I got from the beginning to almost being done with getting all the non dungeon items for the repeatable quests, so not much left now - just wanted to say thanks because along with the wiki this video was a HUGE help
you're a lifesaver. thank you so much for this excellent guide! I attribute my smooth completion of this grind to you, and couldn't be happier with my ragnarok zeta :')
My personal Light Farm is Ifrit Normal. If you're even close to level cap it takes around 6 seconds to do it, you don't need to worry about any possible loot drops and even at the weakest amount of light it's still faster than a dungeon just for travel time alone.
Moggle Mog Extreme is faster imho. If you do it right/have enough damage you can kill him in under 30 seconds, which gives you 32 light. Including loading screens it should be the fastest way to farm light in a numerical sense.
Great guide, helped me a lot. For some reason, I decided to do the ninja weapons from start to finish in 4 days. Can't say I ever want to grind that hard again but I'm glad I got the daggers, rofl.
I did the same thing for Paladin. Took me 4 days of non-stop grinding. Never again. Well...I plan on white mage and black mage weapons...but will do them much more relaxed this time
Pro tip: the Book FATEs spawn in 3s, so if one of the FATEs are up, the other 2 are also up within a few minutes of each other. If you somehow missed it, then it was completed before you got there. This change went into effect in later expansions along with the reduced time to spawn rare FATEs to make this part of the grind easier.
As a sorta of 10 yr anniversary to the game i decided to finally do this which i been putting off for 2 yrs. Amnnnddddd its going lol. Just really pacing myself so i dont burn out with this quest. I finally made it to the light farming.. so the end is in sight!!!
I've done white mage a few years back and now I'm on the matiera step for bard, god I hate this grind but the weapons are by far some of the best. Good luck to everyone out there, and thank you for reminding me where to go!
Geez, this is more involved than the Breaching the Tomb achievement in WoW, and I completed that 9 times for the the different Order Hall mounts. I think just the first versions of each weapon would be enough for me if I decide to put the effort into getting them.
Swear to God when I finish getting my weapon I'm gonna be walking with it up my ass loud and proud, this is such a CRAZY GRIND. The guide itself is perfect, a lot of detail, thanks ♥
For those doing the books, and want to conserve leves, all you need to do is to get all of the levequests that are currently available to you for your current book. Complete one levequest and then get whichever ones are missing. I did this method to avoid burning through leves trying to cycle through levequests to get the one that I needed.
You only have to grab and complete 1 levequest to make the one you need appear. Just make sure to check and accept the one you need before collecting the reward of the one you just completed.
@@J_Mirae Yes but you run the risk of the one of the ones you need disappearing. This is why you check and grab any that are available which you need for your current book before completing any levequest. For example let's say that I need A, B , and C while A and C are available from their respective NPCs. If I do the leve for A, or another leve, in order to get B to show up, without grabbing C, I run the risk of C going away and having to repeat the process again wasting a leve.
Thank you so much for that guide. Got my Longinus Zeta in about a week. Started on a Dragoon that just hit 50, finished on lvl 64. Cost me about 700 000 gil overall (without crafting) and a bit of sanity.
Just got my Curtana & Holy Shield Zenith. Now I am running around the world completeing FATEs xD got the whole Shroud Bussiness behind me. Now for Thanalan and La Noscea.
Just picked up last quest rise and shine for the start of the mahatmas. Going for my Warrior Weapon. Cant wait to finish this thing. Its been a LONG grind. 10/10 will not be doing a second one. All said and done if youre buying items from the market board its about half a million gil for those 6 items. Or near that much. People price gouge because they can. Oh well.
on the final stage now! only took me a year to get through the books, light wasnt bad its actually feels faster to spam thorn march ex, can be completed in 30 secs and is gurantee 32 light everytime with no bonus.
For anyone who's onto the light grind, and like me, are not max level (60 or so),or chose a tank/healer job to get the relic for... Do Thousand Maw of Toto-Rak. Streamlined, almost nothing to interact with. Almost a straight line start to end. Instant/2 tap enemies with long passage ways to burst down while still moving between webbed/blocked off doors.
The time has come for me to say goodbye and finally close my browser tab that had this video pinned for the last... month or so? 😂 This guide was INCRIDIBLY useful and I wouldn't be able to get my ARR Relic without it! Thank you so much! Already got some pinned tabs reserved for the next relic guides. 😉
This is exceptionally helpful, I've been running the relics with my bestfriends. We are on the Materia scroll step atm. The books were such a grind, but fun with a group.
Thank you very much, your guide was incredibly helpful. I got my Yoichi Bow Zeta tonight and one of the replicas I wanted to use for glam after completing it. :D
Side note: When it comes to forcing the Levequest you need to appear, you only need to complete one of the leves you've taken on before it shows up. Though after that it's up to you if you want to take advantage of the other leves by completing them or abandoning them to save time (you will not get the allowance back and will have to wait for the timer to give you more)
Currently working on getting my Atmas, on trial and decided to look at the rest. And i decided to not rush through this cause holy hell thats a lot of stuff to do.
@@CapnIndifferent Can also confirm this is true, the wikis and other guides made the materia section seem so much worse than it was. I just went oh I can run maps for like 30 minutes and then walk up to the market board and be done? Cool
I am offering three bits of advice, for the Omni or Multi classing/jobbing folks. 1st, Atma's: If your doing multiple classes? Farm them ALL AT ONCE. That way you don't have to later. There are certain points that are easier done in bulk. FATE farming? You can actually force the FATE you need, by clearing any others in the zone. 2nd, GC currency: stockpile Gil and your GC points, for the parts you need. (You can buy them in advance...) 3rd, Materia & Lightfarming. Materia first. If you are going for the Glamour? Don't worry about the stats. (You'll understand, when you get to/past Stormblood) Lightfarming, you can actually cheese this, there are a few nice modern guides. Hope some this advice helps.
So you have to have _everything_ in the damn game unlocked and maxed out just to attempt this. No thank you. I was about to grind this for my SMN, but settled with Tsuyu's weapon instead. This is not worth my time, let alone with how limited it is right now with the insane queue times (longest in any mmo I've ever played, and I have 15+ years of mmo'ing) and absurd amount of errors. This guide is very clear and concise, so I appreciate it. And I appreciate you saving me from this cruel and unusual punishment.
It's not for everyone. The relics (especially ARR's) are one of the biggest pains to complete, even these days, and they're definitely optional. Unless you have a reason like your job's relic is the best looking thing in the game or you're a completionist, they're totally skippable. Having the foresight to be like, "nah, this is gonna be a bad time for me" is good. This is without even mentioning the queue times these days. I appreciate your kind words and I'm glad I could help. :P
good way to farm the Light as Dragoon is to do Ifrit Normal, one run takes around 2-3 seconds + loading and re-entering. just enter and instantly jump on Ifrit to kill him instantly. took me around 1,5-2hrs for all the light (but i did alliance raid msq roulette, that gave also a bit but Ifrit is by far the fastest)
I believe you can get book credit for the step to animus simply for participating. Gold medal isn't necessary as long as you earn something. For FATEs.
Just did the books in 3days. Once you get the hang of it, it was easy as pie. The most annoying part is how bad the teleportation system is, so you spend alot of time getting annoyed by the menu more than anything. Things to keep in mind about books; 1. Mor Dhona, Caerthas Central -(Camp Dragonhead), and Camp Bluefog are always your LEVE locations. (favorite those 3) 2. Mor Shona, and Carthas Central will ALWAYS have enemies to while you either do LEVES or possible FATE's in them. 3. Put the 3 FATE teleportations also on your favorites. Sometimes they are also in Coerthas or MorDhona, but not always. This alone should help a bit with the teleportation stuff. The enemy spawns in general are also in very similar spots from book to book. Usually it's just the same enemy but different variation of it, so remember the most often used teleportations. Teleport locations I found helpful; Southern Thanalan (Little Ala Mhigo), East Shroud (The Hawthorne Hut), Outer La Noscea (camp overlook)
Thank you so much for the guide... i got a warning about 1.4% chance of it being made into a higher relic weapon at the 2nd to last step, and it made me 2nd guess if it was worth it 😂
Just started grinding for my first relic today, met two people who were also grinding and we party'd up to get all the atmas together. The first atma drop took like an hour for me but after that we got each of them within 5-10 minutes. Hopefully I can pace myself and not burnout trying to get this weapon lol
yo you missed something pretty important i think. in order to accept the quest "rise and shine" it says you need your zodiac wep equipped (which i do, the nexus one anyway) but it says i cant accept it. theres a option at the bottom which says "turn nexus weapon into longius (which is the dragoon one) and when you click that it will give you a cutscene with a prompt that says "this has a 1.4% chance of succeeding, if it fails your weapon will be lost. do you wish to proceed?" you should probably clarify thats NOT HOW IT WORKS IT DOESNT MATTER WHICH OPTION YOU CHOOSE IT WILL ALWAYS SUCCEED. idc if its a fun fake out or whatever that shit is fucking wack.
Also soloing stone vigil (hard) is actually possible as a dps assuming you're level 90. when before i think it was only possible with healers and blue mage.
Well i haven't reached that but thank you for the info am currently in the light farm so ill be spamming Aurum Vale since i can finish it in 2:30 with my blacmage
@@vindicen7359 you could do it level 80 melee dps too, just have to stun the boss with your job ability as well as the cannons and takes a while to solo cannon down the boss while hopping off to clear the all the mobs
I just did the light farming, and since I did not want to just repeat one thing here's what I did; I ran all ARR dungeons in a row Ran all ARR trials in a row After that it was retty much done, all I needed to do is run just 2 Stone Vigils and it was completed. Stone Vigil I found ws the fastest dungeon to do by far, because you could single pull everything to the last boss room. It did only give "Brilliant" light. But considering how fast it is, I recon it's faster than doing ANY of the "blinding light" dungeons. Yes they are pretty fast them selves on their own merrit, but if you just want to grind one thing, Stone Vigil is my recommendation. It's easy and has only 1 interaction with a door at the last boss.
If Ifrit (hard) has bonus light it's more efficient to spam this one since it can be completed extremely quickly at lvl100 and gives Brilliant light (32 points). Spam this 63 times (doable in around 1h 20 min) and you're done with the first light farm, have yet to do the second one with Ifrit hard but I expect similar times
It took 4 years to finally get this done for my Paladin... I fear trying to get them all. Always have Excalibur as my glam now, to show off the work it took.
some youtubers are able to show all relics on zeta and later stages for all classes on just one character. i wonder how long it took and nope, not going to happen for me.
I think there's a way to show it off on your character with a mod or something cause there are Pandemonium Savage weapon showcases out already all on one character. I have no idea how to do it, but it makes me feel better having 2 zeta weapons lol
I got my lights from Mog King trial extreme It takes about 30s if you have good aoe nukes (PLD does) Took less than 1h (you need to be high level obviously, but why would you bother with this content if you aren't?) The books grind is by far the worst part imo, because of its sheer length and the RNG shenanigans you have to get around (by either waiting or cycling through useless quests). Enemies and dungeons are mind numbing but easy, FATEs and levequests are pure hell. And 9 times is a LOT. I did one per day (2 when I felt crazy) at it felt like a lot, I have no idea how some people do the whole process in less than 3 days it must be torture. Thank God some steps can be practically bypassed through the power of money (imagine getting all those materia by yourself). Thank you for making this much more bearable with such a video because it is quite cryptic otherwise
I'm on the Materia step at the moment, so Im griding Alexandrite. Augh. All I can say is thank Sonar for giving me the option for giving me an alert for what FATES.
I'm not sure if they will change the part about HQ items after endwalker or not but I guess that will make it easier in the zodiac step, also awesome video ✌️♥️
They said all hq items that are gathered or dropped will be removed the only hq items you can get are those you acquire through crafting (poor gatherers)
just to add to the soloing dungeons bit. you don't need to equip your relic weapon before fighting the final boss. you just have to enter dungeon and exit dungeon with your relic weapon equipped. you can kill everything in the dungeon with your best gear. Just make sure you have your relic weapon equipped when entering/exiting dungeon. Edit .. this is true only for HW anima relic weapon. For ARR weapons, you have to equip it before fighting the final boss. Your intended target has a mini circle marker over their head. These marks have to be killed with the relic weapon.
@@notor1ousguhmz I think you might have missed the Edit note i added later. For ARR dungeons you have to kill the final boss with your relic weapon equipped. For HW dungeons you just have to enter and exit the dungeons with your relic weapon equipped.

so sad, I'm broke and now have a DOPE weapon.
Just finished my Sasuke Zeta following along this guide, but I just spammed Aurum vale for light and Mahatmas not caring about the Bonus as I could clear with my lvl 74 NIN in just under 2min.Instead I was chasing my personal best time to stay motivated, got the Bonus for the Mahatmas anyway and it was done in no time =)
Thanks for the great guide, will be back in some time for the HW relic guide.
I got from the beginning to almost being done with getting all the non dungeon items for the repeatable quests, so not much left now - just wanted to say thanks because along with the wiki this video was a HUGE help
Great guide! All your advice in the video allowed me to finish off from end of books to the zeta in a day
That's awesome! Congrats and thank you!
you're a lifesaver. thank you so much for this excellent guide! I attribute my smooth completion of this grind to you, and couldn't be happier with my ragnarok zeta :')
Glad to help, congrats!
this took me a couple days but youre guide got me thru it thanks for the help!
A slight correction - Kettle to the Mettle also awards Kettle Knuckles Nexus which are weapons for MNK.
Ultima Ex is about the same with load times, ~ 20 seconds for twice the light but 1 less zone out/que/zone in/wait in the circle.
Do you need another scroll for light farm I completed it and it's saying I have to do the scroll thing with the enchanted ink
@@enyxio2553 Yes you need a new scroll for every weapon, meaning three new Superior Enchanted Ink
@@Keryusupercoologuy appreciate you letting me know guess I better get another 75 alexandrites lol
Really great guide. I'll never do this, thanks!
Well...I plan on white mage and black mage weapons...but will do them much more relaxed this time
Grinding multiple 99s in runescape has prepared me for this challenge💪
Appreciate the guide! Finally got my Ninjas weapon today. Like you said, if you can get through the books, you can get through the rest. ✌️
Pro tip: the Book FATEs spawn in 3s, so if one of the FATEs are up, the other 2 are also up within a few minutes of each other. If you somehow missed it, then it was completed before you got there. This change went into effect in later expansions along with the reduced time to spawn rare FATEs to make this part of the grind easier.
this should be pinned
As a sorta of 10 yr anniversary to the game i decided to finally do this which i been putting off for 2 yrs. Amnnnddddd its going lol. Just really pacing myself so i dont burn out with this quest. I finally made it to the light farming.. so the end is in sight!!!
I've done white mage a few years back and now I'm on the matiera step for bard, god I hate this grind but the weapons are by far some of the best. Good luck to everyone out there, and thank you for reminding me where to go!
i am doing it for white mage as well, I just hope I can do everything needed with WHM only, even unsynced...
Geez, this is more involved than the Breaching the Tomb achievement in WoW, and I completed that 9 times for the the different Order Hall mounts. I think just the first versions of each weapon would be enough for me if I decide to put the effort into getting them.
finally on the final step of my relic, thank you for taking me through this journey
Early congratulations! I'm glad I could help.
Thanks for the guide, it's going to be a hell of a journey but thankfully allot of these first relics look really good so it will be worth it.
I'm always going to go back for this vid for a refresher on the zodiac weapons tyvm!
Glad to hear it! Be well.
Swear to God when I finish getting my weapon I'm gonna be walking with it up my ass loud and proud, this is such a CRAZY GRIND. The guide itself is perfect, a lot of detail, thanks ♥
Damn, coming from Ragnarok Online, this shit's easy!
Great vid, great timestamps, straight to the explanations. thank you for your efforts!
Very helpful guide for a super convoluted and confusing questline. it's all worth it for my shiny knives though
Thanks and congrats!
Finally after a week I can safely close this youtube video, than you for everything
Thank you so much for this guide! I got mine done in 2 and a half days of hellish grinding
Thank you so much! I've just got my Excalibur Zeta and it was all thanks to this guide!
Took me around a week of intense grind but got my first relic finally, thanks a ton for the guide
Thank you so much for that guide.
Got my Longinus Zeta in about a week. Started on a Dragoon that just hit 50, finished on lvl 64. Cost me about 700 000 gil overall (without crafting) and a bit of sanity.
Hands down best guide for the ARR relics
Thanks!
Just got my Curtana & Holy Shield Zenith. Now I am running around the world completeing FATEs xD got the whole Shroud Bussiness behind me. Now for Thanalan and La Noscea.
I got my Novus step done today. Thank you so so much for the Guide. By far the best out there. The rest will wait till next weekend!
Just finished the books! The White Mage final weapon is so beautiful, I'm going to keep going!
Nice! You got this. :D
Oh well.
thank you working on this now, that i finish main story for cosmetic purposes. at the books now.. and im crying lol...
Hang in there, you got this!
Just completed my Excalibur Zeta, thanks so much for this guide!
on the final stage now! only took me a year to get through the books, light wasnt bad its actually feels faster to spam thorn march ex, can be completed in 30 secs and is gurantee 32 light everytime with no bonus.
I'm glad you found a method that works for you. I'll have to give it a try for next time. Congrats!
Thanks for this guide will deff use it for my starting journey looks like pain 😩 let's do this!!
Hey folks the Book completion is over!! I just finished it and let me tell you... you can do it too!! :)
This guide was INCRIDIBLY useful and I wouldn't be able to get my ARR Relic without it! Thank you so much! Already got some pinned tabs reserved for the next relic guides. 😉
Great guide, very clear and doesn't waste time, made my run A LOT smoother.
Thank you for the amazing guide, for a new player it made the process easy to understand and complete :)
Side note: When it comes to forcing the Levequest you need to appear, you only need to complete one of the leves you've taken on before it shows up. Though after that it's up to you if you want to take advantage of the other leves by completing them or abandoning them to save time (you will not get the allowance back and will have to wait for the timer to give you more)
Thank you so much for your detailed guide, I managed to get my Ragnarok Zeta in around a week ^^
You're welcome, congrats and enjoy!
Currently working on getting my Atmas, on trial and decided to look at the rest. And i decided to not rush through this cause holy hell thats a lot of stuff to do.
I can say with confidence that this is the best video on yt for this topic. Really well done man, thanks.
I really appreciate that, thank you.
(You can buy them in advance...)
3rd, Materia & Lightfarming.
You can really tell that this was Square Enix’s first shot at a relic weapon quest chain.
lol no ff11 was
it has a certain simple charm to it, but yeah, every relic quest that came out after was muuuuuch better lol
good way to farm the Light as Dragoon is to do Ifrit Normal, one run takes around 2-3 seconds + loading and re-entering. just enter and instantly jump on Ifrit to kill him instantly. took me around 1,5-2hrs for all the light (but i did alliance raid msq roulette, that gave also a bit but Ifrit is by far the fastest)
Late 2024; Still super helpful and informative. Thank you :)
I believe you can get book credit for the step to animus simply for participating. Gold medal isn't necessary as long as you earn something. For FATEs.
Confirmed. I hit a fate once, got bronze, and still got credit in my book.
oh my god, it took me 1 week to make and about 600k to make the items, thanks for the guide
Just did the books in 3days. Once you get the hang of it, it was easy as pie.
The most annoying part is how bad the teleportation system is, so you spend alot of time getting annoyed by the menu more than anything.
Things to keep in mind about books;
1. Mor Dhona, Caerthas Central -(Camp Dragonhead), and Camp Bluefog are always your LEVE locations. (favorite those 3)
Thank you so much for the guide... i got a warning about 1.4% chance of it being made into a higher relic weapon at the 2nd to last step, and it made me 2nd guess if it was worth it 😂
Amazing video!!! It feels like there is bugger all easy to follow videos on this but this was perfect!!! Thnx mate!!
yeap, the chests drop 5 alexandrite crystals, I guess they upped the drop rate at some point. thank you for this guide.
Really helpful guide! Finally got my relic thanks to you. I vowed never to do it again. But the white mage weapon looks so good though. Urgh.
Congrats!
Fantastic video for extra information! Finished mine in 5 days ~
thanks for making an updated guide and a detailed one
thanks for the guide z title attained 2week grind coupe of hrs here and there
Congrats!
Just started grinding for my first relic today, met two people who were also grinding and we party'd up to get all the atmas together. The first atma drop took like an hour for me but after that we got each of them within 5-10 minutes. Hopefully I can pace myself and not burnout trying to get this weapon lol
I got super lucky and got all my atmas in about 5 hours. I got most of them from killing boss FATEs.
Be sure to server jump for the HQ items, I was able to find some servers where people were only selling them for 40K each.
Still amazingly helpful guide, thank you
This is crazy and thank you for this guide!
yo you missed something pretty important i think. in order to accept the quest "rise and shine" it says you need your zodiac wep equipped (which i do, the nexus one anyway) but it says i cant accept it. theres a option at the bottom which says "turn nexus weapon into longius (which is the dragoon one) and when you click that it will give you a cutscene with a prompt that says "this has a 1.4% chance of succeeding, if it fails your weapon will be lost. do you wish to proceed?" you should probably clarify thats NOT HOW IT WORKS IT DOESNT MATTER WHICH OPTION YOU CHOOSE IT WILL ALWAYS SUCCEED. idc if its a fun fake out or whatever that shit is fucking wack.
Also soloing stone vigil (hard) is actually possible as a dps assuming you're level 90. when before i think it was only possible with healers and blue mage.
Well i haven't reached that but thank you for the info am currently in the light farm so ill be spamming Aurum Vale since i can finish it in 2:30 with my blacmage
when i saw this message pop up it gave me a heart attack XD
Lmao good thing I don’t read that shit
@@vindicen7359 you could do it level 80 melee dps too, just have to stun the boss with your job ability as well as the cannons and takes a while to solo cannon down the boss while hopping off to clear the all the mobs
I just did the light farming, and since I did not want to just repeat one thing here's what I did;
I ran all ARR dungeons in a row
Ran all ARR trials in a row
After that it was retty much done, all I needed to do is run just 2 Stone Vigils and it was completed.
Spam this 63 times (doable in around 1h 20 min) and you're done with the first light farm, have yet to do the second one with Ifrit hard but I expect similar times
just finished the books and then sphere scroll for gae bolg. Never doing the book grind again. It was not fun. But for DRG its worth it
~ Been looking for a guide like this! thank you so much!
It has taken me EIGHT years to collect all my ARR relics...
You absolute, deranged, madman. I'm impressed.
Wtf
It has taken me eight years to get to the half of the questline for my first ARR Relic
Jeebus
I just got the black mage zodiac. I'm going for paladin next lmao
I got my lights from Mog King trial extreme
It takes about 30s if you have good aoe nukes (PLD does)
Took less than 1h (you need to be high level obviously, but why would you bother with this content if you aren't?)
The books grind is by far the worst part imo, because of its sheer length and the RNG shenanigans you have to get around (by either waiting or cycling through useless quests).
Hard to say, I could see it go either way. Will pin a comment when we know. Thanks!
They said all hq items that are gathered or dropped will be removed the only hq items you can get are those you acquire through crafting (poor gatherers)
They are likely still HQ required since they are crafted, but we'll find out soon.
just to add to the soloing dungeons bit. you don't need to equip your relic weapon before fighting the final boss. you just have to enter dungeon and exit dungeon with your relic weapon equipped. you can kill everything in the dungeon with your best gear.
I think I may have just made this rule for myself because of how many times I zoned out without the weapon equipped. Haha
I just tested this and it's not true. I did not get credit for the dungeon.
@@notor1ousguhmz I think you might have missed the Edit note i added later. For ARR dungeons you have to kill the final boss with your relic weapon equipped. For HW dungeons you just have to enter and exit the dungeons with your relic weapon equipped.
