    My father taught me, if you borrow something give it back in the same or better condition or they won't let you borrow anything again.
    Cleaning up and a tank of fuel keeps you on their preferred list for press bikes.

    It’s a very capable bike. I’ve toured on my 1290 EVO with a small windscreen and the KTM saddle and tail bags in surprising comfort. In cooler weather I throw the hand guards on, and use the heated grips. It’s an awesome bike.

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a good idea! Didn't think about handguards on it but i bet it wouldn't look too weird with some slim barkbusters or something

      @@SamVBikes Mine were right from the Power Parts catalogue, common with the GT. 5 minutes to change them over with one mount on the bar end.

    I love my 1390. You are right about the wobbly reservoirs. The clutch fluid gets so aerated I am surprised it still works.... but it does. I can't stand keyless ignitions either. But the only real gripe I have with the bike is the switch gear pods need to be relocated inboard 5-10mm. I am constantly triggering the switches while riding without even knowing I did so. Hitting the hi-beams, going into the menus, changing the traction control settings, etc. Super annoying.

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ahh interesting! I didn't notice that on the 1390 but I did it for months on my Super Adventure haha. I guess it's something you get used to but it's very common when wearing thick winter gloves!

    Just bought a new 1290SAS. Good discount from ktm. After break in period i rode 600miles in a day continuously. 10 hours+ without any problems (ofc new bike) but i hope people will give ktm a try instead of keeping horror stories alive.

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The horror stories seem to be kept alive by people who have never owned a KTM.. and it's always a mate of a mate who had a KTM in 2005 and it was awful 😂

    • @cport955
      @cport955 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve had 3 since 2017 and only had a few minor niggles and never had an issue with the few warranty claims I made, including a couple out of warranty where KTM covered the cost of the parts

    • @arcuz7862
      @arcuz7862 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The horror stories are based on truth, my man. I had 3 (modern) KTM's so far and every single one had multiple problems per year.
      First was a 2013 690 Duke, engine blew up at right around 20.000km, fixed it for a ton of money, tank ruptured shortly after. After 6 years of owning it, it already had the 4th cooling radiator on it, the three previous ones all sprung a leak every other year.
      Next was the 2019 790 Duke. Engine was leaking oil from multiple spots right away. The screen cracked into a million pieces overnight for no reason, BEHIND the protective glass. After replacing it (warranty) the quickshifter would no longer work. Was sick of it after 2 years and got the 2021 1290 SDR.
      What a can of worms I opened with my current bike. Multiple recalls because of wiring issues, front suspension leaked at the adjustment knobs, the button for cruise control randomly flew off one day, the slave cylinder for the hydraulic clutch was shot after not even a year, battery and fuel pump died shortly after and now my front brakes randomly stopped working. This will be the last KTM I ever own, I'm sick of it. Oh and the clutch slave cylinder is malfunctioning again.

      @Nyez 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @arcuz7862 sad to hear mate. That really sucks. The slave cilinder is indeed very bad om lc8 engines. Preventive swap for a Oberon is a must

    After a string of Fireblades and then the 1199 Panigale, I moved to a Gen 1 Superduke R, I now have the Gen 3 Superduke R (which until recently was the best bike for an over 50 ex Superbike rider).

    Yes KTM takes the monkey with their paying options. And yes again it may not be as sharp as a Tuono or a Streetfighter but it does everything almost perfectly. Its interesting you mentioned about the headlight not being seen very well by other road users. Its something I notice a lot with the old gen 3 (wasp face) headlight. I think its something to do with the shape. I get way more people pulling out into my path on this than I did on the round headlight bike I had before. Its not a speed thing because I go past the same junctions at the same speed I always do on any bike.

    Sam, with either this bike or the 1390 Evo, did you run into any 'electrical gremlin' issues on either bike? I hear alot of people complain about the electrical issues with that bike. For me, it's a toss up between the Evo and the Rocket 3R Storm Edition...

    • @SamVBikes
      @SamVBikes  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The electrical gremlins are literally just the odd warning coming up on screen if you don't let it do it's cycle before starting up etc. People massively over exaggerate problems with KTMs which is soo annoying. None of the errors you would get stop you riding the bike. The only warning I got on this was when I stalled it in gear and restarted without pulling the clutch in. I've also done 50k miles on my 2021 super adventure with basically nothing wrong. If the bike makes you smile, sod what others say!

      Normally yes, but only if I'm paying for fuel etc. I wouldn't if I was spending any length of time in there

    6:44 He thought adventure bikes are the only thing you can actually be comfortable on on a trip. I've been touring Europe on naked bikes since 1979. First time camping through Germany, Switzerland and France to Monaco and back with my girlfriend riding pilion. Now I'm 66 and only went on a 14 day camping trip to Harz this summer because of the rain - on a naked bike of course. I find adventure bikes unnecessarily heavy.

      Never said it was the only thing you could do it on, but today's market, people seem to think you can't do it easily unless you have an adventure bike. I've been camping on my Honda Monkey 125 as well, but it wasn't exactly easy to do it

    Mechanical or electric suspension?

      @SamVBikes  หลายเดือนก่อน

      This one is mechanical. The electronic is great but not sure it's necessary

      @SamVBikes The new SAS looks like a face lift, not a massive update. It will make a difference on those long days when it's been pissing down and you're 200 miles into a ride though!

      Yeah interested in seeing the full spec on it. Think the release is in a few days time. Quite like the new TFT etc too

    Don't bikes use running-in oil? Lasts 600 m so KTM may be more pissed off about that?

      The bike has had its first service which was done before I picked it up. They changed it knowing I was going to be doing a bit trip on the bike
