To be fair, Celine is a diva who don't want to share the spotlight and Tommy was obviously teasing her (or "provoking with love" - also; hence the surprise rose) If the intention were to outshine her, he wouldn't kept going (and that would've been childish and silly), but instead he toned it down again, underlining in was all in good fun.
