A tip for anima book levequests. If the one you need is not available, take 2-3 others and do the leve, but don't turn it in. There's a good chance that it will be required for a later book. When it does become required, you can simply equip your relic and turn in the quest for an easy check off.
Yeah, I took up the leves I needed for all the books early on. But you can only pick up 16 and you will need 27, including repeats, so it's a bit iffy.

the books are nothing comparedd to the light . . .since i loot only gentle ones. . .even in extreme primordil fight, . .it will take a long tiem for colelcting the 2000 required.
2 mins 40 seconds per run if you have the lvls and the gear for it XD I haven't timed my runs, but I can get through pretty handily! Still, best option so far.
I just want to point out that it only gives 96 light if it's in bonus. Still, it's faster than Tam-Tara, so unless Tam-Tara is in bonus then it's better.
Tips when doing books: 1) Try to plan your orders of locations, look for all monsters, fates and leves in the same area before moving to next one, saving teleportation time/gil and running back and forth. 2) GC levequests NPCs give only two out of three available quest for each GC, so you have one-third chance not seeing it. To save your allowances, google the quest name and see which GC the quest belongs to, grab one of the two quests, finish it without turning in, you'll see the one you need right after. (So you don't end up being stuck with 0 allowances like me) 3) The fates are a random factor, but not completely uncontrollable. And since there's a limited number of fates in the same area, you can try to do other fates nearby to refresh the generation. You may also try to kill the mobs nearby to trigger its spawn, it can be a placebo but it always worked for me. I NEVER waited one fate for more than half an hour, in contrast to a few hours, as other claimed.
2 year old advice but it’s still sound. Idk why I see some players just floating around waiting for FATEs when they can just do the others in the area to speed things up. And yea I never spent more than 30 min over a FATE cept for one in Southern Thanalan..fucking thing just wouldn’t spawn.
important note: the Light and Resonance steps are made MUCH easier now thanks to Alliance Roulette. Manually queue for both Syrcus Tower and World of Darkness, as both of these raids give the highest gain of Light/Resonance and queues are fast enough all day every day
This is DEFINITELY what I needed. Been putting off working on other Zodiac Weapons but after now lvl60 all crafting jobs, I'm more or less independent on the crafting part of all these quests. I'll going to recommend this video who also in the same boat as me to start all over this arduous Glamour Journey :-3

These relic quests are just a great way to spend your time. Sure it is grindy, but you should have already known that before signing up for the journey. And that's what it is, a journey. Embrace it, enjoy it. It's not about obtaining an inferior weapon. It's about enjoying the game's content, helping others while doing so, and obtaining one of the most gorgeous weapons you can get your hands on. Go get them zetas people!
GOD HOUR basically the whole part. The Atma farming, the book, the dungeon quest(keeps going and going) ??melding and lastly the light farming. I am defeated after finishing my first one even in 5.1. I wonder how people do it back then.
I watched this video from right after I finished the atma FATE farm, took me about 3-4 days to get to the end. The early steps + novus were a grind fest, but later I spent like 1.5m Gil (4 quests part). All in all, honestly go for it, if you spend 10 minutes every day towards tlgetting the zeta you'll get it within a month
Even then, 3-4 days I spent like 3-4 hours everyday without being efficient, so if you're efficient cut down some time. I'd recommend it, especially after the blade weapons (was eh)
Something I'd like to mention is, you can repurchase any step of the relic from a Calamity Salvager with the exception of zenith weapon. To get zenith weapon, repurchase it, then buy the mist from Mor Dhona and apply it like before. If you're afraid of the glamour police like me, then you can glamour the zenith over the atma while you do your books.
"newly added melder npcs" as someone who started playing in ShB this sentence frightened me. Sure glad to be working on this at the same time as half the data center, too, those HQ items & materia are *obscenely* expensive, all the red tier 1 materia are easily 2k apiece, even yellow stuff is 200-400 apiece. To say absolutely nothing of trying to get to FATEs & the sheer number of people running leves, you'd think it was a fresh relic step with how busy it is. And I'm not sure why someone thinks anyone would buy a stack of 24 Perfect Firewood (HQ) for a combined total of 600k but that's a thing, my sincerest condolences to any poor sprouts without crafters leveled cause even with most of my crafters capped it's still a pain in the ass.
Vince it was a slow and painful process. It is easier than doing Anima weapons, but this one requires you to do more work. Overall I didn’t mind it. It did keep me busy and at the end of the day I thought it was worth it tbh. Overall it was alright. There’s just a lot of farming items . I wouldn’t do it again ._. Never.
As of 4.5, this whole process only took me about 15 hours to do from start to finish on whm grinding all light during bonus windows except about 4-5 runs where I had to find the bonus dungeons. So without bonus windows and maybe doing some of the spirit bonding for materia for the scroll phase, I'd estimate 20 hours tops. Edit: I had done the original relic quests for all jobs way back in 2.x so I already had the base weapon and started from the zenith upgrade part after buying back the weapon from the calamity salvager.
so 9 books took you according to this around 1 1/2 hour max? Would love to know how to run 27 dungeons do 27 fates 27 of anything in this time please share
@@2qrank I got really luck on the fates and they were almost always up and if they weren't, all I did was run the required dungeons during the fate downtime and it was usually up by the time I ran one dungeon, so I wasn't sitting around wasting extra time. Only had to run all 3 dungeons once while waiting on the last fate I needed to pop. I would always teleport to each area of each fate first and check if any were up before doing anything else. If one was up they seem to pop in succession of each other and you just get those out of the way first. If one or two fates are up but the last one isn't, just do the dungeons during that downtime. Dungeon runs take like 5-7 minutes, mobs take 10 minutes tops, leves take like 5 minutes total and the fates take a couple minutes each to run to and kill. Add in the travel time and zoning and it takes roughly and hour, sometimes a bit more.
“I would not recommend leveling crafting” but but I can’t afford the prices on MB! I have no other choice…it’s either leveling them all up..or fanta into a catgirl and..do stuff…
Maarit Salkosuo it is so much quicker now and at lvl 70, the only challenge will be the patience on those elusive fates. the cool thing about is after you complete the zodiac brave stage the first time, your subsequent relic grinding will go so much quicker because you can work on the repeatable item quests at the same time you work on animus book dungeons.
I'm so glad I finished all of the Lvl 50 relic weapons around 2 months ago :D It's an awesome feeling to know you have all of them and never need to do all of this again XD

Its because of this relic line requiring materia and newish people think oh if i get a 1 tier materia it will be cheaper but if you look at more expensive materia u can find it cheaper xD its fkn ridiculous. HEY also there is a way to get materia needed fast af, just get cheap armour to wear and spiritbond it and you will be good to go :D iv done this 3x and i guarentee your gil will thank you
Yesterday have been very lucky with FATEs pop but at the same time i'm out of allowances for levequests so that will gate me away from finishing atma->novus step for at least 1-2 more days in the best case! It surely feels like an enormous grind but if you really focus it's not that bad to burn through books objectives or light grinding.
I read in an ancient reddit post that you can do the quests to get the second-to-last step(requiring the four quests) done on any job, even Blue Mage, but can anyone confirm it? I wanna know as I can cheese Cuca Fera in Stone Vigil Hard by casting Doom on him. (Provided I spend my life in the Masked Carnivale since I don't have that yet.)
As someone who never finished the book stage of the original relic, it's interesting to see what the light farming was about and other aspects. Thankfully I'm much further along with the current Heavensward relic. Will you be doing a video for that once the expansion is done?
Oh well, now is a different story of course if I wanted. I should have stated in my original comment that "back when it was current", I didn't choose to grind it out enough that's all ;) But yeah now it's much easier to do.
4.0 ANIMUS step confirmed: for dungeon mark in each book, you can unsync solo or pt the dungeon, easier to zerg a dungeon with a Lv70 weapon and then destroy final boss with animus weapon. Make sure to equip Animus weapon before final boss
Me and some of my free company mates are pretty much done with the game and are just waiting for storm blood right now and I haven't even touch the old relics but man was I in for a surprise. I'm doing both the old and new 275 relic at this moment but man are they fun with party members doing it solo can be really boring at times. Everyone complaining bout the books, tbh, the books are the most chill thing ever in this Relic grind. I really can't stand the constant shit of not having any quest in my log that tells me what exactly to do and having to read and decipher what these people want from me. The potions? Do you mean the mists? Take them to Gerolt's Forge. There's a moogle there that, when spoken to, will tell you that he heard Gerolt muttering about upgrading your weapon at the forge with mists while deep in his cups (drunk, basically)
For the relic weapon to be useful you have to be up to date with the game and the relic weapon quests. And still it is really only an achievement to show off.
Just got to these books and thought I was near the end but nope lol. But I've already started, there's no getting off this train. Only thing worrying me is the 400K gil since I dunno how to farm that yet :P
I don’t know why but I can’t speak to Remon, I’ve done all of the steps fine up until now, have all the mats ready to upgrade to Zodiac weapon but he still says he won’t speak to me because it’s not the right time?!? It even game me a message in the log when I acquired the last mat to speak to Gerolt and the other man when I got the last one but neither of them have quests for me, wtf!?!?
Ah, now 3 years later and everything is cheaper. 3 inks are 25 poetics each and Mysterious maps are 75 poetics. So far I am on distinct for light (started yesterday) but mainly I was running WoD and Syrcus tower because they were giving blinding light. But they're much longer, I just enjoy healing that's all
“Hate from Fate grinding comes from the Atma step” Me, who just finished the step: it sure goddamn is. 50 fates without a drop on the lowest level. Never thought using just 2 skills would be so boring.

Thanks for the information provided. I just started to play the game a month ago. i am a level 56 black mage and i am working on this wepon. I am not at the book step. My question is , is this worth it? I will be able to use this wepon until end game or i will need to change it. and most important it will be shiny? :D As now it a bit shiny only when i pull it out :(
i forgot how painful it is to grind grind this weapons. remember the original zenith step when we had to grind 100+ brayflox hard?? xD oh and the original atma step when the odds where insane? or animus when special fates didn't spawn? good old times
Check your Zodiac Glass. I'm not sure how it shows the light, as I'm not there yet. afaik, it's the same as the Anima Glass, in that it'll show glyphs that'll glow brighter in sequence as you amass light/resonance.
Trials of the braves is easily the worst step. Maybe. If you don't have a lot of gil, the following steps can actually be impossible for poor players so RIP But yeah, doing those 9 books makes me want to die

This is a weapon item for glamour/vanity at this point. They are still great looking items with the best "glowy" particle effects in-game; (Also the lv60 Anima weapons from HW). The current-tier equivalent are the upgraded "Antiquated" weapons you receive at 70 and upgraded through Eureka.
I just re-subbed, and I'm on the light farming section on my PLD weapon. I was farming level 50 hard mode trials back at the start of Heavensward, checking Reddit for which ones had bonuses. What has changed? You say you can farm Sastasha, etc. but it also says "level 50 content". Do you mean Sastasha hard mode?
Going off the explanations alone it all seems really easy up to a certain point which is way further along than people would have you believe. To me, the real bullshit/annoying grind sounds like it starts at this step: 4:55 A lot of people say it starts to become bullshit and an annoying grind at the fate grinding part or the book part, but while they might take a fair bit of time, its by no means hard. I'd rather do both of those than farm rep from world quests in WoW at any rate lol, now THAT is tedious, bullshit and an annoying grind.

just a heads up solo running "The Aurum Vale" is the fastest way to get light now gives 96 light and took 2:40 mins per run

You can also get Alexandria by doing fates if you have your relic I believe, it's how I got 4 stacks of 99 before HW
Indeed you can! But keep in mind they are not guaranteed drops from FATEs, so you would have to farm them for quite some time!
Graehl Gaming true, but i know they did raise the drop rate when HW came out. But its not a viable way to get them

Why can't you finish the book stage? It's not hard, just lengthy. And depending on your class, you could solo plenty of the 50 dungeons required.

Oh well, now is a different story of course if I wanted. I should have stated in my original comment that "back when it was current", I didn't choose to grind it out enough that's all ;) But yeah now it's much easier to do.
4.0 ANIMUS step confirmed: for dungeon mark in each book, you can unsync solo or pt the dungeon, easier to zerg a dungeon with a Lv70 weapon and then destroy final boss with animus weapon. Make sure to equip Animus weapon before final boss

I'm doing both the old and new 275 relic at this moment but man are they fun with party members doing it solo can be really boring at times. Everyone complaining bout the books, tbh, the books are the most chill thing ever in this Relic grind. I really can't stand the constant shit of not having any quest in my log that tells me what exactly to do and having to read and decipher what these people want from me. Maybe I'm just completely retarded and can't understand basic things, I certainly feel that way after doing the relic...
can I ask why I can not get my atma weapon?i have the 12atma stones from the FATE.. But the Jalzahn head mark is still red.I got my first thyrus animus. then I stop the trials of the brave and now I discard it :( just want to get my next atma.I have this Sphairai Zenith weapon .want to make it ATMA. any suggetions.plss help
You need to unequip your weapon and select the 2nd option when taking to Jalzahn.

The potions? Do you mean the mists? Take them to Gerolt's Forge. There's a moogle there that, when spoken to, will tell you that he heard Gerolt muttering about upgrading your weapon at the forge with mists while deep in his cups (drunk, basically)

For the relic weapon to be useful you have to be up to date with the game and the relic weapon quests. And still it is really only an achievement to show off.
Just got to these books and thought I was near the end but nope lol. But I've already started, there's no getting off this train. Only thing worrying me is the 400K gil since I dunno how to farm that yet :P

I don’t know why but I can’t speak to Remon, I’ve done all of the steps fine up until now, have all the mats ready to upgrade to Zodiac weapon but he still says he won’t speak to me because it’s not the right time?!? It even game me a message in the log when I acquired the last mat to speak to Gerolt and the other man when I got the last one but neither of them have quests for me, wtf!?!?

Ah, now 3 years later and everything is cheaper. 3 inks are 25 poetics each and Mysterious maps are 75 poetics. So far I am on distinct for light (started yesterday) but mainly I was running WoD and Syrcus tower because they were giving blinding light. But they're much longer, I just enjoy healing that's all

Me, who just finished the step: it sure goddamn is. 50 fates without a drop on the lowest level. Never thought using just 2 skills would be so boring.
i did the fate grinding yesterday,and i wouldnt want to be #humblebragging here but i think i got insane luck with the slowest one being 6 fates to get o.o

In 4.x I'd estimate from start to finish will likely take around 50 hours still, give or take 10 hours.
Well I have a more accurate estimate now since I just tried this out on whm and it took about 15 hours. Would likely take 20 hours tops if you didn't grind the light during bonus windows.

on the light farm dungeon stage do you need to have the weapon equipped throughout the entire dungeon, or just when you leave?
You need to equip it before you kill the final boss, I think.

I just started to play the game a month ago. i am a level 56 black mage and i am working on this wepon. I am not at the book step. My question is , is this worth it? I will be able to use this wepon until end game or i will need to change it. and most important it will be shiny? :D As now it a bit shiny only when i pull it out :(

i forgot how painful it is to grind grind this weapons. remember the original zenith step when we had to grind 100+ brayflox hard?? xD oh and the original atma step when the odds where insane? or animus when special fates didn't spawn? good old times
How do I see how much light I amassed?
Check your Zodiac Glass. I'm not sure how it shows the light, as I'm not there yet. afaik, it's the same as the Anima Glass, in that it'll show glyphs that'll glow brighter in sequence as you amass light/resonance.

This is a weapon item for glamour/vanity at this point. They are still great looking items with the best "glowy" particle effects in-game; (Also the lv60 Anima weapons from HW). The current-tier equivalent are the upgraded "Antiquated" weapons you receive at 70 and upgraded through Eureka.

I just re-subbed, and I'm on the light farming section on my PLD weapon. I was farming level 50 hard mode trials back at the start of Heavensward, checking Reddit for which ones had bonuses. What has changed? You say you can farm Sastasha, etc. but it also says "level 50 content". Do you mean Sastasha hard mode?
Literally any content lvl 50 or below.
I'm thinking when I get to the light farm, I'll get a fc members to farm levitian and rumus for there mounts. 2 birds one stone.
Going off the explanations alone it all seems really easy up to a certain point which is way further along than people would have you believe. To me, the real bullshit/annoying grind sounds like it starts at this step: 4:55
A lot of people say it starts to become bullshit and an annoying grind at the fate grinding part or the book part, but while they might take a fair bit of time, its by no means hard. I'd rather do both of those than farm rep from world quests in WoW at any rate lol, now THAT is tedious, bullshit and an annoying grind.
