The solo on hate to feel is probably one of the coolest that he has ever created

I'm _really_ late to the whole grunge/AIC train. Like...30 years late. 🙄 But I've been trying to make up for lost time, immersing myself in everything AIC (and others) for the last couple of months. So when I hear that BD, DT or BGWTB came out 10, 15, 20 years ago, it about blows my mind. It all sounds so fresh and "new" to me; yet when I read Jerry's lyrics, OMG. The rage, anger, vitriol, and utter sadness and defeated-ness he spews out post-Layne (and _about_ Layne) is beyond anything I've ever heard or read. Sorry I'm blathering (none of my friends understand my passion for AIC!), but I'm very excited that I'm going to see Jerry live (all by my lonesome, even) in a couple of weeks. I'm kicking myself for missing them 30 years ago (even though they came through town more than once), so I can't imagine not seeing seeing such an extraordinary musician--and all around great guy--like Jerry Cantrell. He was definitely blessed with a wonderful, natural, God-given musical gift, for sure! 💓

“I’m not that good” I nearly died. He’s better than he realizes.

Cantrell is a RIFF MASTER... all AIC songs are very riff n groove heavy songs and that what i love about there music. As a guitar palyer myself for me its all about the riff n the groove... solo is about the last thing im thinkin about. Id dont give 2 rips abput how fast you can shred.. or how fast you can rip through a scale or how many ya know, big fkin deal can it make me feel something? Thats what counts... if it moves me inside.

The Seattle sound? No.... Alice in chains wasnt grunge... it wasnt a seattle sound, it is and was hard solid fkin rock n roll.
