Jhun Alexander Ferrer, also known by his stage name Newkid, is a Swedish-Filipino singer and rapper.
Marie Helen Sjöholm is a Swedish singer, actress and musical theatre performer who lives in Gamla Enskede in Stockholm. She grew up in Sundsvall and started to sing in choirs at an early age, working, among others, with Swedish conductor Kjell Lönnå. By the end of the 1980s she toured with the group "Just for Fun".
"You Have to Be There" (Swedish: Du måste finnas) is a song from the 1995 musical Kristina från Duvemåla, written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, originally performed by Helen Sjöholm. The lyrics are sung by the lead character Kristina, where she doubts her faith in God after her miscarriage.

Helen Sjöholm sings her song in a musical and her song is the main song, and she need to be express all feelings soo they are recognized by the audience. New Kid sings his version direct to his mum, you don’t need to express yourself the same way then. BOTH versions is perfect in their context

I think he said he sang this song as an appreciation for his mom, while Helen sang it from desperation for God in a musical. So I think it's all natural that he doesn't have the same "feeling" as Helen. I think this is a good rendition.

He sang absolutely beautifully and did it very well, but lacked that real true emotion that Helen had. You didn't see that he actually meant what he sang, while Helen really felt she meant it.

I would say Newkid has transitioned much more into pop as of the last years, releasing a hip-hop songs every now and then. 10 years ago he was much more hip-hop and less pop, but now it is the other way around. I do not think any of the songs showcased in this video is rap. Listen to samma gäri by Newkid if you want to hear him rap.

I have watched the show “Så mycket bättre” for a long time and at one point the artists called Petter and September participated. Petter is a rapper and has a song called “Mikrofonkåt” (eng. Horny for a Microphone) so maybe you could listen to his original and then the version of it that September performed in front of him at the table? I enjoyed it for sure 👍🏻 September is more of a disco artist and she makes great dance music!!
