    Great video! I was at an 1833 church but the front yard was undetectable because of electrical interference. My numbers were just rolling.
    After seeing your video I am thinking of going back but turning down the sensitivity.
    Thanks for the information that you pass on to everyone to make a more successful hunt.

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you and I’m glad you like the video. Try going back with your sensitivity levels set a little lower as well as try to run in a single frequency. If you can switch between the single frequencies and find one that is running quiet instead of falsing.... You may be able to turn the sensitivity up more than running in Multifrequency. Good luck at your church site sounds exciting

      Square Nail Squirrel I went back and applied the new knowledge . With my AT Pro I was getting beeps but discovered that the earth has been disturbed for installation of a sprinkler system. I did not find anything but rusted bottle caps, square nails and iron. However I came away with My curiosity satisfied! Thanks!

    I have been metal detecting since 1973. I really enjoy your videos. I just found your channel today and subscribed. I got rid of everything and bought a Minelab CTX-3030. I have gold machines also. Keep up the good work. If you ever come to northern or NW Nevada, you are welcome to hunt here.

      Thank you Mopar monster, I try to do my best with these videos and I enjoy doing them. Lately I’ve been having troubles finding sites that are moist enough to actually dig in without killing the yard. This past Sunday I went out but after being there for about an hour I headed home. I’m glad that what I’m doing on here has a positive impact and I will continue doing as I have been. Once the rains begin in the ground moistens back up I’ll be out making a video about one a week or more. For now I’ve just been dealing with the transmission that one out of my truck and it’s kind of upsetting as well as very expensive. Thank you for tuning in to check out the videos and thank you for your kind comments.

    Kenny,
    According to one Equinox engineer, EMI is the silent performance killer. "Noise Cancel often." Looks like you pulled off a stellar hunt under very difficult EMI conditions. Oh, and thanks for covering the correct way to replace a plug. The zip-tie method will help me keep those hard-earned permissions. The tie-in to your last video was complete and very much appreciated. Keep up the great work!

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Howard EMI Really messes up a hunt If not managed correctly. It seems that on every site that I’ve been to that has been hunted before, directly under the powerlines is where all the good finds are. I just try my best under those conditions and see what comes up. I figured since I had been out to that site a few days earlier and it has been really hot out, That I would share how my plug survive through the techniques that I use. I have had a lot of people get on here and tell me how terrible of a plug that I did because it’s not a three sided plug. Someone made that three sided plug thing up about 10 years ago and told everybody about it now everybody believes it. Sure, it’s a great technique but it’s all about keeping up moisture in the ground and not so much cutting three sides and ripping one. Thank you for tuning in to check out the video and I hope you’re out doing some hunting as well.

      Thank you and glad you enjoy the hunt. I tried my best with the videos so it’s nice to hear that you like them. Utilizing the maps will really help you out in understanding the site. You pretty much know what kind a target you’re going to find and range of dates. Sometimes even get the names of the families written on the Maps so that’s kind of cool as well. That video should help you out pretty much but if you have issues just let me know I help you out.

      Thank you I try my best with these videos and the information I provided in them. It takes a lot of legwork, homework, meetings in studying in order to pull all this off. When I first started I knew nothing about my editing software, videography skills, TH-cam, and all the settings that are on my camera which is actually a phone and order make decent video. It’s been one really long learning process has been frustrating at times but rewarding at the same time. I just want to take people on the hunt with me since I don’t hunt with anybody and share my experiences. I don’t really follow a common trend with all the Metal Detecting lingo, trying to get subscribers and followers by asking every five minutes, trying to get somebody to sponsor me so I can sell T-shirts and stickers and all that good stuff. I just want to go out Metal Detecting everybody else does but I just wanna show what I’m doing. Been a normal person you meet at Metal Detecting instead of some superhero. Thank you for your kind comments, I greatly appreciate them. Good luck on any hunts you have coming up And thank you for tuning in to check out the video.

So I just combined a couple decks from that one with this one today and made this video. I’m glad you like the videos I try my best with them. Metal detecting is a great hobby but it comes with challenges so be ready for those. There are a lot of metal detecting videos out there that only show the good without any of the bad or challenges. Take your time with whatever machine you end up buying and learn all the settings and what they are actually Doing whenever you change them. Any machine out there is going to do the job it was designed to do and it is up to the operator to get skilled enough utilizing the machine to speak its language and find what they are looking for. If you decide to go with the equinox it is a great machine and I have thoroughly enjoyed using it the whole time I’ve owned it. It’s took me about six months to save up enough money to get one, just make sure to call a dealer that sells them before you make a purchase online over a website that deals Metal Detectors. The price difference between a small dealer and a big website is quite a difference

    I have read that going to a single frequency on the 800 will quiet the EMI. I haven’t ran into EMI severe enough to try it, but it’s worth a shot. Good video as usual!👍🏻

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes switching from multi to single Will help out in high EMI situations. Whenever you do get into that situation try switching between Each one until you find the one that’s quietest. The only problem with that is if it’s the 40 kHz that’s the quietest you’re going to miss out on any high tones just because it’s geared towards the low tones or low conductors like gold. I’ve only ran my equinox in single frequency a couple times, the performance great

Actually dug it less then 200 ft from the shore of lake Erie.keep the great vids coming.

      Thank you and I am glad that you enjoy the videos. I have not been able to hunt along Lake Erie but I do have a permission on a beach up there that is private. That is great that you found a shielded nickel, those are always fun to find. I have found on those coins that the date is typically always missing but at least you know a date range so you can know more about the site that you are digging. Thank you for tuning in to check out the video and good luck with any hunts that you have coming up

Don’t beat yourself up for not getting the equinox, with any machine that you have you can be very successful. The biggest thing about it is getting that coil over top of the target that you want to find. Just get out with whatever machine you’re operating right now and keep swinging and good stuff will come out of it and you will be successful.

      Someone that I know which lives in the Northeast has a place that they can go to and test drive any machine, they can even take it home for a couple days before they buy it. I wish they were more dealers like that around, it would save a lot of people a lot of money as well as headaches. I would like to try out one of those machines someday but they paid $1200 just to try it is hard for me to do. The Deus Is a proven machine and there are thousands of people that love it, I feel like I’m missing something by not having one. Maybe someday I’ll try to get one. Kenny, I hunt with a Fisher F-5 and I dig with a serrated right edged Fiskars tool much like a Lesche (sp). When I bought it, it had that exact notch In the tip that you mentioned. I found it too difficult to dig with so I modified it by grinding it away and giving It a sharp rounded tip. Keep the great vids coming, I look forward to them weekly!

      Thank you for the info and I didn’t know that there was a digging tool out there already with the notch. I might try putting a hook tight notch on the side of my digger and see how that works. I can see just like you explained that having the notch at the tip would make digging somewhat hard. I like fisher machines And have always had an interest to purchase one and start using it. If you look at the video Vanquish part 3 it shows the control panel face (that is the whole video). It has the frequency symbol for multi Freq. So it must be a multi freq machine. I will be curious to see more details about freqs, and how it compares to the Equinox. Great video.

    I am and old detectorist and used a Whites 5900 Di Pro Plus which was top of the line at the time. I am looking at getting back into the hobby and have looked at the Minelab Equinox 800 or else the Whites MXT All Pro and I am split over which one to get. Naturally, I am partial to Whites but numerous folks suggested to go with the Minelab instead saying it's a much better detector. Since you have real world experience with both, what would be your suggestion? Thanks.

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have been Metal Detecting since I was 16 years old and now I am 39. The first metal detector I bought was a White’s As well as every metal detector I bought after that one until about six months ago I bought a Minelab. I Used the XLT until I purchase the V3i As well as the sport, I had success with both of those machines but for some reason I wanted to try the equinox. Once I actually did I couldn’t believe the difference in the enjoyment level when I was out detecting. It seems like most of my sites came alive with all kinds of tones and signals which led to great finds. I know that this is a public comment but until whites does something a little different then repackaging the same thing over and over and over again I probably won’t buy another one of their machines. They act like making a metal detector waterproof is space Age technology where the other manufacturers have that in a base design feature. I know that everyone says that the V3i has the best processor ever made by man but in my opinion the equinox kind of walks all over it, it’s lightning fast and I don’t even have to set 15 settings absolutely correct to have it lightning fast. I was always told that I set my V3i up wrong But I spent countless hours on the whites electronics forum, Studying the user manual and the advanced user manual, talking with friends online as well as sharing thoughts with other V3i Users to get the best performance. I drew a lot of conclusions on my own pertaining to the soil types that I was in in my area and got proficient at using my machine. After owning that machine for so many years I learned a lot about how metal detectors work snd the settings which has helped me. But, when I change to the equinox I found that not having to deal with all those settings and feeling like I set something up wrong on a hunt and missed all kinds of items, the hunt was much more enjoyable. I actually feel like I find many more interesting and valuable items now and when I leave a sight I don’t question myself on my settings, which makes a world of difference in enjoying the hobby

      @@squarenailsquirrel9638 Thank you for your real world honest opinion. You helped me make a final decision as to which one I will purchase and it will be the Equinox! You were just the person I was looking for when I came across your videos who had experience with both brands. I know that Minelab has been building solid detectors for years! Back when the GPAA was doing their shows on the Outdoor channel, they often used Minelab detectors while gold prospecting. I won't be doing much of that as I live in the desert southwest of West Texas. All of my detecting has been and will be coin and relic hunting. Thanks again for your response and suggestion. Yes I change into single frequency quite a bit to test and see which actual frequency is being affected by EM I. I also check on Questionable targets which frequency is actually reading the best to make a better judgment on what the target might be. I have noticed that the 40 kHz does good on very small gold targets and rings out ultra loud on nickels and low conductors.

      No I am not sure that it is a single frequency machine. The vanquish seems to be very elusive and mysterious with all the ads that I have seen. I bought my equinox about six months ago and it was already updated with the new firmware. The charging cable that you have which has a USB end on it is how you connected to your computer to do the update. Beyond that, I don’t know much more about doing the update. I feel that the update is important because of the coins on edge affect and not being able to locate them. I am still fairly new to the equinox with only about 60 hours of use on the machine, maybe more or less than that but somewhere near that many. Try to research what the firmware update actually did to help the machine to help you decide if it is the right choice for you or not, but from what I know I think it would be a good idea To update.

I just pick the one that’s the quietest and run with it and it seems to do good but the machine does act differently. I’m so used to running the V3i that when faced with EMI issues I just have to turn the machine down very low, I need to start remembering that I have a Minelab now. 🙂
      I haven’t been hunting as much as I usually do either, it’s hot in the ground is dry. I just scored a really good site to metal detect, So I might get out a couple times after work this week because this week and I’m going to Pennsylvania to Metal Detect. Maybe in the fall you and I can hook up and go somewhere to detect, I’m hoping to have quite a few fields to hunt this winter. I hope all is well and don’t work too hard

    What is the type tool pouch you use? Looking to get an all in one pouch. Great video and love your channel.

    Are you still going to Pound The Ground Adirondack Coast? If so I can't wait to meet you. Can I add your channel to the list of TH-cam channels attending the event in my Sunday video?

    Good evening great finds I enjoy watching your videos, yet I got some anxieties and I guess because I want to go hunting I do notice that you use Equinox and also the MX sport I'm looking to buy the MX sport because I can go underwater and I'm running out of land spots, in your honest opinion would you recommend it. I use a White's MXT E series, and I've been hunting for about 30 years. I really appreciate the time thanks again Marc
