the tune. Not to mention the solo. Then there is the keyboards and the guitar riff. Sublime. Another wonderful songwriter has departed.
R.I. P Nik Turner We're children playing in the sun A sense of freedom on the run We never knew what time it was We just knew how sublime it was Our course determined by our stars My momma knows just where we are The Earth was forming from below A dragon showed which way to go Spacing out, we're spacing in Phasing out, we're phasing in Turning up by burning out Lifting off and gazing in Our luck, it changes with the tide Our constellations changing side Macro mirror-image fades Our over-conscience colour shades We're astral-planing, floating free On our continuum frequency A ring was formed out of the stone Metamorphose, tetraform Spacing out, we're spacing in Phasing out, we're phasing in Turning up by burning out Lifting off and gazing in Our luck, it changes with the tide Our constellations changing side As macro mirror-image fades Our over-conscience colour shades We're astral-planing, floating free On our continuum frequency A ring was formed out of the stone Metamorphose, tetraform Spacing out, we're spacing in Phasing out, we're phasing in Turning up by burning out Lifting off and gazing in
Yes, one of the best Hawkwind track. In 1978, I played this track on a small tape reader in a Punk rocker squat in London. It was my begining as DJ, in the middle of 3 dozens of motorheaded punks, playing D-Rider, Paradox, Master of Universe and of course, Lost Johnny. Thanx Hawkwind, Dave and Lemmy.
Yeah..... I was at a festival '84 ish.....near Bristol ... I was..... Altered consciousness by black micro dots..... I was tight with this convoy girl and they got this played on a system on a Lorry !! For one second, the stars, people, music, thought and spirit coalesced and made perfect sense..... But when I'd got a pen , it escaped me and was lost..... Perhaps it's not to be described or comprehended without the "doors of perception " ajar......
@@stevenstratton4785 right on brother, I remember those micro dots!! Black, yellow & maybe one other colour. SDP rather than your basic acid!! Visuals were off the scale, everything moved!! Never a bad trip!✌️😇
If Space/Time could have a sound -- this would be it. This tune and video are truly cosmic! I never grow tired of hearing it. I'd like to think this tune is number one on God's playlist.
This is a deeply mysterious and haunting song. I remember having this on vinyl back in 82/83 and used to find it a little too mysterious. I loved the Mellotron on it especially and then the ending with the soaring notes and noises. It starts and especially ends a bit like Spirit of the Age on Live 79. It has that minimal Space Ritual type beginning but gets a lot richer as the band's sound has developed with Simon House as a member.
The Mellotron is fantastic on this. Simon House added another dimension to the group. It's 30+ years since I heard this song (1982-1983 until 2016) and I can still remember this track. Sometimes HW were too cosmic for me back in the 80s and it freaked me out. Now I am freaked out anyway so I can sit back and enjoy it. This got me addicted to Mellotron along with Entangled and Watcher of the Skies and all that early 70s Genesis Tony Banks keyboards stuff. Mellotron voices - the best keyboard sound ever.
First saw them live in 75 at Glasgow Apollo and occasional concert since then. Live they are fantastic but there were some stunning studio albums as well.
A most underrated "space arias." Many kudos to you, Sammycoin! Great images coupled to this mind-blowing tune! If Space/Time had a soundtrack -- it would be this tune. The music and the accompanying images makes one feel rather small compared to the universe. I am truly humbled by the beauty of the universe. I believe that God would want it like that.

I swear that's Nik Turner on vocals.
Still get goosebumps all these years later. Such a beautiful song delivered masterfully.
Wonderful. Bringing back many memories of when I purchased the album and rushed home to play it in my Hawkwind Den of a bedroom...
Listening to this, I'm in my silver machine going back to my teen years in the 70s.....superb!

One of my all time favs this one! Definitely top 3 from the space ritual era. HAWKWIND/Turner at their best. ✌️😇
33 years after last listening to this I could still remember some of Lemmy's bass melodies at the end.
Nik's true masterpiece specially with the fine mellotrone sound

Is that a mellotron? I didn't know that. I thought only Mike Pinder had figured it out.
@@johnkilroy2331 it is for sure ...
