Thank you..I'm interested. Just bought myself and my daughter-in- law a potted Stargazer Lilies and we both loved them! Thanks for sharing your "know how" and experience! God bless you!

I admired your passion and patience to take care of these beautiful plants. I love plants and nature and they helped me going through my stress. My family would always gifted me plants and flowers. In winter We kept my plants in the house but some like cloe, African violets n other perennials didn’t survived, very delicate. I got 7 different lilies collections and they are so beautiful. They stayed outside they’re toughed. Thankyou for your nice video

I have a lot of plants on my balcony, but I always wanted to have a row of lillies since they are my fav flower, and my boyfriend buys them for me ever couple of weeks but I always felt sad gettung them already cut. Imma do this and hopefully enjoy them every year while drunking cocktail on my balcony. Thanks a lot
I really enjoyed this video.last year my lily order came to late to plant , so I put them in pots in my cold basement put them out on the porch this Spring. The potting soil retained too much moisture from rain , so I dumped them out to plant in the garden. One was starting to rot and the scales were falling off, so I put them in sand in a small flat. I’m hoping they get bulbils. It’s 49 degrees this morning, and they are outside in sun, rain and whatever weather. I’m wondering if I should put them on the heat mat for awhile then back outside. I don’t know if they’re going to grow anyway.

I think for Asiatic lilies the process could be little faster after you put'em in a pot especially in warmer areas like NE Florida, whats your thoughts ?
Ok got a question. Last year I bought some lily bulbs from tractor supply and planted them in a pot. They sprouted (4 of them) and my dog decided to pull them up and chew them, lol I did re-plant them and they did sprout and grow flowers (only a few). This year they came back AMAZING I have 9 stalks now with 14 buds! I got my first bloom open this morning! Question is...why do they not smell this year? Last year they smelled great. Should I have added something to the soil?
It is very helpful. I will try it out this year. What do you do with the old lily bulbs that got removed scales? Do you put them back into ground or store in fridge?
This video came in handy for me. I just bought a bag of lily bulbs and there were scales with tiny little bulbs forming. Thanks to this video I know what to do with them.
hey i bought 2 store bought oriental lilies bulb, planted them separately one of them grew nice big stem. other one had quite a big growing eye but it was a little bent after couple weeks it didn't grew any bigger than what i bought. do you think i could do anything to the bulb to make grow again this year or next year maybe? or is it useless to save it now? Need help : )
@@lelia818 hi, california poppies are best sowed in cool temps (fall to winter) in full sun, outdoors (unless you have hard frosts in winter; they can handle light frost). i just learned this year that heat above 80 will do a number on the seedlings! btw, i'm from cali
Fascinating video. Can I ask what are the best companion plants to grow with a Lily. I've built a new 1m square planter and ordered a pack of 9 Royal Lily bulbs and would like to know what plants I could also grow in there that would compliment and even benefit the Lily. Thanks.
Hi thanks for this video. I have a few oriental lilies the stargazer and once I start seeing the leaves I check em everyday or two for those little red lily leaf beetles I'm really good at catching em my question is what can I do to prevent these beetles from finding my lilies? Yes they can, it's going to be a while before they get too crowded. I have amaryllis in large pots, theyre really full pots and they bloom like crazy.( Old horse manure 2 year old,at least, looks like black dirt)works like a charm to feed them. Make some compost manure tea and side dress the plants with the dry compost. Here in south Louisiana, my stargazers and amaryllis never dies, stays outside and green through the winter, they're in bloom now, April 21 and the stargazers are deep green and will be blooming soon.
When can I take out the bulb? Wait until all the bloom done? Or i should wait for a couple week/month for the leave photosinthesis until all leave fell?

Can you just plant the lily scales in the garden? I did this on fall when I divided my orientalist lilies and accidentally pulled a few scales off the established bulbs? I live in 7a and we have had a cold winter so they’ve definitely had the right weather for stratification.

this video is so helpfull mostly if i dont want to spend so much money for bulbs. i know it takes years but is fun to try different things. thank you!
Thank you so much. I've seen other videos of cutting up the entire bulb into sections... but this seems less brutal. I have to try this! Thanks!
No need to cut the bulbs. Each scale will produce 1-2 new bulbs, plus you can save the original one by replanting. 🌱🌱🌱

I always like to plant smaller annuals from seed with my lilies. This way I can add different plants with the lilies every growing season. 🌱🌱🌱
thanks for the videos.it's amazing.
How do you do that with the seasons? If you dig up and scale in the summer after they bloom by the time you do everything itll only be fall.
I have a question, the rabbit or squirl cut the lilly tops in my garden. Will it grow new shoots or will the bulb rot?
Take it up and put in a pot or just leave it, it may not do much until next year.

Ideally, the plant should die back naturally first. This is required because the bulb continues to store energy for the next growing season.

If the bulbs have grown into clumps, dividing them would probably be better than scaling. I usually do that every 4-6 years. 🌱🌱🌱
