It’s a very capable bike. I’ve toured on my 1290 EVO with a small windscreen and the KTM saddle and tail bags in surprising comfort. In cooler weather I throw the hand guards on, and use the heated grips. It’s an awesome bike.
I love my 1390. You are right about the wobbly reservoirs. The clutch fluid gets so aerated I am surprised it still works.... but it does. I can't stand keyless ignitions either. But the only real gripe I have with the bike is the switch gear pods need to be relocated inboard 5-10mm. I am constantly triggering the switches while riding without even knowing I did so. Hitting the hi-beams, going into the menus, changing the traction control settings, etc. Super annoying.
Ahh interesting! I didn't notice that on the 1390 but I did it for months on my Super Adventure haha. I guess it's something you get used to but it's very common when wearing thick winter gloves!
Just bought a new 1290SAS. Good discount from ktm. After break in period i rode 600miles in a day continuously. 10 hours+ without any problems (ofc new bike) but i hope people will give ktm a try instead of keeping horror stories alive.
The horror stories seem to be kept alive by people who have never owned a KTM.. and it's always a mate of a mate who had a KTM in 2005 and it was awful 😂
I’ve had 3 since 2017 and only had a few minor niggles and never had an issue with the few warranty claims I made, including a couple out of warranty where KTM covered the cost of the parts
The horror stories are based on truth, my man. I had 3 (modern) KTM's so far and every single one had multiple problems per year. First was a 2013 690 Duke, engine blew up at right around 20.000km, fixed it for a ton of money, tank ruptured shortly after. After 6 years of owning it, it already had the 4th cooling radiator on it, the three previous ones all sprung a leak every other year. Next was the 2019 790 Duke. Engine was leaking oil from multiple spots right away. The screen cracked into a million pieces overnight for no reason, BEHIND the protective glass. After replacing it (warranty) the quickshifter would no longer work. Was sick of it after 2 years and got the 2021 1290 SDR. What a can of worms I opened with my current bike. Multiple recalls because of wiring issues, front suspension leaked at the adjustment knobs, the button for cruise control randomly flew off one day, the slave cylinder for the hydraulic clutch was shot after not even a year, battery and fuel pump died shortly after and now my front brakes randomly stopped working. This will be the last KTM I ever own, I'm sick of it. Oh and the clutch slave cylinder is malfunctioning again.
After a string of Fireblades and then the 1199 Panigale, I moved to a Gen 1 Superduke R, I now have the Gen 3 Superduke R (which until recently was the best bike for an over 50 ex Superbike rider). When this one gets a little older I'll move on to the 1390 Superduke. For me it's the best "only bike" in the world!!

As I said in a prior vid - amazed at the comfort. I'd definitely need to test it for wrist pain that I've had on prior bikes (gone in the 1290 SAS). But it does tickle the chubby and that's important!
Haha the chubby tickle is the key! I didn't find any wrist pain at all which was great. It was leant forward but the Tuono makes this look like a goldwing!
I m loving my 1390 since day 1. I rotate the brake and clutch levers down so didn’t have the issue. Yes the front brake master reservoir are so rattling that’s annoying during rides. Hope there’s a aftermarket bracket that’s more firmer.
I'm the same at petrol stations. I begrudge being made to get off the bike, but I will, but if they want me to take off the helmet, I'll go elsewhere. There's a Morrison's garage that did it to me in 2021 when FACE MASKS were still mandatory in shops! Looking forward to seeing the KTM stand at the NEC next month, really want to see the new line up
