is there not enough padding in these ski racer helmets? they look pretty thin. what if they wore motorcycle helmets? of course when i was a kid, nobody wore any helmets. i crashed enough on icey slopes, wonder why i never had a concussion. i never skied at 70 mph, though.
It's possible but she was pretty entangled in the netting (I just rewatched the original coverage). She had a hard landing on her back that could have knocked the wind out of her although it is also possible the back of her helmet could have struck the snow/ice fairly hard. When she skied down she waved like she was okay other than a possible cut lip or chin, probably from the fencing. If she was concussed then her coaches and the Austrian federation would also be culpable, not just the FIS.
@@lawrencewestby9229 - The FIS needs to install some sort of accelerometer in those helmets because it's crazy what the skiers go through and no one seems to care
Belatedly, Stephanie you let your skis get too close together. This means you were standing up too straight. It means you had very unstable balance. With your legs in more of a tennis serve receive stance (roughly shoulder distance apart), you have a lower center of gravity (good). You cannot be tipped one way or the other easily. You are more rock solid even at high speed. Further you are riding a flatter ski in general for both skis. This also makes it harder to tip you to either side. You will then lose control much less rapidly. That factor gives you longer to adjust to any minor bump in the course that may throw you off.
ouch! that head hitting the slope! glad she is ok.

They won't wear anything bigger unless the FIS mandates it. In a way, alpine skiing has never had better helmets than today, it used to be even worse!
She's absolutely gorgeous 😍
She was okay, she competed in a second DH and a super G the same weekend and a super G the following weekend.
The way she laid down for a few seconds tells me she might've sustained a subconcussion and the FIS completely ignored it

These icy courses are homicidal; not only the contestants lose control easily but they crash badly on the hard slippery ice
転倒箇所は、難しいところでした。凄いコースです。
Hope she was ok .
Stephanie raced in every one of next races of the season till today when she ended season with cancelled, last speed race in Lenzerheide.
That doesn't look good. Hopefully she will recover soon.
All this Risk for human glory...
Does FIS have brain injury protocols in place? Who decides if the athlete is fit to continue to compete? " She looks fine. She's not even bleeding."
青春はすばらしい
нормально все у неё?

To som bola moc mäkká ale keď sa s ním ešte raz stretnem tak to ľutuje že mi prišiel do cesty.
you know what the dangers are: no sorrow at all
The FIS and teams need to have a much better treatment of concussions and subconcussions
Cool but she decided to ethisch. So no empathy
