@@marcusfridh8489 I think the problems came from alot of people arriving rapidly and overwhelming the system so that they weren't integrated properly, which is a shame. If we accept people into our country we should also be prepared to integrate them. Now violent crime is on the rise and many blame immigration for it.
Most people I speak with are still positive about it though, and I have many friends at my job and in private who are not Swedish. One work colleague I remember especially was a guy from Syria who came here, found love and started a family. the kindest, nicest guy I ever met.

The same food on every holiday is sort of true but not totally true, it can differ but will be served in similar or in the same way as tend to have common food on the table, like it will be potatoes and herring because that is what a typical smörgårdsbord looks like, it will include the same type of drinks, the same type of liquor no matter what smörgårdsbord it is and we always sing a little fun song before drinking our strong liquor, that is what happens when having a traditional smörgårdsbord as the smörgårdsbord is a tradition in itself and it will be a thing for every holyday. It will involve herring, hard bread with probably some strong swedish cheese on and potatos no matter what holyday but what we celebrate will differ. Also the rest of the food on our table outside the typical food will be the main dish that does show the differece of celebration. So it's the warm food and then theres and cold food. The cold food usually stays the same and the warm food is what differs the most.
Like on christmas it will be served prince sausages, home made meatballs, Janssons frästelse and christmas ham with mustard on. It's normal to have white rice porrage with cinnamon and milk due to the fact that we believed in small creatures called "Hus tomte" later called "Jultomte", that is mixed up for Santa now days as we are getting more Americanized, but the original Tomte not Santa is a different magical creature that looks like a very small person and who is 10 times as strong as a human so this creature would want rice porrage and beer at christmas day and we give this Tomte this porrage and add butter in it too to make sure we get this creature on a good mood and also as a thank you for helping taking care of the house hold and feeding our animals. Well we believed this creature did our job lol but we also believed that this creature would hit us hard in the face if we did not do our job right at the house hold.
During Midsummer we will go for a lot more fish than usual and be more creative with our potato dishes as me could go for a potato salad and other fish dishes than just herring, like eating shrimps or salmon. Summer is for cold food mostly and way less intended for warm food, I believe less meat too aswell, so no prince sausage, no Janssons frästelse either as that is a potato dish only for the christmas), I think meatballs is also more for christmas, so midsummer is mostly just fish and potatoes and hardbread, maybe a different type of meat would be a thing, usually grilled meat as it's during the summer. For liquor it's traditionally Akvavit (Aqvavit), Absolut Vodka and beer typically for any smörgårdsbord.
In another holyday we only eat crayfish and nothing else. It's crayfish party and the drink is just strong liquor. We Eat crayfish and celebrate the crayfish just for the fact that it's a good season for crayfish and that is it. It's kind of dark during that time so it's common to lit lanterns and light candles, some even put on stupid crayfish hats on just to look extra silly.
Lucia is also a fun little tradition during winter so go check that one out.
Other traditional and common everyday dishes in Sweden would be like Pyttipanna, is a left over dish made of diced meat, potatoes, chopped onion, fried eggs layed over and sliced beets on the side. On thursdays it's tradition to eat pancakes and peasoup, so even if it's not eaten at home it will be served in schools and at restaurantes. The swedish Taco is also a thing but not as old, that one is eaten on Fridays.
Potatos is the most basic food we have in Sweden and is eaten in any season, all the year around. It's what rice is for the asians. It's the sort of food that we survived on during the poor and famine days.

  • @WhadifuzAlottanois
    @WhadifuzAlottanois 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Peasoup and pancakes is from the military: Serve it on thursdays. Candy on Saturdays we all grew up with. Semla is available between like late, late december through March. It is actually a "fettisbulle", and to be served 47 days before Easter. And yes it is a religious habit. A Semla/Fastlagsbulle/Fettisbulle is to be eaten just before the fasting begins... Almost everything is the same on Swedish buffés on holidays, and that is why I don't eat it. I spend the money on something really goooood for me and my son instead.

Yeah, Zara is one of those people who will say one smart thing and then two-three dumb ones.
She's not a swedish pride by any means. She became a real diva and snobbish really fast and have been shit talking sweden on more than one occasion.
The last thing i remember her saying was how she feels she has thr right to talk and scream during a movie at the cinema and that if you don't like it YOU should go home.
She has repeatedly said she "Hates men" so there's that...mind you, I'm not talking about hating "toxic masculinity"(which she has Also said she hates, and as do I, so no issues with That particular statement, but if any man said he generally "Hates women" you know damn well that wouldn't be celebrated or even accepted.)
She will take any opportunity she gets to throw sweden under the buss - she's essentially countries "pick me girl"
I saw someone else comment "incel" becasue he criticised her, to which I will preemptively say, no I'm not, we have several swedish artists I absolutely adore, Like for instance, Robyn, Loreen and my favourite, Molly Sandén(whom I'm extra proud over, as she turned hollywood down when they said she had to lose weight)

If she were American she would probably spell her last name Larson. For some reason Americans can't handle a double s in a last name…
Most, if not all, those s-son last names origin from Sweden (in Denmark and Norway ”sen” is a more common ending, Larsen etc). A lot of Swedes emigrated from here (Sweden) to America in the 1800s and early 1900s, and some changed their names slightly to better fit into their new social environment, like skipping an s in Andersson or make their names sound more American, like Svensson becoming Swanson or Berggren becoming Bergeron.
Anyway, Larsson with ”ss” should give it away, so yes, she's Swedish.
    Edit:
I believe that last names ending with ”sson” are also somewhat common in some parts of Finland, and I guess that's the parts where they speak Swedish. Correct me if I'm wrong. 👍

Those seasonal traditional semlas was a big thing in Sweden until now but it's changing, nowadays you can buy these all year around at some places and they change sizes and recipe after mood as well so the traditional semla is partly dying or outcompeted by new fabrications, but you should really try the original semla, it's my absolute favourite and I only eat 1 or two each year and that's why I never get tired of it as many swedes have because they eat so many.

That's what people in Stockholm say about people in the rest of Sweden. I heard one of them complain about a TV celebrity from our biggest island Gotland. Yes, their dialect is like nothing else in Sweden, but her accent was very mild. The complaining Stockholm person said something like ”can anyone understand anything of what she says?” People in Stockholm are the only ones that can't understand any other dialects than their own, I think.
I don't think the English spoken in this video is particularly hard to understand, but yes, some accents are easier to understand than others.

@@stefannylander7642 I know. I just drew a parallel to Swedish dialects (because I'm Swedish myself), that was all it was.
