    "In many cities across Asia, there's simply not enough room for a desk and a PC in the small apartments people live in."
    This is only partially correct, there is another bigger factor though, and that is the stigmatization of video games in countries like China, Korea and sometimes Japan. Many Chinese and Korean youths actually go to internet cafes in secrecy and lie to their parents in fear of being stigmatized as a 'disgusting lazy nerd'. Tiger parenting is a real thing in Asia, and hundreds of thousands of Asian youths commit suicide every year because of this pressure. It's unfortunate right now to be a gamer in Asia, but I think it will change in the future, whether in 10 years or in 100 years.

      The shift is happening faster than we think, when I was in Korea a few years back, I met tons of kids who had the opposite problem. Parents who see or understand the eSports boom and are pressuring their kids to do well in games AS WELL as school now >< It's slowly happening now in China too apparently. And I think Peons point holds truer for SEA than as I like to call it Asia Major.

      Yeah Peon you're the only creator I've seen who feels bad about having sponsorships. Its literally just something all creators who want to live off their channel HAVE to do. Adsense just doesn't pay most peoples bills anymore. You have bills, you need food, like anyone who argues you shouldn't do sponsorships is just an unrealistic asshole so ignore them like all the other trolls. Theres zero reason to feel bad about needing money to live when almost every society is capitalist. Like its in the name of the economic type: capital...you need capital...stop feeling bad about sponsors lol. I think when creators apologize for something normal (like having sponsors) they don't realize they're perpetuating the stigma themselves & making it worse. Dont cowtow & apologize to wrong assholes unless you want them to think they're right & there's a reason to apologize, which there isn't a reason to apologize.

    For me the best one will alway be Dofus Touch, which is a turn based MMORPG with classes and player driven economy. It's mostly played by French I think but there is a ton of depth in the combat
    The cash shop isn't p2w because it's using a subscription (that you can really easily buy with in game cash after a couple of weeks of play). It's a bit hard to progress when playing 100% solo but there is still a ton of things to do either as a casual or a hardcore player

    Here is an idea for a game from a book i am writing.
    MMORPG with lots of PVE and PVP, different classes and loads of class customization. A completely free game with absolute no P2W or convenience items. No EXP potions, no crafting bonuses, none of that. However, it would have three monetization options each with different return-on-investment rates:
    1) Low investment - Low return rate. Players in game would be able to build their houses, their guild halls and even castles. These buildings would have basic decorations, but more advanced decorations would cost real money. Players in game could buy an ingame-mini-game (more on that later) and design their own decorations. Other players would be able to buy a decoration you designed and thus a small part of money they spend would be granted to you (preferably premium currency over real money, but hey, making real money wouldn't be that bad). This would mean that players would generate decorations and players would buy decoration, and the company would just take its cut from money transaction;
    2) Medium investment - medium return rate. A company itself would design cosmetic items for alternative skill cinematics (example: instead or raising zombies you will raise mummies; example: instead of shooting blue lightning you will shoot red lightning; example: instead of transforming into a bear you will transform into tiger). Like Path of Exile, this would offer only cosmetic effects to players, but it could generate a bit of income;
    3) High investment - high return. Main source of income would be inhame-mini-games. These mini games would be completely optional and wouldn't affect your MMORPG play, but they would offer loads of alternative fun. Here are few examples:
    A mini racing games
    A mini shooter game
    A mini card game
    A mini decoration creating game
    An alternative mini racing game
    Etc.
    With this typo of monetization it would be easy to produce at least a single mini game every two months and generate revenue to maintain whole game itself. But most importantly, it would offer loads of alternative activities within the game for player who get tired/bored of plain pvp/pve: just pay 5$ to unlock this cart-racing mini game and watch your character blaze across a dirt road whne racing against other players.

    I'm at a point in my life where eventhough my pc can run most modern games, I'm too tired from work that I just want to be entertained.
    Games - even mobile games- that I play now don't require much effort to play.
    I love my time with WoW back then and have always craved to get that feeling back. Genshin did that for me initially, but even that became too much for me.
    So casual mobile games have been good to me. Mostly. I'm kinda glad that it's around.

    Check out Shadow, it is a streaming PC you can play any game you own on basically the highest settings on basically any device for an affordable fee as long as you have decent internet. Can use it for any PC applications as well. Tech like this will likely drive the cost of high end PCs in the future. What a time we live in.

It would never replace the PC version but being able to still continue your progress while away from your computer is extremely appealing.

    Check out Legends of Idleon made by one person and it isn't pay to win. It's actually free and plays a lot like Maplestory. You can put down 20 dollars and it will instantly give you enough gems for end-game but you don't really need it since you can also earn gems inside the arena.

  • @Yeest540
    @Yeest540 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think a companion app for an MMorpg can be very convenient for people who don't have as much time to sit down for hours at a time to play. The way I'd think about is giving access to resource management if you have some sort of worker/expedition system that can help those players still obtain some sort of gains/progression with the limited time they have. Perhaps little minigames/puzzles (both main and mobile) can be a part of limited time events to give them additional things to play without being totally left behind.
    That being said if sponsorships allow you to have a better life Peon it's fine by me. I believe in your integrity and the integrity of your channel having been following you for a few years.

    I've been asking for a mobile companion app for GW2 for a while now, crafting can take HOURS when you are deep in the game, and it would be nice to be able to have it running on my phone instead of my PC eating up power when I have to craft throughout the whole night.

    For me honestly, I like Mobile games that lets you crossplay between platforms or almost resembles the PC version like Wild Rift or Call of Duty. If they keep doing that in the future then I might actually like mobile gaming, as long as they don't fuck it up with P2W mechanics.

    Not sure if you've ever come across the title -and to be fair, it's not an MMORPG - but I'm wondering what your thoughts would be for the game "Exiled Kingdoms"
    It's the best game I've ever played on mobile. It's also a one-time payment for the full game, which was created by one guy. There's no multiplayer, but the vibrant community (with its dedicated Wiki page) makes the game even more engaging.

    I got a basic solar set up so I actually use mobile since it allows my solar powered battery to have a higher input than I'm outputting to charge my phone lol.
    The only three games I mainly play on mobile (since I ran out of internal storage for anything extra) is BanG! Dream, OSRS, and Terraria.
    Things like the Tap Strap 2 and the NexDock/PhoneBook also exists if I want to ignore the touch screens entirely.
    The third reason being is that laptops annoy me with how awkwardly low their battery endurance is.
    I'm currently looking into getting a LG V60 which basically lasts nearly 2 days with heavy use since I prioritize portability with high battery life.
    Though when I do get a higher powered solar set up, 100% I'd go back to PC. At least when I'm at home. The commute to and from the ladder is pretty lengthy 😅
    Might save up for a GPD Win Max but until then, looks like I'm going mobile for awhile.

And the UI used to be the same as the PC UI but they already changed that. I recommend this one. Btw it's cross-platform

And not to mention that both games are extremely fun (IDV is more competitive while Sky is more casual and calming) and have cute graphics.

    Also a huge point for mobile gaming to be so popular in the asia country is partly due to the long commute time and how busy their life could be. Sometimes after work, no one would want to turn on their PC and to boot up the game to play if they have the option to just flip out their phone and game on it. Commute time in asia countries can take up a majority portion of the day too and while commuting, their only entertainment is their phone.
